AltChar - Asmir Kovacevic - 9 / 10
I went into Modern Warfare 4 expecting another tired chapter of a reboot that had lost its way, and I came out of it with a campaign I’ll be thinking about for a long time. Infinity Ward didn’t reinvent Call of Duty here; it took everything the series does best, the shooting, the set pieces and the cinematic storytelling, and pushed each of them further than ever before.
Arakat Mag - Poyraz Akyol - Turkish - 8.4 / 10
If, like me, you're still playing the Call of Duty series for its single-player campaigns, I can confidently say that Infinity Ward's four years of hard work have more than paid off. This is hands down the best campaign experience I've had since 2019's Modern Warfare.
Bastidores - Matheus Fragata - Portuguese - 4 / 5
Modern Warfare 4 closes Price’s saga with a grounded, well-paced campaign, even if a wasted villain and shaky enemy AI keep it from greatness.
BaziCenter - Arash Sefidi - Persian - 8.5 / 10
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 marks a successful return to form for the franchise, and although the multiplayer experience offers little innovation, the combination of an explosive single-player campaign and the reinstatement of DMZ mode restores the series' core identity, serving as an enticing bridge for lapsed fans.
BioGamer Girl - Mandy Valentine - 9.5 / 10
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 succeeds because it respects its own rich history while boldly refining its mechanical foundations.
But Why Tho? - Kyle Foley - 8.5 / 10
The Modern Warfare 4 campaign is what Modern Warfare III should have been three years ago. It has all the ear-ringing spectacle you want from a blockbuster shooter, and it isn’t afraid to show what that spectacle costs the people pulling the triggers.
CGMagazine - Erik McDowell - 9 / 10
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is an exceptional finale to an uneven series. Its return to brutal, linear action and resolute storytelling makes it one of the best Call of Duty
COGconnected - Trevor Houston - 88 / 100
Call of Duty might not always get the critical recognition it deserves, but with Modern Warfare 4, Infinity Ward has delivered an experience that’s easy to recommend.
Cerealkillerz - Gabriel Bogdan - German - 8.9 / 10
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 marks a triumphant comeback, delivering one of the best campaigns in years, meaningful improvements to DMZ, and exactly the return to the classic multiplayer feel that fans have been waiting for. While the mix of two parallel storylines doesn’t always quite come together, and the new multiplayer maps occasionally lack variety, the game otherwise delivers the kind of entry the series has been missing. For fans of the franchise, this is finally a Call of Duty title they can buy without a second thought.
Chicas Gamers - Daniel López - Spanish - 8.6 / 10
A brilliant campaign and a surprising DMZ mode rescue a package weighed down by a traditional multiplayer rendered frustrating by SBMM, yet built upon solid mechanics. Without a doubt, the best Call of Duty in recent years.
Completexbox - Jordan Campbell - 95%
Many Call of Duty campaigns have struggled to hold my attention for very long, so much so that I had to do previous games in short sessions. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s campaign delivered a memorable, superbly polished experience, which I finished in around eight hours, in one go. Throughout the campaign, I felt like I was living through a cinematic movie and interacting with it. I can confidently say that I haven’t seen anything that looks as stunning as this game on an Xbox Series X yet, and recent games like Gears of War E-Day have also blown me away.
If you’re on the fence about Call of Duty this year, let me tell you that even the campaign alone is seriously impressive. This is without the rest of the package to come, which continues with DMZ on the 20th October 2026, online multiplayer on the 23rd October 2026 and Warzone to follow in November. That said, I am definitely diving in for a second attempt at the story on realism mode. If you want to secure your copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 with the Standard or Vault edition, you can grab it HERE.
From the frontline to the shadows, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has delivered a thrilling dual-perspective campaign that reminds us why Call of Duty remains gaming’s blockbuster king, simply stunning!
CrazyGameCommunity.it - Davide Fanelli - Italian - 8.5 / 10
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 does what a Call of Duty game should do: it reminds everyone why we keep coming back year after year—despite the frustrations, the cheaters, and the questionable matchmaking.
Cubed3 - Amaan Bhimani - 9 / 10
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is a long-awaited return to form. Its campaign is one of the series’ best, DMZ is easy to get lost in, and multiplayer holds its weight through tactical and punchy combat. The Switch 2 port might not be as detailed and visually polished as the other versions, but it's a more than adequate way to experience an entry that feels like Call of Duty—and the FPS genre—at its peak.
DayOne - Győző Baki - 9 / 10
Could Modern Warfare 4 have been a bit more bold and daring? Perhaps, but the end result is one of the most rock solid Call of Duty games ever made, one that anyone even slightly interested in this franchise should really consider playing. Infinity Ward knocked it out of the park with this one, and I can see myself losing countless hours to this game throughout its life cycle.
Digital Chumps - Ben Sheene - 9.5 / 10
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 might be the closing of a chapter but it is closing on a series high. Both its campaign and multiplayer are a callback to beloved eras but in DMZ, Infinity Ward has potentially found a new permanent mode players will get lost in.
Digitale Anime - Raouf Belhamra - Arabic - 9 / 10
"A powerful return and conclusion to the Modern Warfare series" Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 offers an engaging single-player campaign that blends fast-paced combat, cinematic presentation, and mission variety—even providing players with extra room to explore through the semi-open "Stranded" mission. The experience is further enhanced by detailed graphics, exceptional sound design, and strong voice acting. However, inconsistent narrative quality, the negligible impact of player choices, and certain issues with AI and technical performance prevent the game from reaching its full potential. Its ultimate success as a complete package will depend on the quality and stability of its other game modes following launch.
DualShockers - Usama Mehmood - 7.5 / 10
It's not the flawless return to form I'd hoped for, and its multiplayer still has a few screws loose, but between a campaign that gives Price a worthwhile send-off and a DMZ mode that's dangerously good at making me stay for that "one more run" mentality, Infinity Ward has reminded me why this franchise was such a big part of my gaming years in the first place.
Evilgamerz - Daan Nijboer - Dutch - 8.8 / 10
Modern Warfare 4 is the Call of Duty the series needed after a few weaker years. The campaign finally features missions that really stick with you again. The nightclub and the chase for Makarov, in particular, show just how good Infinity Ward still is at tightly directed action. The multiplayer is back to the pace of MW2019 and many times better than the previous game, Black Ops 7. Of course, not every aspect of Modern Warfare 4 is perfect, and as far as I'm concerned, the open-world mission could have been scrapped without any problems. But as a total package, this is the strongest Call of Duty in years and a convincing final installment for Task Force 141.

Game Sandwich - John Hansen - 7 / 10
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is a good package when taken as a whole. If you have been waiting for a return to form for CoD campaigns, I believe the single-player here is definitely the best of the rebooted Modern Warfare games. Multiplayer is about as standard as it gets, which may be good for the regular players, but it hasn’t been impressive or surprising for a very long time. In total, Modern Warfare 4 is pretty on par with, or slightly above, Call of Duty releases in the last decade, which isn't a bad thing. It's just not necessarily something worthy of great discussion.
GameRant - Dalton Cooper - 10 / 10
Modern Warfare 4 is the best Call of Duty since Black Ops 2, with a blockbuster campaign, endlessly fun multiplayer, and solid DMZ mode.
GameSpot - S.E. Doster - 7 / 10
Modern Warfare 4 wraps up the series with several shocking moments and ends on a high note.
Gamemeca - Kim Hyung Jong - Korean - 88 / 100
The game is set against the backdrop of a fictional Second Korean War. The storytelling was captivating, delivering an unfiltered showcase of what a blockbuster AAA title should be. While the campaign itself is robust and polished, the familiarity of experiencing Koreans own era and living environment injected an even deeper sense of immersion and engagement. In particular, it is packed with elements that will resonate strongly with Korean players, especially men who have served their mandatory military duty.
GamesCreed - Maisie Scott - 4.3 / 5
Modern Warfare 4 is one of the series' better recent campaigns, supported by satisfying gunplay and a variety of missions. It is content-rich and polished, but repetitive objectives and grinding hold it back.
Gaming Boulevard - Jean de Coster - 9 / 10
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 had a lot to fix after the last COD release one year ago. Infinity Ward had to deliver and did so in a back-to-basics way. The game is stunning, action-packed, yet grounded in what Modern Warfare stands for. Its story is personal, and the gameplay is tight and refreshing, with lots of believable places that breathe life and will keep you on the edge of your seat. There’s tons of replay value, with some amazing levels that can extend the campaign by a few extra hours. If that’s not enough, DMZ feels like a free, separate game that is likely to see many updates in the future if you’re into fleshed-out extraction shooters. And then there’s the stellar multiplayer that delivers with Kill Block, a mode that could become its own esports platform, where skill stands above the usual “pay-to-win” loadouts from some other modes. While some later levels, especially the snow levels, lack the visual fidelity of the earlier Paris missions, Infinity Ward shows that it can make a beautiful game that is still action-packed and delivers grounded and solid gameplay. If only they could fix that pesky download mess and optimize the install size on consoles to something more reasonable. But once you’re in, NO MORE RULES!
GamingBolt - Ravi Sinha - 8 / 10
Even if it didn't have to clear a very high bar, this year's Call of Duty campaign features endearing characters, a compelling plot, and crisp gameplay sans much of the nonsense of previous years.
GamingTrend - David Burdette - 87 / 100
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 boasts the series most well-rounded experience. Excellent outings for campaign, multiplayer, and the outstanding DMZ mode come together to make for a strong Modern Warfare entry, and possibly the best of the reboot series. Infinity Ward has found their magic again – this is how you evolve a long-running franchise.
Hobby Consolas - David Rodriguez - Spanish - 85 / 100
Appealing to the high-flying campaigns of the golden age, rebuilding the successes of 2019's Modern Warfare, delivering a well-structured multiplayer experience, and adding a distinctive mode like DMZ, this new Call of Duty is that last bullet in the chamber that manages to hit the target.
IGN - Simon Cardy - 7/10
Another year, another Call of Duty. This time it’s developer Infinity Ward’s turn to deliver the next chapter in its Modern Warfare saga, and it does so impressively in an all-action campaign full of twists and turns. Moments of consequence are aplenty in a particularly dark tale of personal vendettas and explosive invasions, played out across a set of missions that largely hit the mark. The single-player shines, then, but the multiplayer portion of Modern Warfare 4 is quite a bit duller. Solid foundations and a novel new arena ensure there’s plenty of fun to be had, but the majority of its new modes and maps do little to excite due to some unimaginative design choices and awkward spawn positions. The combination of these two halves is a much-needed reminder of what Call of Duty can be at its best, even if it can’t fully recapture the heights of its glory days.
INFINITY AREA - Florian Prache - French - 9 / 10
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 finally delivers the return to its roots that I've been waiting for for so many years! With a spectacular single-player campaign, a storyline worthy of a true Hollywood blockbuster, interesting narrative choices, and incredibly satisfying gameplay, this installment has completely won me over.
I loved being immersed once again in that intense military atmosphere, enhanced by stunning graphics, excellent French voice acting, and outstanding PC optimization.
Despite a few imperfections and a campaign lasting around six hours that unfortunately comes to an end far too quickly for my liking, I had an absolute blast playing through this adventure.
For me, Modern Warfare 4 undoubtedly features one of the best single-player campaigns the franchise has delivered in a very long time. An absolute favorite that I wholeheartedly recommend to Call of Duty fans and anyone who enjoys story-driven military shooters.
INVEN - Chanhwi Kim - Korean - 8.3 / 10
While the campaign of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 isn’t storytelling perfection, it gives fans a long-awaited taste of that classic Call of Duty experience. Furthermore, learning from the previous installment's mistakes, the DMZ mode has improved by leaps and bounds. On the downside, the direction of the multiplayer mode at launch feels puzzling and raises some eyebrows.
Life is Xbox - Aaron - 88 / 100
Modern Warfare 4 brings almost a decade of storytelling to a climactic conclusion with its amazing set pieces, strong performances, and surprising moral choices. A new and improved DMZ mode will bring newcomers and series veterans back for more, and multiplayer is as energetic and engaging as ever. Despite the short campaign length, there is a lot of content on offer here that Call of Duty fans can sink their teeth into.
Loot Level Chill - Mick Fraser - 9 / 10
As a package, Modern Warfare 4 is unarguably the best Call of Duty has been in some time.
Lords Of Gaming - Mahmood Ghaffar - 8.6 / 10
All things come to an end, and Modern Warfare 4 brings a strong conclusion to one of gaming’s longest-running annual franchises. This is one of the series’ tightest and most enthralling campaigns since the 2019 reboot and delivers a high-octane ride, with a noticeable DMZ training mission in the middle that might irk some players. All in all, Modern Warfare 4 brings a strong ending in a new and refreshing setting that will undoubtedly resonate strongly with players.
Nindie Spotlight - Justin Nation - 9 / 10
One of the premiere first-person shooter series is back on a Nintendo system, and pretty well no matter what flavor you prefer you should find a satisfying match
Nintendo Life - Gavin Lane - 9 / 10
Whether you should invest in the first CoD on a Nintendo platform for over a decade comes down to the old Switch port chestnuts: Do you own another platform, and how much do you value portability? Call of Duty veterans who have followed closely its highs and lows over the last decade could probably knock a point off the score below; you likely won't be as wowed by MW4's sheer spectacle, but you should definitely play it somewhere. For anyone with a Switch 2 who's been waiting a long time to answer the Call, though, this is an excellent demonstration of why this crusty series still matters to so many. It's a bold, bombastic shooter, and it's now running very well on Nintendo hardware, day-and-date with other platforms. Oorah, indeed.
PPE.pl - Wojciech Gruszczyk - Polish - 9 / 10
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 marks an excellent return to form for Infinity Ward, which has crafted a gripping story, full of emotion, surprising twists and spectacular missions. The campaign impresses with its variety of gameplay, superb direction and two distinct perspectives on the conflict, although not all storylines have been given sufficient attention. It is one of the biggest positive surprises in the Call of Duty series in recent years, but the biggest let-down is the fact that the entire adventure is over after just 6–7 hours.
PSX Brasil - Paulo Roberto Montanaro - Portuguese - 90 / 100
Back on track, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 recovers from previous stumbles (mainly in MW3 and BO7) and, in a safe and steady manner without any major surprises, delivers an exciting campaign, truly engaging modes for both single-player and multiplayer, spectacular graphics and sound, and the same precise and satisfying gameplay as always. It doesn’t take any risks, but it’s undoubtedly the best game in the series in a decade-and possibly one of the best CoD games of all time.
Pizza Fria - Álvaro Saluan da Cunha - Portuguese - 8.5 / 10
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is, for me, one of the most complete experiences the series has delivered in recent years.
Polygon - Ford James - Unscored
Narratively, I'm left with questions, but in terms of everything else Modern Warfare 4's campaign offers, this is one for the history books.
PC Gamer - Morgan Park - 85/100
Modern Warfare 4 is the bar that this series should regularly aspire to, and a reminder that Call of Duty benefits when it actually tries to change.
Press Start - Adam Mathew - 8.5 / 10
MW4 ain't perfect but it gets the fundamentals so right that IW's conservatism starts looking less like a lack of ambition and more like a much-needed intervention. The campaign delivers proper spectacle, DMZ generates the sort of unscripted chaos that makes you forget what time it is, and MP finally remembers that a shootout should be decided by who's better with a gat, not who's better at off-the-wall interpretive dance. The matchmaking and map/spawn issues need squelching, but they're blemishes on an otherwise superb package.
ProGamers.life - Javier Marticho - Spanish - 9 / 10
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 cements Infinity Ward’s triumphant return, marking a genuine, next-generation technical leap. With stunning visuals and impeccable sound design, this installment demonstrates that lessons have been learned from past mistakes; meanwhile, it delivers an intense narrative that balances action with raw emotional depth amidst a conflict between the Koreas, establishing itself as the most impactful experience of the entire reboot era.
SECTOR.sk - Peter Dragula - Slovak - 9 / 10
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 delivers one of the best experiences in the series in recent years. With an intense and varied campaign, a surprisingly deep DMZ mode, and excellent multiplayer that balances fast-paced action with tactical gameplay, it offers something for everyone. Despite a few flaws, it's a fitting conclusion to the Modern Warfare saga.
SavePoint Gaming - Fran J. Ruiz - 8.5 / 10
With a comprehensive selection of core multiplayer modes, a convincing take on extraction shooters, and the strongest – albeit rushed at times – campaign of this rebooted sub-series, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is a slam dunk from Infinity Ward and the support studios that proves the franchise is at its best when developers are given extra time to cook.
Screen Rant - James Lynch - 8 / 10
Modern Warfare 4 had a tough time on its hands bringing the story into line, but it does an amazing job of just that in a relatively limited runtime.
Skewed & Reviewed - Gareth von Kallenbach - 4.5 / 5
The game has never looked better graphically and the sound captured the moments perfectly.
Smash Jump - Chris Melnyk - 8 / 10
Overall, Modern Warfare 4 is a great game. The sound quality and graphics are a step up from its predecessor. It goes to show that moving on from a previous console generation can make all the difference. It boasts a thrilling campaign that is a far cry in all of the best ways from its predecessors. It also makes for a great sendoff. Additionally, its multiplayer goes hand-in-hand with the fun, making playing against other players the most addictive in a while.
The Games Machine - Alessandro Alosi - Italian - 8.5 / 10
Infinity Ward brings Call of Duty back on track with a spectacular campaign, refined multiplayer, and a deeper, more rewarding DMZ experience. Despite some narrative shortcomings, uneven AI, and occasional repetition, Modern Warfare IV delivers one of the most enjoyable and complete entries in the series in recent years.
The Outerhaven Productions - Jordan Andow - 5 / 5
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 delivers the franchise’s best experience in years, combining an outstanding single-player campaign with excellent multiplayer and a significantly improved DMZ mode.
TryAGame! - Guillaume Dreher - French - 8 / 10
Very good opus than this Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4. Spectacular, giving choice in his multiplayer without necessarily renewing himself too much. The DMZ mode will convince some players, the others will return to the classic modes that also bring their novelties. You should not be disappointed.
Twisted Voxel - Muhammad Ali Bari - 9 / 10
With a strong campaign, a standout DMZ mode, and familiar competitive multiplayer, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is arguably the most compelling entry in years.
Uagna - Andrea Peroni - Italian - 8.3 / 10
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 marks a convincing comeback for Infinity Ward, thanks above all to a spectacular campaign and a solid multiplayer mode, enhanced by the excellent Kill Block. DMZ is an interesting addition, but it’s still too similar to Warzone to fully realize its potential. While it doesn’t revolutionize the formula, MW4 is a well-rounded, entertaining installment that restores confidence in the series’ future.
Videogiocare.it - Filippo Visconti - Italian - 8.3 / 10
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 brings the series back to form with a thrilling campaign, outstanding gunplay, excellent Italian voice acting, and a strong multiplayer offering. The revamped DMZ adds even more value, making this one of the most satisfying Call of Duty entries in years.
ZdobywcyGier.eu - Paweł Bortkiewicz - Polish - 8.5 / 10
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 marks a true return to form. The campaign is spectacular, brilliantly written and executed, and the story of the Marines squad, along with the heavy themes it tackles, makes it one of the best campaigns in the series’ history. DMZ has finally become a full-fledged mode that can keep players engaged for a long time, and while the multiplayer is polished and incredibly fun to play, it offers too few new features compared to its predecessors. If you’ve skipped the latest entries in the series, Modern Warfare 4 is the perfect time to jump back in.
