a few days ago i had a deep talk with a friend about my attempts to get love and she said "you not a teenager anymore, people your age expect/have to act different" and that was so saddening, i never got the chance to get the teenage romance, and know i'm supposed to skip to the adult more tough version

Same. I also used to be sad that I never told my school crush that I love her. I still daydream of my middle school crush every single day even though I'm 24 now. But here's the thing, throughout our life we are told to act according to our age and circumstances. We don't have to. People who play video games in their old age are example of that. If you want to love someone, go for it. Don't let your fears ruin it for you. But don't regret, if you don't either. Life's not meant to be filled with regrets.

This is gonna sound crazy but I’m 25 and I recently went back and reconnected with a lot of my old crushes platonically, and told them that I liked them as a kid. It gave me a very weird sense of closure and they were all really nice about it, especially because I let them know part of why I was telling them was because I was trying to learn that people wouldn’t think I was weird if I told them stuff like that and to be less scared in those types of conversations. It’s been so enlightening and healing for me to learn the ways each of them actually saw me back in my adolescence and how it deeply diverged from the way I viewed myself, which was always extremely negative. Not saying you should do this, but I had nothing to lose, and I started out with normal casual conversation first. Just putting this here in case it can help anyone else

I’m not sure how people can expect someone who never experienced teen love or who’ve never had a relationship to be mature about things or know what they are doing. Of course you’ll be awkward and nervous and perhaps sometimes childish because you don’t know any better.

Or rather the fact that because you missed out your chances are 0 as an adult, therefore you leave romance behind. Like I did. The ship has sailed for many of us, and thats the painful truth many of us have to get used to.

I honestly don't care if I'm not someone's first.

Me neither. I'd much rather be their last than their first

I know it sounds horribly petty and it is, but I just turned 30 and I literally can’t stand seeing happy groups of young people in public, it makes me not want to go out anymore.

I have decided to embrace lifetime celibacy and ascetism by 30. Wish me luck.

Same. Just hate it that people keep annoying me sometimes about " how much I could offer a woman " and " you should get kids now ". After becoming succesfull of course somehow society expects me to do all that.
Funny when I started out I was the most evil person alive because I was male and I was supposedly going to treat women bad and whatnot. Turned out to not be true and now I am the evil because I am not dating and just leaving women alone as I had been told all my 20's.
Funny how its never good no matter what you do, so I shall live by myself and enjoy my own life.

The feeling that my future partner supposedly could've been in multiple relationships when I got none is depressing

In a way, I'm kinda glad to be forever alone and inexperienced. Only someone who doesn't get things easily can really appreciate the beauty of all these things of life, unlike those who get it easily and take it for granted.
We don't have to be sad about it. We don't have to experience something to enjoy life. Life can be lived in a different way.

Don’t obsess over being someone’s first or whatever that even means. That kinda thinking is just gonna make you miserable and honestly make it harder to have a real relationship when one actually comes along.
A lot of ppl don’t have some magical teenage romance. Half the time it’s just teenage messes, stupidity, bad communication and everyone being awkward as hell.
You’re turning 20. Congrats, you’re getting older, hopefully getting a little wiser, learning how to talk to ppl better and actually build real relationships.
Don’t waste your time acting like your life is over because you didn’t date at 16. You’re hella young. You didn’t miss the boat, you’re barely at the dock.

People who say this don't get that that's exactly what we're sad about. We never even had the opportunity to have a messy awkward teenage romance and learn from our mistakes.

In average sense you are correct but you can't skip low level and jump to more hard level in the terms of experience. And your time keep going and you must be wiser but you even don't know what about talk with ppl Sorry for English

I think it’s a reference to sweet and bitter. Coffee with cream and sugar being sweet and black coffee being bitter
