Pregnant after ectopic… nervous

So I had an ectopic December 8th/9th of last year, I went to the hospital on the 8th in severe pain. My HCG was 3512 Found out I was pregnant and told them something wasn’t right. They sent me home next morning went back for ultrasound and found it had ruptured and I was bleeding internally. They did the surgery and removed my right tube. Fast forward to now. Specifically October 21st. Took an at home test I didn’t miss my period just had a feeling positive faint but positive. I go to the ER on the 23rd due to light period like cramps HCG of 165, ultrasound didn’t show anything since it’s to early. They held me overnight given my history, rechecked my HCG 20 hours later (the next morning) it was at 233 so it jumped 41% in 20 hours doc said that’s great! Well the thing is, is now I’m home and my mind is wondering until I have my placement ultrasound. I can’t feel happy all I feel is anxious. I’m crampy like period cramps tired as heck, nauseous and eating like a cow. I have more symptoms this time then I did when I had my ectopic I had none. Did any of you experience different symptoms with your ectopic vs your healthy interutrine pregnancy? I feel like I’m hyper focused on every little ache or pain.

Coping after surgery/returning to work

I had laparoscopic surgery Oct 12 and returned to work this week and it's been HARD. I can't decide if I pushed myself to go back too quickly or if having the distraction/something to keep me busy is a good thing and I need to just take more breaks. I can't really afford to take more time off as I've exhausted most of my PTO and I'm not eligible for my state's paid leave program.

I had one tube removed and was cleared to resume normal activities, but the emotional recovery is seriously difficult. My Dr mentioned a prescription for depression and I declined, however, now I am reconsidering.

How did you cope after the loss of both your pregnancy and tube, in addition to all the anxiety and stress of this experience? Did you take medication to help you cope?

The anxiety is debilitating

Almost a week since I was diagnosed with ectopic and given MTX injection. I already have health anxiety and the waiting game is making me unable to do anything. Every twinge or cramp sends my mind spiraling. 338 day 1. 157 day 4 and just got my day 7 results at 131 and I’m still not at peace that everything is going to be ok. How do I function?

Physical items that can help

Sorry if this is covered somewhere; I'm not tarot sure what to even search, so I'm not finding the answer. I have a friend who just had an ectopic pregnancy. She hasn't spoken yet about her mental or emotional health, but she's been walking hunched over in pain.

What are show items that can help? Anything that can help ease her pain and bring comfort? Any food or drink that should be avoided?

Migrating filshie clip after tubal ligation

Hi! I’m looking for advice or similar experiences. 🙏🏻
I just saw the images from my recent sonohysterogram in my patient portal, but my appointment to discuss the results with my doctor isn’t until November 11.
I had a tubal ligation about 10 years ago, and my fertility clinic’s plan is to do IVF because of it. One of the ultrasound images is labeled “OPEN TUBES,” and now I’m panicking and confused. How could my tubes be open after a tubal ligation?
Has anyone experienced something similar or had an ultrasound image labeled this way? I have the image to share if anyone knows how to read it.
I have the one from the sono and i have one x ray i did like a year ago that i think shows the clips. What do you think?
I know I’ll need to confirm the results with my doctor, but I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences while I wait.
Thank you,❤️

RE said one ectopic means ivf is the only option.

We have been trying for more than a year. I had chemical pregnancy in Jan and an ectopic in right fallopian tube that was treated with mtx in april 2024. So we thought after all this time, let’s atleast go and get educated on what other possibilities are there to conceive.
When we met her, she right off the bat goes like, “you had an ectopic means there’s something majorly wrong”. She wasn’t even interested in knowing that my HSG showed both tubes open after ectopic. She just deemed that the right tube is definitely useless and the left is also to be considered the same. Hence, forget everything and just do ivf because any other pregnancies are also going to result in ectopic according to her. Now she has really tried to scare us. There were other things too that really put us off of her. We aren’t going to her for sure.
But i wanted to ask everyone’s advice if this is true? Like she made me feel like it’s dead end and only option is ivf. Ivf being the option is not the problem, it’s the way she said it that something is wrong and i can never have hope. Like my body is bad.
Idk if this is what all you guys have heard from your RE’s too?

One tube and salpingostomy on the way

I only have one tube from a previous surgery. I just found out I have an ectopic that has to be removed via salpingostomy on my remaining tube. Has anyone ever went through this and conceived a healthy baby? I am so scared this is it for me.

Missed period after ectopic

Treated with one dose MTX in july . HCG zero at end of Aug. 1st period came back 18th September and was completely normal. My cycle is usually 32 days. I'm not on day 40 with no period this month. All pregnancy tests are negative. Did anyone else has similar, I'm worried my periods won't return. I'm so desperate to start trying again. I had a dye stealer OPK 21 days ago. Surly my period should of started by now.

Second Guessing

Hello everyone,

I have a laparoscopy and HSG scheduled for November to check my tubes, look for endometriosis, and potentially remove my left tube. I’ve had 6 losses total: 4 chemicals, a confirmed left-side ectopic in May 2026, and a Pregnancy of Unknown Location (PUL) in August 2026.

My May ectopic was a nightmare. My hCG was nearly 5,000 (nobody told me that almost disqualified me for medical management) and it took two rounds of methotrexate and an awful recovery to clear. Then in August, I had another loss at 6w6d. The doctors labeled it a PUL because they couldn't find a sac, but I had the exact same localized pain as my confirmed ectopic. I’m convinced it was a second ectopic in that same left tube.

During that crisis in August, I was completely adamant and told my OB I wanted that left tube gone. I also pushed for an HSG, an endo check, and got blood work done that led to me starting Metformin and Levothyroxine.

On the bright side, my cycle just shifted to a perfect 28-day cycle for the first time since I was like 18 years old! Lol. I guess the medication is finally doing its job, and I'm really hoping that optimizing my hormones will help fix my struggles with chemical pregnancies.

But now that I’m not in active pain anymore, the urgency has faded and I’m having massive second thoughts. It’s like my brain forgot how bad the physical pain and the fear of a rupture actually were. Because a specialist was too expensive just to talk to, I've decided to stick with my OB. I'm trying to figure all this out on my own and I’m just feeling so overwhelmed.

I’m deep down a research rabbit hole and terrified of a few things:

  1. What if they find out my right tube is blocked, which means I can't afford to lose the left one?
  2. What if they remove the left tube and it turns out it was actually completely fine?

I recently read that some clinics use high-pressure fluid during an HSG, which can force fluid past a partial blockage and give a "false clear" that doesn't reflect how an embryo naturally moves. I plan to ask my OB about their fluid pressure methods at pre-op, but I’m terrified of losing control once I’m asleep. What if I'm super specific about my boundaries, they agree, and then they just do whatever they want in the OR anyway? You can't exactly undo a tube removal.

Has anyone else experienced this exact panic or second-guessed a surgery once the crisis passed? How did you advocate for yourself at your pre-op to make sure your surgical boundaries were actually respected? I hate this so much. Any other important questions you think I should ask at pre-op?

Concerns over misdiagnosis

Has anyone ever here had a confirmed misdiagnosed ectopic? Is that even possible? I’ve had this nagging feeling mine was misdiagnosed for a few reasons. What does this sound like to you? Here’s context:
-2 ectopics, one each tube
- ectopic #1: brown stringy discharge, turned into coffee grounds color . Knew something was wrong. Left sided flank pain - intermittent, pain scale about 6 out of 10. Low hcg and fluctuations. Beta 1: 240, beta 2: 160, beta 3: 275

-ectopic #2 (the one I’m concerned about): started out normal. A couple days very slight spotting (light red/pink). No pain maybe just some pulling feeling in uterus. Then I started getting some right side flank pain but it was also intermittent. Beta 1: 800, beta 2: 1400. Administered MTX day I received beta 2 bc they did a TVU and did not find a gestational sac in uterus. There was some more brown blood on the wand after the ultrasound but it wasn’t reaching my underwear in the days leading up.

I almost wish I didn’t receive MTX and got one more beta before treatment. Things that are making me think it could have been misdignosed: #1 it was so diff than the first time. #2 the time it took to hit hcg 0 was much quicker than the first time around even with higher startin levels. #3 gross but there was a bad odor after MTX and the bleeding started. Made me think miscarriage over reabsorption.

I know there’s nothing I can do at this point but if it could have been misdiagnosed it’s making me reconsider next steps.
