Discussion / Conversation 2027 Bilt Program Updates (Bilt Cash, hotel credits)

https://newsroom.biltrewards.com/2027-bilt-program-updates

From https://www.nerdwallet.com/travel/news/bilt-improves-bilt-cash:

  • 4% Bilt Cash on card spend is going away unless you opt-out to the change by your cardholder anniversary, leaving only the "up to 1.25x" option. (Bilt Cash as a whole is not going away)
  • Bilt Cash will last longer. Moving to 12-month expiry, replacing Dec. 31 expiration with $100 rollover. You'll find your Bilt Cash expiration date in the app.
  • Hotel credits issued as Bilt Cash. In 2027, hotel credits will be issued as Bilt Cash on your cardholder anniversary (replacing Jan 1).
  • Product changes are finally available, both card upgrades and downgrades. Upgrade in the Bilt app or downgrade by calling customer service.
  • Points redemptions on Home Away from Home, along with FHR-like benefits on 2-night stays, are coming for Bilt Gold and Platinum members. Could be a solid deal @ 1.25 cpp through the portal.
  • Elite members get new perks. New status match for Hertz and Sixt.
  • Daily Rewards is launching. Each qualifying housing payment and neighborhood activities will unlock rewards and chances to win larger prizes.

Data Point Wells Fargo Autograph Journey Approval

• Upvotes

Wanted to share my data point as reading others helped me.

I applied at 0/6 0/12 4/24. Wanted to wait until I was 3/24, but alas. Was not pre-qualified but I went ahead and applied. Received "need more time" response.

They pulled Experian only.

About 4 business days later I received a letter asking for income verification through paystubs. I sent those in and 2 business days letter received an email approving me..

I had no previous relationship, but strong credit scores and decent income. I was worried about the 4/24 as I was denied back in July by Amex for too many revolving accounts in the past 24 months and I know Wells Fargo can be strict. So glad to get this card!

Help Needed / Question Credit Card advice - add a Quicksilver?

I am building credit after hard times (615 fico) and now do well making about 500K a year. CapOne gave me a Venture and extended my credit limit to 7K.
Now they are offering me the Quicksilver. I don’t know how much credit they would extend me, but my bigger question is:
If I open an additional card, will it hurt or help my credit score? Any thoughts?

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Chase Freedom unlimited or Wells Fargo active cash?

Hello! I was looking to get a 2% cash back card and saw that Wells Fargo active cash was seemingly the most popular one due to its 200 dollar SUB. Unfortunately I think it got lowered to 100 recently which I didn’t realize. I need a catch all card and saw that Chase freedom unlimited is a 1.5% credit card that provides the same 200 dollar bonus active cash used to. I currently only have 1% standard cash back cards so it would be an improvement. Which card do you think makes more sense in the long run for a recent graduate?

Discussion / Conversation Am I eligible for a Chase Sapphire Reserve Welcome Bonus?

I have the Chase Sapphire Preferred and received the welcome bonus for it about 3 years ago, I am now interested in the Chase Saphhire Reserve and I want to make sure I am eligible for the welcome bonus.

I went to a Chase branch and was told that I wouldn't be eligible for the CSR welcome bonus because I had a CSP welcome bonus but I am reading different posts online that seems to be incorrect.

I called Chase and they told me to download my CSP then apply for the CSR, I am just looking for different data points of people with CSP and was able to get the CSR and its welcome bonus.

Help Needed / Question Switching to citi / steps suggested?

Hey everyone! Posted here a few times.

My current goal is to switch from my quicksilver and savor cards to the double cash and strata premier. i primarily fly american which is the reason for the switch.

double cash bc more points than quick silver and strata to replace the savor (seems better overall)

the last card i got was in january this year, the aadvantage platinum card for the 80k sign up bonus.

should / can i apply to get both the double cash and strata at the same time (back to back) or should i space it out (a few months)

I don't have plans to take any loans out anytime soon so credit score is fine to take a hit for the applications. I'm sure it'll bounce back semi quickly once the aadvantage hits 1 year and also if i get 2 cards, all that extra credit limit is going to keep my usage way low.

thoughts?

EDIT: Suggestions on what to do with the cards i'll no longer use as much if at all? Thanks!

Help Needed / Question Barclays to Citi AA transition: 48-month SUB rule reset?

Apologies in advance if this has been asked before. My Barclays Aviator Red was automatically converted to a Citi AA Platinum Select. I'm looking to apply for a new Citi AA card for the sign-up bonus. Does this forced conversion lock me out of the Platinum Select SUB for the next 48 months?

If I canceled or downgraded my existing Citi AA card, would that have changed anything?

Thanks!

Data Point US Bank no longer using TU Rapid Default Model for CLI?

• Upvotes

I recently applied for a CLI on my Smartly V1. Was denied, however the letter used a TransUnion FICO Score 10 - which was much higher than my TURD score. The only stated reason for the decision was "Account is currently past due". While this raises another issue - past due is factually incorrect - it's nevertheless notable that they use a new scoring method.

Discussion / Conversation Second BOA Alaska Summit Card Application Rejected

I see posts that people are able to get their second summit card approved with SUB so was trying to apply for a second Summit Card but get denied.

Some background info: I opened the Ascent card 3 years ago before they change the name of the card. Reapplied and got the second Ascent card thru web earlier this year, approval immediately, and got the second SUB. Downgraded the first Ascend to cash award.

I opened the Summit card and BOA checking account last Sept and have got the 100k companion award. Applied on Oct 25 for the second Summit thru web and got rejected right away. Tried to apply again thru phone and got rejected again. No clear reason was provided.

Credit score 750.

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Fidelity Visa signature card

I’m looking to update as I have had my Discover card for about 12 years out of college and I’ve had my Chase unlimited freedom card for about five years but I feel like I’m severely lacking in opportunities for what I’m already spending.

Looking for a zero dollar annual fee card that gives good rewards for other things that are important in life or just covers everything altogether so that I feel like I’m getting the bang for my buck. No foreign transaction fee would be a nice plus but it’s not gonna be a complete dealbreaker.

I was looking into the Fidelity 2% card because I figured that would be a great way to get 2% on everything without even having to think about it and it can go towards building in my Fidelity brokerage accounts as I’m getting better with investing. What are the thoughts about this compared to something like the Wells Fargo 2% card or Citi 2% card?
Make about $112k, 820 credit score, no high interest, debt, own my home. So I figured I should be pretty well qualified to make sure I don’t get stuck with a low limit or anything.

Anyone else having issues getting the Paypal debit card 5% grocery rewards with Walmart purchases ? I only started having issues a couple of weeks ago. Had been receiving the rewards fine before that. Some of the purchases get it---but others don't. I've had to call Paypal a couple of times to have them add them (pain in the butt)

Help Needed / Question Denied for student discover card.

Hey everyone, I’m new to quite literally almost everything but I’m passionate about finance. All that to say I just got my ssn maybe 3-4 days ago. I applied for a discover student card because I’m a student, I’m in my junior year, I put 45k in the “how much I make a year part”… if that makes a difference. In my denial letter I was told “Serious delinquency, Proportion of balances to credit limits is too high on bank revolving or other revolving accounts, Number of accounts with delinquency, Length of time revolving accounts have been established.” My credit score was 465…I thought I was supposed to start at 0 so I’m confused, also in the letter it was said that the source was equifax but when I called they said they had nothing in their database about me. As for trans union and experian; I looked up my information on both their websites and found nothing, any advice ? Help please 🫩

Help Needed / Question How the hell do I use this MasterCard E-Gift Card?

I just got gifted a $100 MasterCard "E-Gift Card" through Amazon and have no idea how to use it. After adding it to my Google Wallet, it just shows up with a barcode/number (same length as normal cards) and PIN. The issue is that there's no expiration date, so I can't enter it into 99% of online sites, and it doesn't show up in my list of cards for things that accept GPay.

Is there any way I can use this to get an actual physical card, or transfer it to my bank in any way? Or at least use it??

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) 100k Chase Sapphire Preferred

Hello,

Recently received offer for chase sapphire preferred 100k SUB. Never had a chase card, wondering if ithe points are worth it, with no experience in their ecosystem.

Currently have
- AMEX Gold (standard card)
-AMEX Plat (Got just for SUB, will close in 6 months)
-cash back card that has my longest credit history

Also just curious if it’s worth it to sign up with the hard credit inquiry, then close the card etc. don’t want to be mindlessly points chasing. I’m also aware of the AF, and it’s not a concern

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Amex Blue Cash Rewards Card 6%

AmEX Blue Cash Rewards Card application process was complete. They requested information from the bank. We supplied it, however, they said the Bank Officer job title was not printed on the letter, it was only hand written. I thought that was insane. After providing other forms of information, such as the colors of our previous cars, and a selfie, they finally said ok. It was exhausting for my age. In addition, we never spoke to an American on the phone and we had numerouse prompt phone calls to address any request they had. I sure hope the 6% is worth it. I once had a Platinum card when I traveled alot and used the points and customer serivce alot. They were always responsive and exceptional. Do you Gentlemen have a similar experience with the Amex Blue Cash and have you enjoyed the card?

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Travel Credit Card Recommendations

Hello! I am looking to get another credit card (the only one I have is the Discover Revolving 5% cashback card), and I want to use it for travel. I am currently 22 and want to explore other options for a credit card. I looked into the Chase Sapphire because I've heard it's one of the best, but I can't spend 5k in 3 months to get the welcome bonus and don't feel it is a great card for me at this time.

Does anyone know of any cards that provide travel benefits like flight miles or even hotels? I don't mind an annual fee as long as I can justify it by bonuses, benefits, etc.

Thank you!

Cynthia, starting January 18, 2027, you'll use the Capital One website and app to manage your Discover it Miles account ending in XXX
Here's what you can count on staying the same for your Discover card with Capital One.
The Discover brand isn't going away, and your card will stay on the Discover Network. Your card, card number and APRs remain the same, with no annual fee. You’ll continue earning the same 1.5x miles on every purchase—and keep your rewards balance.

Help Needed / Question Beginners Recommendations to Increase Credit Score

I recently got my first credit card and would appreciate any tips for achieving a high credit score; essentially, I need guidance on how to manage my credit limit of $300. I have plenty of money in checking and savings, and I make a decent amount, so getting caught up in debt isn't a concern. My APR is roughly 29%, and I am honestly just looking to see how I should differentiate when I should put something on my credit vs. debit card. For instance, it's a cash back, and if I'm able to get a 5% back on said purchase, I'll obviously put it on there, but when should I pay my credit card right after I use it or when any starter is appreciated? When should i get a second card? when will my CLI I read about 6 months on another post is that true?
