A rainy visit to a friend’s place near Chicago

It was pouring outside, but this room felt so cozy with all the lamps on. The tall windows and that huge tapestry were my favorite parts.

My friend mentioned they installed a backup generator about three years ago, partly to keep the sump pumps running if the power goes out. With a finished basement downstairs, I can see why that was high on their list.

I came over admiring the living room and ended up learning about sump pumps.

Pretty much what it sounds like, I’ve been buying 1-2 $10 bird houses a day and painting them. I’m an amateur painter and have no idea where I got this idea from, feel free to steal it and make yours look better lol

Please help me to decide on the artwork for my condo.

These photos are from when I first moved into my condo. I planned shelving and 3 large pieces of framed artwork. I got the shelves in (decided not to do the long one above the artwork).

I’ve been in my place for a year now and my wall still has the outline tape on it. I keep thinking that artwork will just fall into my lap and it hasn’t. I originally wanted 3 separate pieces that flowed together (same style or similar colors etc) but now I’ve accepted defeat.

- I’d like something moody, deep blues and greens. I don’t like the TJ Maxx-isk artwork that’s texture swirls with gold flakes.

Anyone have suggestions??

My mom decorated the space under our stairs a few years ago, but honestly, I’ve never really liked how it turned out 😭(I hate it). We’ve finally decided to completely redo the space and change the decor.
Any suggestions?

Redoing my whole bedroom

I need help. I’ve never done this. Baby is coming and I would like to decorate my bedroom and I have a few places I can start but my main hang-up is the wood tones. I was told I shouldn’t have all my furniture the same wood tone. The 60/40 rule is what I’m going for. This is the bed I’m going to get, now I need a sideboard for under the tv and two night stands. The bedding will be a dark or light green. My main issue is the wood tones. My bed is light so I’m thinking a more oak color for the sideboard and nightstands? Or should I go darker? I’m thinking the crib will be the color of my bed as well, so 60% oak and 40% this light birch color like my bed. I’m stressing about the wood lol.

Avoid Coleman Furniture

⭐☆☆☆☆ Disappointing Product and Customer Service

I ordered the Deryn Park Cherry King Poster Bed from Coleman Furniture on September 9th and received it on October 16th. This is the most expensive bed I have ever purchased, so I was excited to receive it after such a long wait.

The online description stated that the bed featured gold tipping, and the photos showed very subtle gold accents that complemented the cherry wood beautifully. However, the bed I received has A LOT of gold, far more than the online photos suggest. Rather than delicate gold tipping, it looks heavily painted on, almost like an emblem. The headboard is particularly bad, with noticeably more gold than even the footboard. As shown in my photos, the excessive gold completely changes the overall appearance of the bed.

I contacted customer service and provided photos comparing my bed to their online pictures. Their response was simply that the description was correct and that variations may occur due to screen resolution. I found this dismissive and disappointing. There is a difference between minor color variations and a decorative finish that looks substantially different from what is advertised.

In summary, I am disappointed in both the product representation and the customer service. For such an expensive purchase, I expected accurate photos and a company willing to address legitimate concerns rather than dismiss them with a generic response. I strongly encourage anyone considering this bed to request actual photos of the gold detailing, especially the headboard, before purchasing.

I was thinking either coraline’s tunnel, a “request board” like a calander planner but sounds more fun, having a skeleton of an animal on it. I want something fantasy, gothic and little creepy themed.

How and where to use silver

A large silver tray has been in my husband’s family for generations and was lovingly given to my husband and I as a wedding present. Historically, it has sat in its blue tarnish proof casing, but I’m wondering if it’s safe to display it or is it likely to get ruined if I put it out? Any ideas for where to place it and when/in what contexts is ‘safe’ to use it or display it?

New to silver.

Thanks
