My TRX was taken in broad daylight in a crowded Costco parking lot on a Sunday. They were clearly professionals, they swapped the license plate and everything. Using the GPS tracker I had on the vehicle, I was able to locate it and recover the vehicle within 12 hours of the theft, which from what everyone (police, detectives, insurance) told me, is EXTREMELY lucky. The scoundrels did thousands of dollars worth of damage to the interior trying to locate the tracker, and I am not leaving it to chance that it doesn't happen again.
I'm looking to add real anti-theft to my TRX and I’m stuck between IGLA and Ravelco. I’ve seen a lot of TRX thefts lately and want something that actually stops a drive-away and cannot be hacked or undone. Since both systems are structurally different and seems like both have their own pros and cons, for those who’ve run either (or both):
- How’s day-to-day use? Does the PIN/fob or the plug get annoying? *I know inconvenience is better than headache of having it stolen, but I am trying to compare the practicality of both systems*
- Any electrical issues, error codes, or dealer service headaches?
- Has either one actually stopped a theft attempt for you?
- I’ve seen videos claiming Ravelco can be bypassed. Is that overblown?
- Did you layer an alarm like Compustar on top?
- Did either of these give you any issues with your vehicle warranties?
Any advice helps. Appreciate any real-world experience!
