What would you say, if someone resented you for something you cannot fix?
At some point in your life, likely when you were a kid in school, you dealt with someone blaming you and shaming you for something going wrong in your life. They say that it is to help you, but you know that is a lie for three reasons.
- They phrase it in the form of an accusation and dedicate significantly more effort to the name calling than they do to critiquing the behavior.
- They never offer up any solutions.
- Many if not most if the things they bemoan are out of the control of anyone, including you.
I have drafted a plan to deal with that scenario, tell me if you think it is a good one. The plan is;
Sarcastically request for their help in a solution that is actually unrealistic.
Imagine a 9 year old boy goes to school wearing his sister’s hand-me-down clothes, because he is poor and they cannot afford new clothes. The bullies pick on him for it. If this sounds bizarrely specific, it is because it is a reference to the live action 2007 film Bridge to Terabithia.
The boy who gets picked on should sarcastically ask the bullies if they can give him the money to pay for manlier clothes.
There is my strategy. Do you think it is smart? If not, do you have a better idea? Let me know.
