I have a question for the people who give out candy to the trick or treaters.
Why do you turn away tall teenagers? Especially when they dress up in a costume?
So many people don’t give teenagers candy but they’ll give babies that are months old candy, but they literally can’t eat it.
I just wanna know your reason. I’d give candy out to adults that dress up. Older people need to have fun too!

Just got the alert, right after the snow started falling in south Edmonton and now downtown.

I've held off on this post for a while but I've had enough. Whoever had the bright idea of closing the West entrance to the high-level, and then followed through with it should be charged for treason. Then someone says "that's not enough, they can still get South using 106 st. CLOSE THAT ONE TOO!"
I get that construction is necessary here, but how about actually working on it instead of closing it and leaving it for months.
There is no reason on God's green earth that it should take me 3x as long to get from South Wihkwentowin to Mill Woods. Don't even get me started on the 100 st and 99 ave intersection that has turned into a scene straight out of Gotham, which would be as clear as the blue summer sky if they kept the West entrance open. And don't forget how they sent out plans last year saying they are closing that exit from the neighborhood entirely.
The new high level bridge needs at least 5 lanes. I'll admit, it is wishful thinking to think they'll even finish it in less than 50 years so that I can see it before I'm gone. Alas I have made it out of downtown, still half an hour to my destination. Stay safe out there folks, both drivers and pedestrians alike.

Wheaton Honda… We gotta talk.
On August 22nd, I picked up a vehicle from their used sales lot. What should have been a straightforward purchase came with a couple of issues, including being told an OEM windshield would be installed, only to find out it was aftermarket.
However, the bigger issue came on pickup day, when I was informed at the last minute that the vehicle only came with one key.
About a week later, I contacted the previous owner, who confirmed that both keys had been handed over when the vehicle was sold. I brought this information to my salesperson, who told me he would discuss the issue with his manager and get back to me.
It has now been over two months, and I still haven’t received an update.
I even tried reaching out through their Instagram comments to get someone’s attention. Instead of receiving a response or any attempt to resolve the issue, I was blocked.
The missing key is one issue. The complete lack of follow-up and communication is another. I’m not asking for anything unreasonable. I’m asking for the dealership to follow through, communicate with me, and address an issue I brought to their attention in good faith.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Wheaton Honda. A dealership’s responsibility to its customers shouldn’t end the moment the sale is complete. If you’re considering purchasing a vehicle here, I’d strongly recommend getting everything confirmed in writing before signing or taking delivery.
I would have made a different decision had I known this was how a post-sale concern would be handled.

I live in North Glenora, and when I moved here a couple of years ago this brand new infill house was listed for sale in the same area as me: https://www.realtor.ca/real-estate/30444139/10954-135-st-nw-edmonton-north-glenora
According to this most recent MLS listing it was built in 2021, but I could swear that older MLS listings showed it was built in 2024. Regardless, this brand new house has been on and off of MLS over the past couple of years. It just popped up again with a lower price yesterday.
Does anyone know the story behind this house? Have you been inside? The fact it's brand new and has sat empty and unsold for years has got my curiosity piqued.
Please don't turn this into an infill discussion. There's lots of infill in the area that's similar that has sold without issue for the same price or higher.

just wanna say good on you bud, you got two trucks now, I am so glad business is good for you. I do miss your wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube man though, I loved driving by and that guy was there, but the balloons and Christmas lights do the trick to.
thats all I wanted to say, it makes me very happy to see this dudes business grow, I hope to see a third truck one day.

Hello, I’ve recently acquired a fairly valuable and old heavy knit wool sweater. There’s a few holes/fraying and zipper coming off. I want to see if anyone knows of a place or person that specializes in these types of repairs? Thanks!

Did anyone else notice there is a data centre push for North of McConachie? I have read about the Virginia data centers and how much air pollution they cause, and it gives me the creeps. People there complain about the noise, light, fumes and a lot of people seem to have cardiac problems...even young people.
In Alberta, an Environmental impact assessment is not required for data centers. That is nuts to me. They release a lot of fumes because of diesel and natural gas generators.
Am I feeling nervous for nothing? Does anyone know about data centres and the risks (or lack of?) to people?
"The proposed project would encompass roughly 253 hectares (625 acres) of land, making it roughly five times the size of West Edmonton Mall. Walton envisions the site becoming one of the largest master-planned digital infrastructure and computing districts in North America." Yikes...

I would assume apartments or something, but there's no signage for a developer or anything and the work seems different than other apartment projects. Does anyone have any insight?

Ive been seeing Halloween slowly evaporating, I've moved into a neighborhood where, average 100 houses, two have decorations. Does your neighborhood do trick or treat, how's the turnout ?

I headed to MacEwan University to conduct on-the-ground street interviews outside the clock tower, capturing student and community perspectives on the recent fallout from campus security's forceful handling of a peaceful demonstration. Speaking directly with students, alumni, and participants, I documented powerful accounts of the escalation, including reports of aggressive security tactics, student detainment, and the subsequent mobilization of the campus community pushing back against institutional silence.
Through these conversations, my interviews highlighted the core demands driving the demonstrations: calls for full financial transparency and divestment from ties associated with the conflict, fierce defense of student speech rights, and deep concerns over accountability and safety on campus.

I (25F) woke up yesterday with excruciating pain my right side of my face and jaw. I realized my gums are completely swollen and I’m having trouble swallowing and speaking. My trouble is I work retail and I forgot to reapply for Canadian Dental Plan. I applied immediately yesterday but it’s going to take some time for plan to get approved. I got my antibiotics through a doctor on rocket doctor. But, he insisted I should go to the dentist today. I’m just very worried about the cost of it all. I would really appreciate some advice. I feel like I’ve hit the wall.

In previous years my team at work volunteered at Santa's Anonymous sorting toys and building packages to be delivered. This year we were a little slow on the sign up and Santa's Anonymous is no longer looking for volunteers (which is awesome they have that many people interested).
With us not being able to volunteer at Santa's Anonymous, does anyone have any suggestions on another spot a group of colleagues could go to volunteer? Ideally looking for something during the week, and ideally during work hours.
Thanks in advance.

Did they run that red, or did they slide through it?
Roads are not great this morning. (South side from Nisku to Edmonton) Take your time and drive safe.
P.s: If you have your hazards on, please stay to the right. Don’t block the lanes because you didn’t put your winter tires on.
P.ps: To the individual with their hazards on while driving like a maniac swerving in and out of traffic on the QE2. Ya that doesn’t make what you were doing any better.

I read some posts hearing about a very very strong sulfur smell in other areas of Edmonton. Now it's in the north side close to Eaux Claires.... Northgate
Is it just the sewers being cleaned?
