🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 I think my barber thinned my hair with a razor comb, is there anything I should know going forward?

Apologies for the really vague post, I’m just quite paranoid about my hair cause it feels like a piece of my identity to me.

To keep it short as possible, my dad scheduled a barber appointment for me that I was reluctant to go to and I asked for a maintenance trim without loosing any length to keep things clean. Though I think she may have used a razor comb to thin my hair without asking cause my hair is very thick, and previous barbers have used one on me in the past with permission even with much shorter hair. Anyway, I’m wondering if there’s anything I should know if that’s the case. Like if I can expect breakage or disrupted curls, or if using a straightening iron would be more risky now

I want to dismiss my worries cause my hair is always random/wild and can seem different every wash cycle, but I’ve never felt it be wispy like it is now, and It’s been more difficult getting defined curls during my routine

To clarify, I like the visual look of what the barber did, no complaints there. Also, I should have said something to the barber before hand not to use to a razor. And I should have spotted it while my hair was being trimmed so that’s my fault, I don’t blame her. I didn’t know they could use one without asking, and I couldn’t tell what tools were used while my glasses were off in the chair. I feel bad doubting my barber, but I can’t help but question.

Finally, I know my hair is of crazy and frizzy in general, I’m still learning but I’m trying real hard to take care of it, so I’d feel pretty bad finally getting satisfied with my hair, only for it to be kind of altered, or having an added challenge while trying to get more length

Any advice or input is greatly appreciated, even if dismissing my worries or adding unrelated hair advice, thank you!

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Hair advice needed (previously thick but thinning hair)!

Currently having a hair crisis because I have an itch to get my hair done but am at a fork in the road with where to start!

For context, my hair used to be extremely thick and wavy growing up. As a swimmer years ago, I had a habit of using swimmers shampoo almost daily and ended up damaging my hair and it has not been back to its waves since. It looks thicker in the second slide where it’s styled (mom braids my hair) but when I don’t style it it feels thin to the point where my ears stick out sometimes and I’m so sick of it.

Part of the issue is definitely that I don’t get my hair trimmed enough, it’s almost butt length but has had stunted growth since the beginning of this year. It could also be affecting my waves but I’m not really wanting to cut my hair any more than 5 inches to take that gamble rn. But I definitely need a haircut.

I’ve also considered maybe getting a digital perm? I have gotten a cold perm in the past after losing my waves but I heard this is a lighter formula used on the hair and really like the natural style.

However I am wondering if I should start incorporating some products into my routine and getting my hair some volume first? Any products recommended? Thank you all for advice :)

🍃 Hair Loss 🍃 M25, hair query, what are some of the best hair supplements for someone with sudden hair loss, very receding hairline, thinning hair.

I have been on topical minoxidil and oral finasteride. Centrum men's vitamins as well. I'd really appreciate knowing what really works for you, supplements, oral and topical. Willing to spend a little extra as well. It would really help since I'm pretty insecure about my hair at this point. I have all my labs done, after a long course of vitamin b and d, they are at optimal levels. Would be open to ayurvedic remedies as well. Thank you!

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Breakage or frizz or new growth?

Are these shorter hairs breakage? It’s making me so insecure :( i only notice it when i straighten my wavy hair, otherwise it just looks like blended in/frizz. They’re shorter than the rest of my hair and stick out so much even when i put hairspray, or oil, or frizz cream.
i barely ever straighten my hair or use heat and i don’t really brush my hair either

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Seeking advice for never being able to fully get shampoo out of hair

My roommate (23F), has been having a lot of issues with her hair, she has grown it out long (below her shoulder blades), and now whenever she washes her hair she has to spend like 40 minutes rinsing everything out, and everytime she’s done she still feels the shampoo/ any product she put in it is still stuck in there.

Her hair type is a 2B, and extremely low porosity hair (she’ll wash her hair at 7 am, and by 7 pm it’s still pretty wet). It’s fairly thick as well. It always looks a little dry, but then greasy at the top (she has some dandruff as well). She washes it id say around once a week. She’s tried pretty much everything, rinsing it out in different ways, oiling her hair (oil never comes out of her hair), hair masks, putting a lot of conditioner in, no conditioner, etc. The only thing she hasn’t is a clarifying shampoo, which she’ll try soon. Her usual routine is shampoo, rinse it out for ages, then a very small amount of conditioner only at the ends, and occasionally a hair mask. (For the people who will say it sounds like her hair is dry and overcompensating with the greasiness - I suggested the same thing, but she’s tried everything and this is the best way she’s found to manage it).

I’m just wondering if anyone has dealt with this before? Any tips I could give her? It’s been really stressing her out, she always has to put her hair up, and is talking more and more about just shaving her head (which she doesn’t want to do).

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ How do I get volume back after shampooing my hair?

My hair is naturally pretty dry, but when it's dry it usually has a lot of volume. The downside is that it can sometimes become almost broom-like. If I use oil, I get the shine I like, but my hair becomes too heavy and loses its volume.

I sometimes use a leave-in **conditioner**, which works pretty well on normal days and gives it some shine and makes it look less dry. But after I shampoo my hair, it doesn't seem to work the same way. My hair becomes flat and loses the volume and texture I like, and it stays that way for several days.

My best hair days are usually when I haven't taken a bath for around three days. At that point, my hair naturally has a really good combination of **volume, shine, texture and shape**.

I do need to shampoo because my scalp eventually gets oily/itchy, so I can't just leave it like that.

So what should I change in my routine to **get that volume back after shampooing**? Should I try a volumizing shampoo, a different type of conditioner, a different leave-in, or some kind of styling product?

I'm mainly looking for a way to get **volume + shine + texture after shampooing** without making my hair heavy.

🔎 Product Question 🔎 How to fix hair after protein overload?

I have very fine, wavy, damaged hair.

I made the mistake of using a protein hair mask as my regular conditioner for about a year (please don't do this).

My hair initially looked great and my waves were defined and frizz free, but over time my hair became very dry, stringy, dull, and started shedding. I realized I probably protein overloaded my hair.

I stopped protein products about 2 months ago and while my hair stopped shedding, it's still extremely frizzy, dry, and lifeless. I've recently gotten a haircut to help but it's still so frizzy. I put hair oil in, I've tried so many, but it stays dry and weighed down.

Has anyone had this experience and has any recommendations on how to fix it? Any products? Thank you in advance

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 How to get pin straight hair?

I’m asian and I have thick, straight hair, but my hair is not PIN STRAIGHT and I want it to be pin straight.

I blow dry my hair til 100% dry but I still wake up in the morning with dents in my hair (if that makes sense). It’s as if I slept with wet hair and brushing my hair out does not help.

I also have curtain bangs but they naturally shape my face (if that makes sense) and I hate it because it accentuates my round face. Yes, I’m in the process of growing it. I want my bangs to be straight!

Please don’t say straighten it everyday because that’s very tiring and I feel like that will damage my hair a lot. I need some permanent solutions. Anyone??

🔎 Product Question 🔎 Query about sulfate free shampoos

apologies if I'm posting in the wrong place.

basically I bleached my hair around 5 months ago and I love it, I have fairly long, thick and extremely straight hair. the salon lady said at the time that i should use sulfate free shampoos from now on, I can't remember why though. I was using a Tofu shampoo from Lush that was sulfate free but they've recently stopped doing it and when I asked in store they said that they no longer do sulfate free shampoos. I quite like lush but I'm happy to shop elsewhere if I need to.

anyway I need a hair expert to tell me - should I be using sulfate free shampoos? I worry about it quite a lot as if using anything with sulfates in them will cause my hair to set fire. I don't even know what sulfates are 😭😭 someone please help I am not very intelligent :(

also please could somebody recommend me good shampoo :) I have lots of nice conditioner already

🔎 Product Question 🔎 looking for alternative to discontinued product

my hair is thick and wavy, so when it dries out it gets incredibly frizzy, but any sort of oil weighs it down.
I have used and loved the Inkey List Hylaronic Hair Serum, which was basically just Hyalronic acid I think, but this product has been discontinued.

Does anyone know of a hydrating anti frizz serum/spray, that I can use without styling on dry hair in the mornings to reduce frizz- that does not contain any oil?

Thank you!!

Hi ladies. Need some advice. My scalp gets very scratchy and hair becomes very oily every other day. I have tried all the expensive shampoos conditioners and blow drying it. I would like to not wash my hair so often because it takes time to wash and dry.. and I am a busy working mom!! I’ve also used dry shampoo to extend the life but it really adds half a day. Advice appreciated. How do girlies get away with washing hair once a week?!

❄️ Dandruff/Scalp Advice ❄️ Seeking scalp help for my son

Hello everyone I am seeking some advice to help my son with his scalp issues.
He has dandruff pretty badly and some areas are red and irritated and some just look dry.
His hair was medium short length. Very thick and straight and a lot of it.
We recently just cut it and now are trying to style it but don’t want to use products that will make things worse either.
Awhile ago We switched to vanicream and cetaphil shampoo with occasional use of prescription shampoo and the ordinary serum (as we were told that won’t feed fungus if that was the issue).
However he would often not dry his hair all the way when out of the shower so it would be pretty soaked for long periods which I feel like exasperated the problem. We have gotten him to start towel drying it more now.
Any suggestions on what we could be doing to help him?
He is 12 and going through puberty so he showers daily.
Thank you

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 product recommendations for color-treated, stiff hair?

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

i decided to write EVERYTHING about my hair here before asking for any recommendations! ☺️

so, i dyed it a few times with cheap black henna that probably contained PPD and other metallic salts, i dyed it once with the Wellaton black hair dye and that all happened two years ago (when my hair was a lot shorter.)

the last two times i dyed it was in feb of 2026 (cheap henna) and august of 2026 (pure henna powder + indigo powder and nothing else). im planning on dying it dark brown this winter (if my hair passes rhe strand test), and dark ashy brown is my natural hair color so it'd be me going back to my natural hair. its abt 28-30 inches long and 3 inches thick around the top, when gathered into a ponytail.

the ends stand up straight when held (for some reason) and they feel stiff. moreover, my whole hair always feels stiff. i rarely ever use a straightener and i blow dry it with heat protection. also its been shedding a lot for the past 3 months, though its slowly starting to shed less. id still like to speed up the growth process and make my hair thicker.

it takes maybe 3 hrs to air dry but idk! i suspect its low porosity because a strand didnt sink down in a glass full of water. its quite wavy, almost curly, but i prefer keeping it straight. it gets greasy every 3-4 days (scalp), though the whole length very greasy if i use heavier products such as the balea long hair elixir (pink tiny bottle).

i want it to be very shiny, veery soft, silky, with lots of princess-like movement. i want it to be voluminous at the roots but straight overall. let me know if u need any more information regarding my hair for proper recommendations. 🤍

the only drugstore in my vicinity is dm (drogerie-markt) ✨🤍

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Need advice for growing the color out of my hair

Post image
1 Upvotes

My goal is to grow the color out of my hair. My plan is to ask my colorist to dye as close to my natural as possible, and let it grow out with some periodic trims. Is it really this simple?

This is what I asked for at my last appointment, but it has faded quite a bit since my hair was previously bleached (understandable). I’m thinking/hoping the color will stick better this time?

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ How to get rid of frizz in 2b wavy hair

Post image
2 Upvotes

(English is my second language, so forgive me for any mistakes)

This is my hair after washing and finalizing with plopping and scrunching the hair with no product.

I find that using products after washing takes away movement in the hair, so I didn't use any.

I tried plopping today to try to have less frizz, but it didn't work.

My hair is wavy at the bottom, but straight on top.

I like my hair on the bottom, but it just has soooo much frizz on top.

Do you 2b girlies have any advice for this?
