Question Bulk supplies local delivery?

• Upvotes

This might be a dumb question but I'd like to do a bulk order of supplies for the winter. I'm in a condo and rely on delivery services. Normally I order things like paper towel and toilet paper with groceries. But I thought if I stocked up (not hoard), I could save my future self some money and hassle.

I have limited mobility so picking up in person is not an option. I also worry about using Instacart because shoppers aren't always equipped with wagons or dollies for things like 24's of water and cans.

Other than Costco which I'm not a member - are there any other local options for bulk delivery? It would only be 1x or 2x a year. I do have family (siblings) but I hate relying on their schedules. Ah looks like Costco uses IC shoppers too.

I am checking stores like Home Depot and I have used Walmart.ca but they use a local courier service. I have thought about hiring someone like a handyman or errand person but have not had luck with Task Rabbit. So I thought I'd ask the good people of Reddit. Groceries are covered - it's just bulk supplies I'd like to stock up on.

The other issue is front door drop off doesn't work - I'd need someone to haul stuff to my unit. We do have an elevator.

Thanks.

Commuting/Transit Accidents this morning…everywhere?

• Upvotes

Holy crap, I’ve never seen google maps look so awful.

Henday, Whitemud, Yellowhead, EVERYWHERE looks like there are accidents. A drive that would take me 25 mins tops is over an hour long.

Good luck to all of the commuters out there today.

Question Need spicy seasoning!

I consume a copious amount of instant ramen at site for work. Normally, I add a dash spicy ghost pepper seasoning from Pepper palace but I have since run out. I was dismayed to find that Pepper palace closed their WEM location. Does anyone here know a local store that sells spicy seasoning/hot sauce?

Fluff Post Unpopular opinion: I appreciate the people that start snow blowing super early

Was pretty sure it was going to snow last night, so I swapped the car over to winter tires.

This morning my first alarm was accompanied by the droning hum of all my neighbours leaf blowers.

it served as an extra alarm to confirm, yup it probably snowed. gotta get out of bed on the first alarm to give myself extra time for driving today!

stay safe everyone!

General Lyft has to do better

Post image
0 Upvotes

Lyft has become so expensive, yet they charge us so much and still make us wait longer than expected. When I requested my ride, it said the driver would arrive within 8 minutes, but then I had to wait 12–20 minutes. If we’re paying that much, the service should be better. I really hope Lyft improves its pricing and estimated arrival times because customers deserve better.

General New game to play Edmonton.

Did they run that red, or did they slide through it?

Roads are not great this morning. (South side from Nisku to Edmonton) Take your time and drive safe.

P.s: If you have your hazards on, please stay to the right. Don’t block the lanes because you didn’t put your winter tires on.

P.ps: To the individual with their hazards on while driving like a maniac swerving in and out of traffic on the QE2. Ya that doesn’t make what you were doing any better.

Question Charity for birthday

Hi guys, my birthday is coming up and this year I wanna do something that my family used to do back home. We used to organize food for an orphanage, and I want to do a similar thing this year. How could I do this? What are the logistics here? What I had in mind was distributing food to the homeless, has anyone done that? If someone can help me figure this out, that would be great.

Hello,

My client is new to Edmonton and is a male looking for:

“full body bath and scrub plus oil and massage if possible. In Arabic we called it Ama'Am usually men wash men and women-women wash each others. I don't know if I can get all those packages in one place”?

He is downtown and takes ETS. Any suggestions?
Thank you 🙏

hey; i need opinions on centre high campus. My sister is going there next semester and i wanna know how the teachers and environment is. She’s an introvert and requires accommodation as well. Are students friendly enough? She also has an option to do her courses online with metro continuing education but she chooses to go in person.

Question Trick or treating age

Post image
386 Upvotes

I have a question for the people who give out candy to the trick or treaters.
Why do you turn away tall teenagers? Especially when they dress up in a costume?
So many people don’t give teenagers candy but they’ll give babies that are months old candy, but they literally can’t eat it.
I just wanna know your reason. I’d give candy out to adults that dress up. Older people need to have fun too!

I would assume apartments or something, but there's no signage for a developer or anything and the work seems different than other apartment projects. Does anyone have any insight?

Question Looking for pumpkins...

Please help! I need six pumpkins for a work thing tomorrow and Spruce Grove is apparently out of pumpkins. I tried Superstore, Sobeys, Safeway, and Save-On before I ran out of time and had to get the kid home for bed.

Does anyone know if there's anywhere downtown that might still have non-rotted pumpkins? Safeways were full of ants 😬

General Christmas Volunteer Opportunities

In previous years my team at work volunteered at Santa's Anonymous sorting toys and building packages to be delivered. This year we were a little slow on the sign up and Santa's Anonymous is no longer looking for volunteers (which is awesome they have that many people interested).

With us not being able to volunteer at Santa's Anonymous, does anyone have any suggestions on another spot a group of colleagues could go to volunteer? Ideally looking for something during the week, and ideally during work hours.

Thanks in advance.
