New Chassis Model
Our team has had to create an entirely new chassis because our last one failed SES and was against the rules in multiple areas. This is the design of the new chassis, could yall give some feedback.

I want to join a formula student as a computer engineer. At the moment i have 0 coding experience, but i still have 7 months before going to uni. So what things or skills should i have, so i could be a stronger candidate for the team?

I'm just wondering what the intent is for this rule.
Does this mean we can't bolt through the chassis floor anymore eg. for seatbelt mounts, FRH etc as the bolt head or threads depending on orientation would sit lower than the floor?

This is my first time designing a chassis for 2027. I am a bit confused about the rear box triangulation where the diff will be and the floor depression triangulations

My team recently switched from 13 inch to 10 inch but we are having trouble finding brake rotors that will fit. Are there any brakes that fit inside the 10 inch rim but have a 4x100 bolt pattern?

Is it possible to work in this department as a freshman? And if so how has you experience been in this department? Has the knowledge acquired from Fsae helped you in exams?

Teams using dp420 for IA
Do you sand blast or do some surface prep to the AIP ?
We are using a 4mm aluminium aip
No surface prep has been done on it currently

How is the IC engine usually mounted on the chassis? What is the standard process when you have your engine and supports ready, and you need to weld the brackets to the chassis before bolting the engine in? Is it common to build an auxiliary jig to hold the engine in place and weld the supports right next to it, or could the welding like harm the engine? Another option I would thinks is building a dummy piece that replicates the engine's mounting hole geometry and welding the supports using that as a reference. Like, how do you ensure the engine will fit and be perfectly oriented after the supports are welded?

Hi everyone,
I’m a mechanical engineering student and I’m looking for a CAD model of the Honda CBR650R engine (649 cc inline-four, same family as the CB650R and CBR650F). [It’s for a Formula Student project / for fitting the engine into a custom chassis.]
I’ve searched GrabCAD, 3DCADBrowser and others, but I only find full-bike meshes or CBR600RR engines. What I need is the engine alone, ideally in STEP or SolidWorks format, even if it’s simplified (just the external envelope, mounting points and output shaft position would be enough).
Does anyone have one, or know where I could find it? I’d also be happy with:

Our Formula Student team is building a car from scratch using a 2024 Honda CBR600RR engine, and we're planning to run it with an ECUMaster EMU Black ECU.
We're currently deciding between two options:
We're a relatively new team when it comes to engine wiring, so we'd really appreciate advice from people who have experience with CBR600RR engines, standalone ECUs, or Formula Student builds.
A few questions:
Our goal is to build a reliable, serviceable car without spending unnecessarily or creating extra work for ourselves.
Thanks in advance for any advice or recommendations!
Alguém por um acaso consegue fazer um mod "personalizado" de carro para mim? Gostaria de saber quanto custa, se possível.

I have been saying to myself we are going to start simulating on Adams car and using the Adams suite for more stuff but i cant seem to find any up to date material on any of the programs. What do you and your teams use as onboarding material?

currently working on a project to optimize flow of exhaust and need to make comparisons but i dont have the original parts cad model. where or how can i find one to use?
also wanted to ask, is it doable to pass regulations with a oem muffler like gpr-italy

This is the rear structure of our chassis
The yellow across square tubes are for mounting motor
It’s not node to node connected with the TSPS structure
Will this design pass?
If yes please give us a reason we are new team
Or it has to be node to node
The yellow tube is the same tube we have used for our FBH
The yellow tube complies with the highlighted category
Thank you

Motomathics.com just added 2 FSAE specific tools - a "generic" FSAE car for a simple starting point and the 2026 Michigan autocross and endurance tracks as part of the track list for simulation times.

Hi r/FSAE,
I’m Daniel, co-founder of HarnessHive. Seven months ago we posted in this sub asking for initial feedback, and many of you took the time to give us great answers. Thank you, your feedback shaped what we built.
Since then we’ve rolled HarnessHive out to roughly 50 student teams.
What we do:
HarnessHive is a wire harness design tool that runs in your browser. You draw the harness once, and the schematic, wiring layout, BOM with cut lengths, and a 1:1 formboard all stay in sync.
Future roadmap:
E/MCAD integrations are still under development (KiCad, Onshape, etc.).
What we currently offer:
FS teams get an extended trial instead of the usual 14 days, so you can test HarnessHive on a real harness before committing. After the trial, HarnessHive stays free for active teams with no seat limit, so your whole team can use it and we align on a suitable sponsorship agreement.
How to get started:
Happy to answer questions in the comments.

Hi everyone,
This is my first year in Formula Student, and I’m preparing a chassis for Formula Student UK. I’ve attached pictures of it and would really appreciate a review from anyone with experience in the rules or at scrutineering.
I’d like feedback on:

Hey everyone!
Sooo, my girlfriend is part of a Formula Student team in France, EMRT, based in Metz.
She's in charge of communications and is also part of the composites team!
Her interview just dropped, and it would be amazing if we could help the post blow up!
So, if you've got a minute, could you go check it out and show her some support? It would mean a lot!
From a fellow engineer, thanks a ton, everyone!

Hi all, I’ve been lucky enough to be invited to an assessment center in the coming weeks as an electronic engineer.
I was just wondering if anyone who may have done the same role or gotten to that stage knows what to expect and maybe where I should put my energy in these coming weeks. I am particularly weary about my technical ability as I’m only in second year so a lot of my knowledge is first principles as opposed to automotive engineering specific.

Hi everyone, I just started FSAE at my school and my first project is to redesign their intake. I have no experience with this kind of thing, and no fluids class (just started university this year), so can anyone recommend things for me to look at or read? Right now I just have some general ideas and am testing things out in flow simulation. Thank you!

Hey guys,
I've started a Master's at a new university, and they've already got an established team using EV since 2010. Do you reckon it would be a good idea to start another team focused on IC engines?

Hello, I am developing a cooling system for the engine of a Yamaha XT660R (2C11), which is a single-cylinder 660cc engine, being applied in a Formula SAE prototype. I am developing a project in which the internal mechanical water pump will be replaced by an external electric one, and I am in doubt regarding the EBP40 pump: whether it can be operated in this engine without problems, mainly in relation to flow loss in the internal pipes of the engine and the radiator.
I say this because I asked another team, which uses the EWP80 in a 4-cylinder CBR600RR engine, also in another Formula SAE prototype, and this pump has a flow rate of 80 l/min, but in practice it operates at 30 l/min, without overheating problems. With this, my main doubt is whether there is pressure loss in the EBP40 pump when used in the XT660R or a similar engine with a customized radiator system.
