On my recent travels I passed through Blackwater in Surrey where there are two shops and a van all nearby. I'd already bought this one when I spotted the van that I previously posted. I'll be sampling the other shop in a few months time when I'm gigging round that way again.
I popped into the interestingly named Grandma Buggins to sample their wares, as recommended by one of the crowd at the venue.
Here we have my usual; lamb doner wrap, chili sauce and no salad. I'm noticing that more and more people are getting upset at the lack of salad. It's reminding me of the brain slugs in Futurama. Once again, I digress...
This wrap was prepared with ninja-like stealth. I saw Bossman and his team of underbosses all very busy then one appeared with my wrap. Nobody approached the spit or the Bain marie beside it. There must be another Bain marie to the side. I didn't see the application of the sauce either.
Well, after feeling this to be a little on the light side, that's why I decided to eat the other and save this one. This was reheated in the morning at 180° for 25 minutes. Served up when it measured 75° in the middle.
The verdict... the chili sauce was bottled. I could taste that it was a standard, bottled synthetic kinda thing. It wasn't one of those oversweet jobs though. Meat was standard, not too greasy. You can see that it was little, shredded slices. Overall this gets a B grade. It wasn't bad but nothing special. Dönerdog liked it.
Weighing in under average at 430g and priced ever so slightly above average at £8.25, this has landed on the spreadsheet at 63/95. Not great. I probably won't go back with the Ozzy van nearby.
