Question Can you buy your own hair dye or products and bring it to a salon/stylist to use for your appointment?
I am pretty sure I know the answer to this, but would love to hear from any salon owners or stylists!

My SO is always looking for ways to cut out the amount of chemicals in our food by making things on our own, and he’s now looking to do the same for the products I use on my hair. I personally feel like the products I use are fine, but I at least want to research and explore other options (if any).
Would anyone have any suggestions on healthier brands that I can try for shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner, curl cream, gel, hair spray, etc? To note, my hair is curly and I get it dyed by a stylist at least once or twice a year.

In the last year I’ve kept getting these hairs growing near the back of my head, the strands feel thick like thread and they stick straight up. What is this? Is there any way to make it go away?

I grew my hair out for a while because I didn’t want it to look super short after getting a perm. It was pretty healthy and I even had her trim it. But now I’ve gotten a perm and I feel like Brendan Fraser in Encino man. I don’t understand why it’s so dry and frizzy and caveman like? There is even a piece that looks straight I will insert a photo. I spent $200 on this and I’m feeling pretty discouraged 😞 is this normal? It’s so crunchy. I will insert a picture of my hair before for reference. If anyone has any advice, just let me know please…It’s been about 24 hours.

Is paying 3-400$ (CAD, in Toronto, incl tax, tip, and a haircut with a stylist/colourists with 20+ years experience) what I should be doing, OR can I / should I / is it reasonable to just buy semi perm dark brown box dye from drugstore and just get a 100$ish cut and just dye myself?
My eyebrows are black, and THICK. I have come to love them over my 30+ years on this earth. However, my hair is ashy/mousey, light brown / v dark blonde ish.
I feel my natural colour washes me the F out, and I like it when my hair matches my brows - makes me look more “complete” / cohesive and my eyes look better, skin tone better, etc. so, I started dying my hair dark with box dye (always semi permanent) when I was about 18 or so. Continued doing that q6monthish for years until I got routinely enough money (like 12 years later) where I could afford to pay someone to do it for me. I’ve also had a few year or so stretches of highlights, going more blonde, etc, but I don’t like the maintenance even if I like the result and it just causes hair damage I am not keen on.
There is such a huge “oh you should never use drugstore dye” vibe in any hair salon or whatever I’ve been to. But, when I pay to get it done, I never think the results justify the 100s of dollars of cost. The 100s of dollars of cost is certainly justified when I was doing more complex things/interested in that, but when I’m not… I’m just “eh”.
So like, hairstylists/colourists, if what I want isn’t that complex, and I am just semi permanently doing box dye every 4-6ish months… and just getting a nice hair cut otherwise… is that actually horrible for my hair? Should I have been doing this the whole time? Am I getting punked paying for that? Idk.
Thank you for reading sorry it was so long and rambly.

I have fine, frizzy, wavy hair that's oily in the roots and dry on ends (been this way since I was a kid. Never bleached, only dyed it at the salon years ago). It gets tangled all the time no matter how well I've brushed it. It doesn't hold curls (heatless or from a wand) nor straightening even if I use hairspray. It doesn't retain volume no matter what I do, it lies completely flat against my scalp and very close to my face. If I decide to put it in a pony tail or bun or whatever I get flyaways the second I step out. I've used all types of shampoos, conditioners, masks, leave ins, and gels or mousses. It always either gets sticky, hard, wet-looking, or heavy and greasy. Tried multiple haircuts, nothing, it's shapeless no matter what. It drags my whole appearance down and makes me incredibly frustrated as I can never look out together even if I wear my most elegant clothes and best makeup. It's awful. I'm convinced there's a way to make it look good, and the reason is that whenever I go to more bougie areas around my town the women there always have amazing hair, no matter if they're fine or thick or bleached. So I know there must be a way, but I've been trying for years with no result.

Oftentimes it becomes triangle hair, usually after a day or so, and I'm not really a big fan of that so I was thinking of getting it layered or maybe even a different hairstyle but I'm hesitant to cut it because I like my curls/waves and it took some time to grow out. Also there isn't really any hair stylist in my town that I could ask for advice so here I am.
The "triangular hair" might not be that noticeable in the video but it gets worse with time.

Merci beaucoup!

Ive been growing my hair out for a while and im sure I'm due for a haircut by now but how bad is it? It seems like no matter what I do my hair is always a messy tangled mess even right after a cut. I just don't really know what to do with it as I grow it longer, I'm worried this is just what it'll be like.

Hello!
I (31F) am getting a bit obsessed with the idea that I’m losing too much hair. Idk if I’m falling for the late propaganda on making women hate themselves everyday, but at the same time I would like to control this before it gets worst.
I also did some blood analysis, and I am lacking iron that I’m integrating now. Do you guys have any advice? I would really appreciate it 🙏

I have a very round head and have had curtain bangs + long hair for the last few years. I feel like it’s the most flattering on me, but I’m potentially interested in switching it up for my next appointment.
Would love suggestions for other styles/cuts that might work on me (shorter bags? Side bangs? Wolfcut?)
Its not that long but it has started to fall more aggressively, should i cut it?

Hi, I have short thin fine hair and it’s dry too. But I love the look of blowdried bouncy hair. Yay me. Can someone suggest me a brand AND which tool or brush from the brand?
Before i pull the trigger & buy a Dyson…. Even then I need suggestions on which one to get. I would even appreciate a cheaper brand option like Lady Jayne brushes.
Help please!!!🙏 i am in Australia - if that gives context.

Hello. i have shoulder length thin 2c waves (on the looser side) but quite the amount of hair. I like to wear my hair in a half up half Down. i normally use Claw clip, but after breaking so many of them I decided to switch to a french barrete. I love how it sits so Flat to my scalp but I cant help feeling like it is too loose and not nearly as secure and easily adjustable as a Claw clip.
do you have the same problems with this type of clip? How did you solve them? Is it just my barrete that is bad quality or that I dont know how to place it? A hair tie is not an option because half up half Down with it gives me the ick.
thanks

I have neutral olive skin and my natural hair color is very dark brown. I have tried many different hairs and now my hair is navy blue. I am thinking of dyeing it red or blue black, but I am open to different suggestions. I hate it when my skin looks green. What hair color can I avoid the most?

I dont use heat almost at all. Maybe a few times a year but I use great products and heat protection. I do sleep in a satin cap. I dont wear ponytail nor do I braid my hair. I try to brush it as less as possible and If I do I make sure I start from the bottom working my way all the way to the top. I do use hair oil daily. Hair mask weekly.
The breakage starts at the lenght of my ears and it doesn't seem to grow down! If it grows down ill cut it off but now I just cant.

They all have actual pin straight hair and that’s how I always thought mine was. I also always had frizzy hair when I’d brush it and leave it down or put it in a pony after brushing. At my ripe 26 years old I’ve learned my hair is actually wavy and i dont know if I care for it properly. My hair is colored so I use color sensitive shampoo and conditioner, and I’ve generally always let my hair just air dry, rarely style it or hardly EVER blow dry it. It’s always a natural dry. I’m posting what my hair looks like when naturally dried with no brushing, but i don’t have pics right now of brushing after dried or when wet. I’m just curious because I feel like my hair looks so weird when I just let it air dry and don’t brush it. But again brushing it frizzes the heck out of it?? I try to detangle with my fingers but it still looks messy. I’m just looking for anyone’s opinions, harsh or not!!! (Disclaimer my mirror is dirty.)

I have a haircut appt later this week and would super appreciate any recommendations for how to get it cut. I have a round face and my hair is fine and has some density loss on the top. I had it shoulder length for a long time but cut it short a few years ago.
My general go to now is kind of a more professional fauxhawk?? I need it away from my ears for sensory issues, but want to still have some curl :( what can I do that will actually look good with what I have?

I have curly hair but it starts to get less curly at the end of the day but instead of falling flat, it like flys out sideways, also when it does that it feels alot more tangled than normal
