Rumour: Okay Source Talksport: Jadon Sancho offered to West Ham

Post image
178 Upvotes

Saw according to Talksport that Sancho's been offered to us, says only offered so who knows what salary demands his agent is asking for, if its 50k or less I'd say its worth the punt, we'd be a solid option for him at this point in his career aswell, if his agents are getting greedy and want anymore I'd say avoid though.

I like Austbo but Sancho and Bowen on both flanks could be dangerous.

Whats peoples thoughts on this rumour?

Pablo is one of the leaders in tackles and passes among Championship strikers, playing 448 minutes only

People here argue a lot about Pablo. I checked his numbers and he has some impressive stats.

Key numbers (Championship unless stated)

  • Availability: 8 of 12 league games (5 starts, 3 off the bench), 448 of 1,080 league minutes (41%). He finished only 1 of his 5 league starts.
  • End product: 1 goal and 1 assist, from 1.37 xG and 0.43 xA. In all competitions, 2 goals and 2 assists.
  • Rating: FotMob 6.91, 12th of 57 Championship strikers, between Castellanos (6.95) and Piroe (6.89) at West Ham.
  • Strengths: 2nd of 60 strikers for tackles per 90 (2.0) and 3rd of 66 for accurate passes per 90 (20.9, at 80%).
  • Weak spots: 0.27 xG per 90 (49th of 66 strikers), 39% of duels won, 35% of aerial duels won, and 2.6 fouls per 90 with 2 yellow cards.
  • Team with him on the pitch: goals 18-3 in his 448 minutes, against 14-11 in the 632 without him. By xG, the attack is about the same (2.18 against 2.08 per 90). The defensive gap is real but mostly reflects when he played.

I know there have been a number of LA-based Hammers venues over the years but what is the most up to date one? I was going to go to Lucky Baldwins but understand that’s now closed?

Discussion Max Kilman: The Winter of Our Discontent

People almost always blame Kilman for our mistakes. He is a hostage of his price tag and our expectations. I was watching the highlights against Southampton and decided to dive deeper into open source data.

Here what I found so far (keep in mind that data always has limitations because it is a team game and numbers can be interpreted differently). Plus this is open data, not what Nuno can see in front of him

Key numbers (Championship unless stated)

  • Availability: every one of the 1,350 competitive minutes (15 starts), the only West Ham player to do so.
  • Rating: FotMob 7.36, 3rd of 59 Championship centre-backs (Mavropanos is 1st at 7.47).
  • Team defence with him on: 15 goals conceded from 14.25 xG in 12 games, about 1.2 a game against a league average of 1.44; 4 clean sheets.
  • Strengths: 67.6% of aerial duels won; 92.7% pass accuracy, 6th of 60 centre-backs for accurate passes per 90; dribbled past only 3 times.
  • Weak spots: 54th of 60 centre-backs for interceptions, 55th of 60 for accurate long balls.
  • Mistakes: no errors leading to a goal (see more) and no penalties conceded.
  • Against the best: 11 of the 20 goals conceded came against the five strongest opponents, where his rating averages 7.06.

Verdict

  • Who he is: a reliable, aerially dominant, ball-secure centre-back who has played every minute for a promotion-chasing side. On FotMob’s model, one of the three best-rated centre-backs in the Championship.
  • Impact shows most in: availability, box defending, keeping possession.
  • Impact shows least in: winning the ball back early and progressive passing, which Mavropanos supplies alongside him.
  • The locations confirm it: more than a third of his defending happens in his own box and a tenth in the opposition half (WhoScored).
  • No costly mistakes: Sofascore records no errors leading to a goal all season.
  • Not only the easier league: his duel and aerial numbers have recovered from a poor 2025-26 to his 2024-25 level.
  • The open question: his weaker games came mostly against the strongest opponents (Fulham, Wolves, Southampton), plus Millwall’s long-throw game. A promotion push depends on how he holds up at that level.

Impact Assessment

In 2025-26 he won 52.3% of his duels, in the bottom 14% of Premier League centre-backs, and his FotMob rating fell to 6.37 across 21 appearances. He stayed, and what follows is how his season has gone since, one question at a time.

1. Availability: complete.

  • Every minute: all 1,350 competitive minutes, the only West Ham player to do so. Goalkeeper Mads Hermansen also has every league minute; Bowen is next with 1,229 minutes in all competitions.
  • A fixed pair in a changing squad: after a lot of summer turnover (13 departures, 10 arrivals), he and Mavropanos started 11 of the 12 league games together. At Watford, Mavropanos was replaced by Airidas Golambeckis.

2. Team defence with him on the pitch: good, not elite.

  • Goals conceded: 15 from 14.25 xG in the league, about 1.2 a game against a league average of 1.44.
  • Clean sheets: 4 (Derby, Wrexham, Lincoln, Swansea).
  • How the 15 were conceded (FotMob shot maps):
  • Open play: Goals: 8; Notes: Includes Southampton’s three in 34 minutes on 24 October
  • Penalties: Goals: 3; Notes: Burnley, Bolton, QPR. None conceded by Kilman
  • Long throws: Goals: 2; Notes: Both at Millwall
  • Corners: Goals: 1; Notes: Burnley, 90th minute
  • Own goal: Goals: 1; Notes: Mavropanos v Wolves
  • Corners: opponents have had 22 league shots from corners and scored once. That fits Kilman’s aerial numbers.
  • Long throws: the two goals at Millwall came in his weakest aerial game (1 of 6 won).
  • Home and away, a pattern worth watching: at home West Ham have conceded 8 from 4.93 xG; away, 7 from 9.34. Overall goals track xG closely (15 against 14.25).

3. What he does himself: a box defender and a safe passer.

  • Strengths
    • In the air: dominant. 67.6% of aerial duels won and 4.6 headed clearances per 90, peaking at 10 of 11 aerials against Derby.
    • On the ball: very secure. 92.7% pass accuracy and 6th among Championship centre-backs for accurate passes per 90.
    • One against one: dribbled past only 3 times in 12 games, and no penalties conceded.
  • Limits
    • Reactive defending: 54th of 60 centre-backs for interceptions and 41st for tackles, and he wins only 51.5% of ground duels. He defends the box more than he steps in to win the ball.
    • Little progressive passing: 55th of 60 for accurate long balls and 49th for line-breaking passes. Mavropanos (2nd of 60 for long balls, 4.7 per 90) does that job in this pair.
    • He can do more: 23 passes into the final third against Charlton, when the opponent sat deep.

I did even more analysis and explanations here, because Reddit formatting is not easy and I did not want to add every image.

Discussion Hermansen: we're in a pickle

The Hermansen problem has yet again risen. He seems like a starter simply because he cost us so much we cant afford to bench him.

Last season it was clear he wasn't a PL quality keeper (and every defence will tell you they need a reliable keeper behind them)

We came down and I guess the reason he's still starting is because A. We didn't have enough money to replace him. B. They thought he'd come good in the Championship and C. They probably couldn't sell him without making a gigantic loss.

But what now? If we dont go up it'll be down to the defence and keeper, the gamble hasnt worked and Hermansen needs to be dropped. Has Areola had a falling out with Nuno? (Who knows) would he improve things? (Very debatable)

With January around the corner priority has to be our defence and the keeper. If we were solid we'd run away with this league but right now we're probably looking at play offs if we keep playing like this.

Discussion Positivity vs Negativity

Usually the truth is somewhere in the middle.

We are 3 points off top but we are also 2 points off 9th so you can argue either way for what suits the point your making.

Our attack seems to not be clicking yet we have scored the most in the league. So again both points can have a good arguement.

The only thing we can all agree on is Nuno needs to find a way to get the team to stop starting every game on the back foot.

I personally think Nuno is delivering what should be expected given our team, Can we honestly say anyone in that team is Premier League level bar Bowen? Its about a playoff level team with 1 star player (For the level) in it and thats pretty much how we've been playing.

November is quite nice to us fixture wise, if Nuno hasn't got a run of good performances after that then maybe its time to start talking.

Lets be honest if he does go we will probably end up with Bellamy or Carrick and I'm not sure either of them will be the step up people are expecting anyway.

Anyway are you guys Nuno in or out as Twitter seems like a 50% split.

Mads Hermansen: To Be or Not to Be

Mads is our current Hamlet this season. People critisize him that he does not save this season, sitting behind one of the strongest defence lines in the Championship. I looked into this.

Here what I found so far (keep in mind that data always has limitations because it is a team game and numbers can be interpreted differently). Plus this is open data, not what Nuno can see in front of him to make decisions. Obviously, this data is too generic to make strong conclusions, but it gives SOME ideas.

Key numbers (Championship unless stated)

  • Availability: every one of the 1,080 league minutes (12 starts), plus the EFL Cup win over Portsmouth. Finlay Herrick started the other two cup games.
  • Rating: FotMob 6.82, 15th of 24 Championship goalkeepers (Max O’Leary of West Brom is 1st at 7.45).
  • Shot-stopping: 62.5% of shots on target saved and -0.95 goals prevented, both 15th of 24. In plain terms, he has let in about one goal more than an average keeper would have from the same shots.
  • Workload: only 40 shots on target faced in 12 games (3.3 a game). His 2.1 saves per 90 rank 20th of 24, because the defence in front of him allows so few.
  • Clean sheets: 4, joint 2nd-most in the league.
  • Errors leading to a goal: none on FotMob’s count, after 3 in the 2025-26 Premier League season. That count only covers clear individual mistakes.
  • Penalties: none saved from 3.
  • One bad night: Southampton on 24 October cost him -0.88 goals prevented. Across the other 11 league games he is at -0.06, almost exactly average.

Verdict

  • Who he is this season: a steady, average shot-stopper behind one of the Championship’s best defences. On FotMob’s model he is in the middle of the pack, not among the league’s best keepers.
  • Impact shows most in: coming for crosses (6th of 24 for high claims per 90), and short passing (76.1% pass accuracy, 89th percentile).
  • Impact shows least in: saving the shots that are hard to save, saving penalties, and sweeping behind the defence (joint last of 24 keepers for sweeper actions per 90).
  • Not the keeper he was in 2023-24 (so far): when Leicester won this league he prevented +6.68 goals, the best total among Championship keepers that season on FotMob’s percentiles. This season he is at -0.95. But it is too early for final conclusions
  • The open question: 9 of the 16 goals he has conceded came against the four strongest opponents he has faced, where he saved only 57% of shots on target. Promotion depends on those games

So, to be or not to be?

Neither, yet. He claims crosses well, his short passing is tidy, and he has played every league minute. FotMob has logged no clear error leading to a goal, after three last season.

But the keeper who won this league with Leicester has not returned either. He has let in about one goal more than an average keeper would from the shots he has faced, he has saved none of the three penalties against him, and he rarely leaves his line. Against the four strongest sides he has faced, he saved 57% of shots on target.

I did even more analysis and explanations here, because Reddit formatting is not easy and I did not want to add every image.

We've chopped and changed over the last few weeks... your 11?

Seems like Nuno is either indulging in excessive tactical tinkering, or he just doesn't know his best 11. I think we need a settled 11 to start building some rhythm.

Yes, the squad is lacking in places. But we generally have better players than most, so we should be enforcing our style on opponents. And I'm not confident enough to move away from 4-4-2 at present.

Most of it I'm fairly sure of. I'm sick of Taty, I want a solid defence, though I admit KWP had a good game today going forward, his one on one stats are poor. Pablo makes things tick and we need to find a goalscorer so let's try Piroe.

It's just central midfield that's really hard to pick. And also the thing that most needs a steady pairing, they looked porous today when it counted.

- Hermansen

- Morato, Kilman, Mavro, Veltman

- Austbo, ???, ???, Bowen

- Pablo, Piroe

Rate the new signing: Edvin Austbø

Previous ratings:

Divine Mukasa: 4.

Arne Engels: 4.

Joel Veltman: 4.

Manor Solomon: 3.

Joel Piroe: 3.

Austbø signed at the end of the transfer window for £10.8 million from Viking. The 21 year old has mainly been used as a back up for Manor Solomon. In his 9 league matches for us he has started 1 league game, come on as sub 7 times, and been an unused sub once. He has 2 goals and 2 assists.

Worldie #1 - 57.6 Yards out (52.7 meters). Average speed of 70 km/h. Estimated peak speed of 100 km/h
Worldie #2 - 61.8 Yards out (56.5 meters). Average speed of 72 km/h. Estimated peak speed of 105 km/h.

Will this be a player who joins the first team in the next few years? We certainly have never seen 2 halfway line goals in the same game, let alone by the same player.

I recently bought this year’s New Balance match jacket and it’s amazing. The material is great quality and it fits really well. It’s £85 at the West Ham store which isn’t too bad, however the conversion rate and shipping costs were a pain since I’m in Canada. Either way I’m super happy with the purchase, would recommend

Discussion My first visit to the London Stadium – help

I'm making my first visit to the London Stadium tomorrow. I used to have a season ticket for years at the Boleyn, but could never drag myself to go to the Olympic bowl; I've finally buckled.

Could do with a little bit of help on logistics. It looks like it's going to be pissing down tomorrow, so:

  1. How easy is it to get into the ground early to avoid queuing outside? And are there decent bars/food inside the ground if I get there early?

  2. After the game, if I want to avoid the crush and queues at Stratford, is it possible to go into the shopping centre, or do they funnel the West Ham fans back onto the Tube?

Any help much appreciated!

Piroe has signed on a season long loan from Leeds. He has played in all 10 matches since signing, starting 6 and coming on as sub on 4 occasions. He has scored 3 goals and has 1 assist.

Discussion Have 10 GBP Club Cash - not a UK resident. Any uses/anyone wants a discount gift card?

Apologies if this is not suitable to post; I couldn't find a sticky thread for generic questions.

I had planned a UK trip in March and bought tickets to a West Ham match. Due to the Iran conflict, my flight got cancelled and I couldn't make the trip. I sold the ticket back to the club for 10 GBP Club Cash, thinking I'll come back soon. Unfortunately due to work commitments I wasn't able to make it to the UK again and I just got notified that the club cash expires in 1 week.

10 GBP is a small amount so I'm not sure what to do with it. If any of you are going to buy anything from the shop or a ticket soon, you can use my club cash and PayPal me or whatever is convenient, or I can simply give a discounted gift card to any of you.

Looking for any suggestions. I lost around a 1000 GBP since most hostels and attractions didn't provide me a refund (since the UK was not impacted by the conflict, understandably), and being able to use this last 10 GBP was the only thing I was looking forward to on my next visit 😂

Is it too risky to try to buy tickets for this game through the general public sale?

Hello friends, I’m Brazilian and even though I support Fluminense - a rival of Flamengo, the club where Lucas Paquetá came from and plays nowadays - I’d love to catch a West Ham match during my trip to London this January.

I know it depends a lot on the team's current form, but is it too risky to try and buy tickets for this match once they go on general sale (i.e., for non-members)?
