Pregnant after ectopic… nervous

So I had an ectopic December 8th/9th of last year, I went to the hospital on the 8th in severe pain. My HCG was 3512 Found out I was pregnant and told them something wasn’t right. They sent me home next morning went back for ultrasound and found it had ruptured and I was bleeding internally. They did the surgery and removed my right tube. Fast forward to now. Specifically October 21st. Took an at home test I didn’t miss my period just had a feeling positive faint but positive. I go to the ER on the 23rd due to light period like cramps HCG of 165, ultrasound didn’t show anything since it’s to early. They held me overnight given my history, rechecked my HCG 20 hours later (the next morning) it was at 233 so it jumped 41% in 20 hours doc said that’s great! Well the thing is, is now I’m home and my mind is wondering until I have my placement ultrasound. I can’t feel happy all I feel is anxious. I’m crampy like period cramps tired as heck, nauseous and eating like a cow. I have more symptoms this time then I did when I had my ectopic I had none. Did any of you experience different symptoms with your ectopic vs your healthy interutrine pregnancy? I feel like I’m hyper focused on every little ache or pain.

RE said one ectopic means ivf is the only option.

We have been trying for more than a year. I had chemical pregnancy in Jan and an ectopic in right fallopian tube that was treated with mtx in april 2024. So we thought after all this time, let’s atleast go and get educated on what other possibilities are there to conceive.
When we met her, she right off the bat goes like, “you had an ectopic means there’s something majorly wrong”. She wasn’t even interested in knowing that my HSG showed both tubes open after ectopic. She just deemed that the right tube is definitely useless and the left is also to be considered the same. Hence, forget everything and just do ivf because any other pregnancies are also going to result in ectopic according to her. Now she has really tried to scare us. There were other things too that really put us off of her. We aren’t going to her for sure.
But i wanted to ask everyone’s advice if this is true? Like she made me feel like it’s dead end and only option is ivf. Ivf being the option is not the problem, it’s the way she said it that something is wrong and i can never have hope. Like my body is bad.
Idk if this is what all you guys have heard from your RE’s too?

Physical items that can help

Sorry if this is covered somewhere; I'm not tarot sure what to even search, so I'm not finding the answer. I have a friend who just had an ectopic pregnancy. She hasn't spoken yet about her mental or emotional health, but she's been walking hunched over in pain.

What are show items that can help? Anything that can help ease her pain and bring comfort? Any food or drink that should be avoided?

Migrating filshie clip after tubal ligation

Hi! I’m looking for advice or similar experiences. 🙏🏻
I just saw the images from my recent sonohysterogram in my patient portal, but my appointment to discuss the results with my doctor isn’t until November 11.
I had a tubal ligation about 10 years ago, and my fertility clinic’s plan is to do IVF because of it. One of the ultrasound images is labeled “OPEN TUBES,” and now I’m panicking and confused. How could my tubes be open after a tubal ligation?
Has anyone experienced something similar or had an ultrasound image labeled this way? I have the image to share if anyone knows how to read it.
I have the one from the sono and i have one x ray i did like a year ago that i think shows the clips. What do you think?
I know I’ll need to confirm the results with my doctor, but I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences while I wait.
Thank you,❤️

Coping after surgery/returning to work

I had laparoscopic surgery Oct 12 and returned to work this week and it's been HARD. I can't decide if I pushed myself to go back too quickly or if having the distraction/something to keep me busy is a good thing and I need to just take more breaks. I can't really afford to take more time off as I've exhausted most of my PTO and I'm not eligible for my state's paid leave program.

I had one tube removed and was cleared to resume normal activities, but the emotional recovery is seriously difficult. My Dr mentioned a prescription for depression and I declined, however, now I am reconsidering.

How did you cope after the loss of both your pregnancy and tube, in addition to all the anxiety and stress of this experience? Did you take medication to help you cope?

One tube and salpingostomy on the way

I only have one tube from a previous surgery. I just found out I have an ectopic that has to be removed via salpingostomy on my remaining tube. Has anyone ever went through this and conceived a healthy baby? I am so scared this is it for me.

The anxiety is debilitating

Almost a week since I was diagnosed with ectopic and given MTX injection. I already have health anxiety and the waiting game is making me unable to do anything. Every twinge or cramp sends my mind spiraling. 338 day 1. 157 day 4 and just got my day 7 results at 131 and I’m still not at peace that everything is going to be ok. How do I function?

Missed period after ectopic

Treated with one dose MTX in july . HCG zero at end of Aug. 1st period came back 18th September and was completely normal. My cycle is usually 32 days. I'm not on day 40 with no period this month. All pregnancy tests are negative. Did anyone else has similar, I'm worried my periods won't return. I'm so desperate to start trying again. I had a dye stealer OPK 21 days ago. Surly my period should of started by now.

Second Guessing

Hello everyone,

I have a laparoscopy and HSG scheduled for November to check my tubes, look for endometriosis, and potentially remove my left tube. I’ve had 6 losses total: 4 chemicals, a confirmed left-side ectopic in May 2026, and a Pregnancy of Unknown Location (PUL) in August 2026.

My May ectopic was a nightmare. My hCG was nearly 5,000 (nobody told me that almost disqualified me for medical management) and it took two rounds of methotrexate and an awful recovery to clear. Then in August, I had another loss at 6w6d. The doctors labeled it a PUL because they couldn't find a sac, but I had the exact same localized pain as my confirmed ectopic. I’m convinced it was a second ectopic in that same left tube.

During that crisis in August, I was completely adamant and told my OB I wanted that left tube gone. I also pushed for an HSG, an endo check, and got blood work done that led to me starting Metformin and Levothyroxine.

On the bright side, my cycle just shifted to a perfect 28-day cycle for the first time since I was like 18 years old! Lol. I guess the medication is finally doing its job, and I'm really hoping that optimizing my hormones will help fix my struggles with chemical pregnancies.

But now that I’m not in active pain anymore, the urgency has faded and I’m having massive second thoughts. It’s like my brain forgot how bad the physical pain and the fear of a rupture actually were. Because a specialist was too expensive just to talk to, I've decided to stick with my OB. I'm trying to figure all this out on my own and I’m just feeling so overwhelmed.

I’m deep down a research rabbit hole and terrified of a few things:

  1. What if they find out my right tube is blocked, which means I can't afford to lose the left one?
  2. What if they remove the left tube and it turns out it was actually completely fine?

I recently read that some clinics use high-pressure fluid during an HSG, which can force fluid past a partial blockage and give a "false clear" that doesn't reflect how an embryo naturally moves. I plan to ask my OB about their fluid pressure methods at pre-op, but I’m terrified of losing control once I’m asleep. What if I'm super specific about my boundaries, they agree, and then they just do whatever they want in the OR anyway? You can't exactly undo a tube removal.

Has anyone else experienced this exact panic or second-guessed a surgery once the crisis passed? How did you advocate for yourself at your pre-op to make sure your surgical boundaries were actually respected? I hate this so much. Any other important questions you think I should ask at pre-op?

Concerns over misdiagnosis

Has anyone ever here had a confirmed misdiagnosed ectopic? Is that even possible? I’ve had this nagging feeling mine was misdiagnosed for a few reasons. What does this sound like to you? Here’s context:
-2 ectopics, one each tube
- ectopic #1: brown stringy discharge, turned into coffee grounds color . Knew something was wrong. Left sided flank pain - intermittent, pain scale about 6 out of 10. Low hcg and fluctuations. Beta 1: 240, beta 2: 160, beta 3: 275

-ectopic #2 (the one I’m concerned about): started out normal. A couple days very slight spotting (light red/pink). No pain maybe just some pulling feeling in uterus. Then I started getting some right side flank pain but it was also intermittent. Beta 1: 800, beta 2: 1400. Administered MTX day I received beta 2 bc they did a TVU and did not find a gestational sac in uterus. There was some more brown blood on the wand after the ultrasound but it wasn’t reaching my underwear in the days leading up.

I almost wish I didn’t receive MTX and got one more beta before treatment. Things that are making me think it could have been misdignosed: #1 it was so diff than the first time. #2 the time it took to hit hcg 0 was much quicker than the first time around even with higher startin levels. #3 gross but there was a bad odor after MTX and the bleeding started. Made me think miscarriage over reabsorption.

I know there’s nothing I can do at this point but if it could have been misdiagnosed it’s making me reconsider next steps.

Almost died from an ectopic rupture.

I never knew I was pregnant. I was fine shopping with my sister and all of a sudden I got really bad cramps and was nauseous. Something that is in the norm for me with PCOS etc. I went to car to get an emesis bag. I started puking. I really thought a caught a 12/24 hr virus. Began throwing up around 12pm and lasting throughout the night. I was freezing, having trouble breathing and felt so dehydrated I couldn’t drink enough. Finally I asked my bf to help me get to bathroom. As soon as sat up I passed out. When I came to I told them to call an ambulance. From there it was even more insane. My body temp was 93° when I got to hospital. Blood sugar in the high 500s. My blood ph was so acidic. Just Insanity They were warming me with hot water gloves to find veins. Gave me the hot hugger blanket. Finally they were able to take blood samples and put an IV. They gave me 4 pints through a rapid blood infuser. It was traumatic. This is with 15-20 people working all around me. I hear someone say my HCG levels were elevated. I knew what that meant. I said “I’m pregnant?!” Now I’m worried about that. They’re giving me an ultrasound & a few minutes later in my mind..I start feeling better. I asked if they gave me something ;fentanyl. Everything was happening so fast in my head but then they let my bf and my dad in to see me. I whispered in my bf ear I was pregnant and he said he knew and the doctor already told him it wasn’t viable and that’s why I was so sick. (The rupture)
For the surgery they cut out my right tube and removed two liters of blood out of my abdomen. All together through blood loss and surgery I received about gallon or more of blood transfusions. Basically my whole body’s worth of blood. 32 hours later they’re discharging me. I just feel crazy and gaslit. Multiple doctors said I was so close to death and a few more hours of waiting I’d be dead, but 32 hours later I’m walking out of the ICU. I’m having trouble just coming to terms with everything. I just don’t know. It’s like I got fucked with no aftercare. I’m just supposed to navigate this alone? I m so confused, sad, and hurt.

Emotional Recovery - what helped you?

My pregnancy finally resolved last Friday, four weeks after my second dose of methotrexate. Over the course of this past week, I feel like I have become buried under an avalanche of emotions. Mostly anger and sadness.

For those who have been through this and made it to the other side, how did you feel afterwards? How long by before you started to feel stable and okay again? Did you do anything that helped? My therapist is recommending looking for a pregnancy loss support groups, but I’m not sure what to expect from it.

When did you start feeling like yourself again after an ectopic pregnancy?

I’m just over two weeks post-surgery after an ectopic pregnancy, where I had my right fallopian tube removed. This was following IVF, which has made the whole experience even harder emotionally.

Physically, I’m slowly recovering, but mentally I’m really struggling. I feel low, emotional, exhausted and just not like myself anymore. I’m finding it difficult to feel happy or motivated, and even little things seem overwhelming.
I don’t think I realised how much this experience would affect me, and I’m struggling to imagine feeling like my old self again.

For those who have been through an ectopic pregnancy, how long did it take before you started feeling more like yourself emotionally? Did things gradually improve, or did you find it took months?

I’d really appreciate hearing other people’s experiences, especially from anyone who went through this following IVF.

Possible Ectopic

I tested positive on Oct 11, my LMP starting on September 18. On Oct 17, I started heavily bleeding and cramping that had me curled into a ball in severe pain all night to the point of crying (I generally have a high pain tolerance). I assumed it was a chemical and I had gotten my period. The bleeding was constant for about 4-5 days like my regular period, turning more brown towards the end. There was never any clots, just bright red blood until the end. I was fully convinced it was my period.
About a week ago, I took another pregnancy test after getting a weird urge to take one. I was also feeling an odd sense of lightheaded/dizziness that day, but not so bad that I felt faint. It was positive, the line even darker than it had been before.
I went to my doctor today to ask about a possible ectopic. I also should add here that I have a heart shaped uterus, if that matters in this case. Anyway, my doctor said the pain is most likely from a corpus luteum cyst, and sent me for hcg blood work and repeat in 48 hours. He pushed down on my abdomen which hurt quite a bit.
I went for the labs, and when I got home, started bleeding again. My results came back and my hcg was 762 - I'm 5 weeks 4 days today according to my LMP.
I'm now feeling super crampy, hot and cold at the same time, and still bleeding since this afternoon. I feel sluggish and generally unwell. The bleeding is not as heavy as the time before, but enough to be wearing a pad.
I'm not sure what to do. I'm debating taking myself to an emergency room to get checked out, just to be safe, but at the same time I don't want to overreact. If anyone has advice or a similar experience, please share! TIA

Editing to add: I also should mention that the pain is extremely focused on my right side and right side only. It feels like a very sharp cramp in my lower right abdomen, especially that first night when the bleeding started.
A few more of my symptoms include bloating, weird bowel movements (sometimes diarrhea, sometimes constipated.) I've been super nauseous especially when the cramps hit.
I also don't know if I'm too in my head about this, but I have right shoulder pain that I've been blaming on muscle aches from work. It feels like a cramp throughout the right side of my neck/shoulder/upper back.

Trying not to lose hope

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

Idk where else to post this and I hope it’s ok to post here. I’m at such a loss right now, feeling so hopeless. In the last year and a half I’ve had 2 ectopic pregnancies (last one ending in left tube removal), a miscarriage and a chemical pregnancy.
This month, I just had a feeling that I’ve conceived. I don’t track ovulation, but I do use a period tracker so I do the deed in my predicted fertile window. I haven’t missed my period yet but something just told me to test. 10-24 I take a clear blue test with pink dye and I swear I see something super super faint. Test again the 25th and same thing. Follow up with a digital (knowing it’s so early and my period is still about 6 days away) not really expecting a positive result but the result said “pregnant”. Me and my man were over the moon! I message my OB and she has me to beta testing today. My hcg is only 4. My heart dropped when I seen that because how could a digital pick up such a low hcg?! My hcg must have dropped right? I’m supposed to go back Wednesday for another blood draw. My OB sent me a message saying “your pregnancy hormone is very low, likely because you are so early. let’s stick with the plan to repeat in 48 hours”. I took my last digital just out of curiosity and it does say “not pregnant” now.
I’m concerned I could be having another ectopic in my right tube this time or it’s a chemical. Is it worth it to try to hold on to any hope at all? Has anyone experienced anything similar? My mind is going crazy and the waiting game is torture.

Possible ectopic

Sooo has anyone dealt with a weird rising of hcg numbers following a double embryo transfer?

Beta 1 -143.3
Beta 2 -174.2
Beta 3- 125
Beta 4 178
Beta 5 496

My obgyn is convinced it’s like vanishing twin and my REI is convinced it may be ectopic. I’m freaking out because I want this to be viable. But this is also the craziest thing I’ve ever encountered. Has anyone deal with this?

Hydrosalpinx after ectopic pregnancy treated with methotrexate. Has anyone experienced this?

I had an ectopic pregnancy in July 2026 and was treated with methotrexate. My hCG levels eventually dropped to 3, so I was told the pregnancy had resolved.

I already had a mass in the area where the ectopic pregnancy was located, and I recently had another follow up ultrasound. My doctor told me I have a left hydrosalpinx, which means fluid has accumulated inside my left fallopian tube.

The ultrasound report also mentions a 6.7 cm tubo ovarian complex and an elongated fluid filled area. My doctor was concerned and referred me to the emergency department for further assessment.

I’m not experiencing any pain right now I haven’t for 3 months since August. so I’m confused about how serious this could be. Could the hydrosalpinx be related to my previous ectopic pregnancy? Could the fluid be associated with the mass that was already there?

I am planning to do IVF because I don’t want to risk another ectopic.

Has anyone developed a hydrosalpinx after an ectopic pregnancy treated with methotrexate?

Did the hydrosalpinx eventually resolve on its own?

Metho vs Surgery - 3 days post op

Hi everyone 🤍

I’m currently 3 days post-op after having my left fallopian tube removed due to an ectopic pregnancy.
Making the decision between methotrexate and surgery was incredibly difficult. After weighing up both options, I ultimately decided to go ahead with surgery.

I’m still processing everything, both physically and emotionally and I’d really love to hear from others who have been through something similar.

For those who chose methotrexate, how was your experience? How long did your recovery take and do you feel it was the right decision for you?

And for those who opted for surgery and had a tube removed, how was your recovery? How did you feel about your decision afterwards?

I’d also love to hear from anyone who has gone on to have a successful pregnancy after either treatment.

I know everyone’s circumstances are different but hearing other people’s experiences would really help me as I navigate this.

Sending love to everyone who has been through this 🤍

Anticipating surgery this week. Nervous!!!

My doctor said if there’s still no pregnancy seen on ultrasound by 2000 hcg (anticipating this tomorrow) we’ll proceed with surgery this week. I can’t do the shot, I won’t risk it failing and rupturing anyways, and I can’t stop breastfeeding my infant for 7 days.

My nerves are all over the place but tonight it’s about the lack of dignity. Knowing there’s going to be that many people seeing me nude, worried about whether I’ll be sufficiently covered before anyone sees me post op, afraid I won’t wake up from anesthesia at all, afraid my husband will think I’m disgusting especially with the gas buildup, worried about them putting a pad on me because that’s just weird, worried about letdown setting off in the operating room since I can’t wear a bra/nursing pads, afraid I’m going to look fat, etc etc.

Yall please help me feel better!!!

Praising Jesus. I have a positive test at 10dpo! First pregnancy post ectopic. Can anyone tell me why all my other tests look more positive than the FRER? I thought FRER is supposed to be the most sensitive? *turn your brightness up* it’s a vvvfl. Also when do I call my doctor because this is VERY early to get a positive test.

Current pain in pregnancy near similar to ectopic

Did anyone have ectopic-like-pain awaiting your placement scan and have it end up being in your uterus? Not sure if I’m being hyper-aware or not.
