This is a throwaway account - I’m a planner and recently wrapped up an event where I had incredible chemistry with one of our AV vendors. We were very openly flirty throughout the setup and event days, and the vibe between us was definitely mutual and hard to ignore.

The issue is that because of how our event calendar works, I won’t physically see or work with him again until next year, assuming we both work on this event again.

I’ve been thinking about it ever since, but I’m hesitant to reach out directly through professional channels (like work email or LinkedIn) and make things awkward for future events.

Has anyone ever encountered a situation like this? How did you handle it? Did you wait until the next event to see if the spark was still there, or find a subtle, professional way to reach out in the meantime? Would love to hear how others in the industry have navigated professional boundaries vs. genuine connection!

We have training room with 3 TVs (tv left, right, confi_monitor) - all functions are working to all three TVS LIKE i can route AirMedia, local inroom Pc and hdmi wall plate.

Issue is when I press power button from touch panel, only two TVs respond and screens goes blank but one of tv (tv_left) is not picking up this power command and stays powered ON

ALL 3 TVs are using LAN connection and no rs232 and I can see all IPS and I can ping from laptop and text console success

I did find when I run Netstat -a from console, the tv not powering off, the IP is not listed.

I already rebooted all devices and made no difference.

It was working all last month and issue started yesterday.

Any what maybe the fix or where to look for??

NEC TVs connected using LAN, crestron room controller behind each tv, dmps processor, amp, Shurep300, etc…

I ran simpl debugger too but it seems to respond showing display_left 0-1 or it says command sent,

Not sure if need to completely unplug power cable from tv and wait 10 minutes??

I do compare all settings as well and it looks same on all 3 TVs and cec are off.

I'm commissioning an AV system in an open office/all-hands meeting space and running into issues with automatic camera tracking when presenters use wireless handheld microphones for voice reinforcement.

Equipment:

• Q-SYS Core 8 Flex
• 3 Q-SYS PTZ cameras
• 3 Shure MXA925 ceiling array microphones
• 4 Shure wireless handheld microphones
• Pendant speakers distributed throughout the space for local reinforcement
• Q-SYS Automatic Camera Preset Recall (ACPR) plugin

Room setup:

There's a relatively small stage with two large displays. Presenters typically walk around the stage while speaking into wireless handheld microphones. The MXA925s are positioned to cover the stage and audience, providing microphone pickup for conferencing as well as positional data for ACPR. There are pendant speakers throughout the stage area (its not that large)

The problem:

When someone speaks naturally without voice reinforcement, the system works pretty well. The MXA925s report the correct speaker position, and ACPR triggers the appropriate camera presets.

However, when someone uses a handheld microphone and their voice is reinforced through the pendant speakers, the MXA925s start reporting incorrect positional data.

My suspicion is that the ceiling arrays are picking up the amplified voice from the pendant speakers and having trouble distinguishing it from the presenter's actual location.

Since ACPR relies on the positional data from the MXA925s, the cameras end up switching to incorrect presets or not triggering at all

Has anyone successfully implemented MXA925-based camera tracking in a space with significant voice reinforcement? Are there any recommended settings or acoustic considerations that helped? I'm trying to figure out if this is an acoustic / design problem or if I haven't configured something correctly in Q-Sys or Shure Designer.

Would appreciate any suggestions or experiences from anyone who's dealt with a similar setup.

I've only ever known the industry in places like CA and AZ, curious what its like in PA, NY, NJ?

For example, I drive to all my projects and keep gear in my personal car. As a commissioning specialist its mostly my laptop, interconnects, and basic tools. The installation techs have company vans but traveling and parking usually isn't a major problem.

But how do you all do it in a place like NYC? Considering relocating to the east coast. I get the sense the work culture might be more intslense and that's sort of what im looking for.

Also most of the opening I see on the boards don't show compensation which I'm not used to but maybe I'm looking in the wrong places

I’m installing touch panel automation for a city council chambers. They requested audio recording (I assume that they want to start and stop recording via the touch panel), with the option of recording video in the future. In a search on this sub I see a lot of Pearl devices being recommended. Is that the way to go, or are there different/better alternatives?

What’s it like working as an Account Manager at AVI-SPL in a country where the company doesn’t have a local office? Has anyone here been in that situation? I’d love to hear about your experience.

So, we have a resturant client (yea, I know) that had another company do their audio install and now they've had us come in to actually get it working. I was able to get them running in a limited capacity after a 1-day service call and now we're quoting them additional equipment and programming to get them the functionality they want.

As part of our upgrade work I would like to clean up how the speaker cables are connected to the amp, and I'm not sure of my options for equipment to do so. Currently there are 9 speaker zones which have home runs back to the rack. Those 9 home run cables are being combined in parallel (in various quantities) by wire nuts, then pig-tailed to the 4 amp channels. The extra wire slack and wirenuts are just loosely laying in the bottom of the rack.

I don't need assistance with math and design of connecting the 70V and 16ohm speakers - I have that under control. I'd like a better and cleaner physical connection than wire nuts, but I don't know what options are on out there. Basic terminal blocks seem more labor intensive than I feel it needs to be. Some sort of spring/screw capture strips where the terminals are already connected and I don't need to add jumpers?

I feel a simple, clean, inexpesive solution has to be very common, I just don't know what it is.

I'm doing some pro-bono work for a community theater, and I'm looking for a cheaper alternative to the RDL D-D2. Anyone have an alternative vendor? I'm looking to buy 18 of them, so a few dollars per device does make a bit of a difference.

Same volunteer AV team as the fellowship hall. We have a 65 inch Samsung commercial display in the lobby and I made a 90 second welcome and announcements loop in vidione, exported as 1080p MP4. Played from a USB stick through the display's media player, it freezes for about two seconds at the end of each loop and sometimes shows the file name. Is it worth getting a small media player like a BrightSign, or is there a setting or export format that fixes the gap? Budget is small, around $300.

I volunteer on the AV team at our church. The fellowship hall has two Shure BLX handheld mics and one lavalier going into a Yamaha MG12 mixer. When the speaker walks toward the back wall, near the kitchen pass through, the audio cuts out for a second or two. The receivers sit in a closet at the front of the room behind a closed wooden door. We already changed batteries and scanned for open frequencies. Would moving the receivers or adding remote antennas fix this, or should we look at interference from the kitchen first?

Has anyone experience with Stuff like the "Wishcolor Super Cuelight" clones of the Perfect Cue? Currently researching with what to upgrade from using Logitech Clickers coming from small Shows to medium sized Venues.
Legal usability is another big Factor (posting from Germany), can't find anything on how precise you can dial in the RF Frequency. The DSAN is fixed on a Frequency that's most probably legal to use for us.

We know that saving some Money this way can cost a lot more if something fails in the long run; I'm just curious about the Quality of these Units.

Programmer here. I’ve been working AI into my daily workflow this past year, and it’s crazy good at nearly everything I throw at it. It’s saving so much time, turning what used to be days of work into mere minutes.

I know of some customers that are ‘vibe coding’ their own codebase as well, and just having an integrator commission it.

What’s everyone’s take on AI and AV programming? Are we cooked, or does our workflow just pivot towards becoming ‘AI managers’?

Edit to say that I get we’re all using it in various ways and that the results are generally good…I’m mainly polling opinions on the future of our careers.

graduated from college with communications in media degree and am trying to break into full-time commercial AV.

Experience includes: university AV support (as a student, part-time job), setting up and operating equipment for events, troubleshooting issues, and working with Crestron systems, displays, projectors, switchers, microphones, and Yamaha mixers.

I also do freelance AV work, but the hours can be inconsistent. Ideally, I'd like to get into an on-site AV technician role at a corporate office or campus, focusing on conference room systems, troubleshooting, and keeping things running smoothly.

My main question is: With the experience I already have, what's the best way to get my foot in the door? I feel like I’m running out of options because I’m not getting past first round interviews and idk where else to go. I feel like I’ve applied to almost every av position I could

Hi there, I have a NV-21-HU device that's connected to a EPSON projector that shows this blue screen that says "no signal detected" after the MTR PC goes to to sleep for a long time. What I would normally do to wake the MTR PC up, is by going to the touch panel refresh it. But it seems to not work after it goes to sleep for a long time. Any chance I need to check the NV-21-HU device in Designer or add an EDID HDMI emulator at the projector?

I am never ordering muxlab devices again as last year and yesterday there is now php vulnrability issue and muxlab still has not provided any update or even emergency patch to help users.

i sent an email last year and no reponse and now there is anothe php isuse and muxlab still hasnt provided any update.

i am going to through these in trash.. now security team put these devices on quarentine...

i asked them for an update and its now been 24 hours and still no response from them.

We rejoiced initially when we discovered we can add a ONVIF-conformant network/IP camera to Windows 11: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-hardware/drivers/stream/network-cameras

We now could now add an axis camera we had in the room to the Teams Room device and use it in a multi-cam setup. Except. It's flakey. In our experience the network camera drops out after about 10 minutes and mutes the local camera as well when it does. Sometimes it comes back, sometimes not so much so. We've tested this in other configurations and it seems it might just be that Windows 11 doesn't handle this type of camera well. What are other people's experiences?

During a move, I managed to snap off the EPO “fuse” from the back of a Wattbox UPS model WB-OVRC-OLUPS-1500-1, which completely bricks the unit. I should have waited for a second pair of hands when removing it from the rack, but mistakes do happen, and I figured it wasn’t a big deal since it‘s an easily replaceable part. Boy was I wrong. Not only does Wattbox not maintain skus for replacement parts, requiring me to go through their rma process rather than place a quick order, they had no estimate at all of the timeline and I have now been out of service for over two weeks.

First, this is the worst customer support I have experienced from any manufacturer in this industry, where uptime is obviously valuable. Second, the fact that they don’t have a bucket full of these <$1 parts on hand indicates that they are probably another bogus drop-shipper dressed in a manufacturer trench coat. Because the only explanation I can imagine for their level of uncertainty is that they are waiting for their overseas partner to supply the part. Even worse, it points towards them having very little access to the real manufacturer, who should be able to ship me a fuse from anywhere in the world within two weeks. Third, which engineer had the bright idea to have a fragile part that cripples the device poke out of the back of a 50lbs UPS? It’s an extremely poor design that I have not seen from any other manufacturer.

Posting this here because they have zero online presence and no suppliers that host reviews. I wonder why…

I feel like every variant of wireless streaming device with a proprietary driver suite mostly over promises and under delivers, but I'm curious if anyone has experience with Biamp Modena in an install working well? These were specified by a consultant on a job we installed and it has been about a year with nothing but issues.

Random reboots, where we come in and simply find the devices are off and we have to unplug and reconnect power to get them to turn on, dropping USB audio and camera accessories at random, frequently the Modena device will say everything is fine but then trying to use the camera in a Teams call with the Modena driver fails, Teams will randomly drop the Modena accessories mid call, it has been a constant struggle.

I don't think there is a setting we haven't tried to change, I've tried automatic updates, I've tried no updates, I've tried automatic reboots overnight, no automatic reboots... it has just been an absolute nightmare of a customer service situation for this end user and I'm hating the lack of reliability in what ought to be the simplest rooms in their system.

Is there anything I am missing? Does anyone actually like this hardware? Outside of this product line I've never had a complaint about anything Biamp sells, but this has been a mess.

Has anyone run into USB recording issues on an Allen & Heath dLive C1500? I’ve bought five different USB drives without luck, while my older 8 GB drive works fine in the same port.

With the newer drives, the console gets stuck on “Building record folder,” “Formatting,” or “Arming.” Sometimes switching back to the working drive also hangs until I reboot the surface.

The system is a C1500 with a DM0, both running firmware V2.03. I’ve tried FAT32 with 32 KB allocation units and an MBR partition table, formatting through the console, and manually creating the recording folders.

Allen & Heath support said I’ve already tried everything they would suggest and recommended trying other drives. They’re also raising it with their software team.

Has anyone found a fix for this? What specific USB flash drive models larger than 8 GB have you used reliably for recording on a dLive? Exact model numbers and capacities would help before I buy a sixth one.
