Bought a 2022 with 46k miles
$12k, had the battery replaced with just a few thousand miles on the car. Seemed like a no-brainer deal. How’d we do?

TSB 23-NA-041 – Clicking/ticking when turning left or right → Steering column support/steering rack issue
TSB 24-NA-034 – “Grunt”/clunk noise at low speeds (OPD / ACC) → Documented ABS behavior (more of an FYI, GM calls it normal, no repair needed)
TSB 24-NA-108 - if you have trouble connecting to Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. Its also a good idea to keep the software updated anyway.
TSB 22-NA-004 - Rear spoiler foam tape seal loose, visible to customer
TSB 22-NA-024 - Vibration, Hum or Drone Noise Heard from Front of Vehicle While Driving at Highway Speeds
Front bumper fascia not aligned - Can't find a TSB or reddit post on this one but its a common factory defect on alot of 22-23 Bolt's.
Rear seal gap in trunk - Can't find a TSB on this one but there are plenty of reddit posts. Most dealers won't do anything, but some may try to reclip it.
EUV: do you all have this huge gap above the rear bumper?
2023 Bolt EUV factory assembly defect?
Creaking Noise on Acceleration and sometimes on Deceleration - Many reddit posts. No TSB on this one but this is a common repair for most EVs due to the instant torque, increased weight from battery, and exposure to bumps/potholes in the road. It has to do with the control arms/bushings/swaybar end links. Also, very expensive to repair, up to $3-5K. I'd get this done under warranty if you can.
Creaking Noise Going Over Bumps
Creaking sound when coming to full stop and accelerating out of it
Knocking sound coming from rear - appears to be the seat frame latch. Some dealers may replace the latch or the entire seat.
Knocking, backseat, right hand side. Bolt EUV 2023
Door Trim Panel Makes Squeaking Sound - Any door. Likely from pushing against it and repeated open/close. It can be replicated by giving it a good shake and if it squeaks, it can potentially be covered under warranty. Not a common problem.
Hope the above helps! It'll save you a pretty penny down the road.

There always seems to be an appetite for actual numbers people are seeing, so I figured I would contribute now that I can.
Owned a 2023 EUV Redline Premier for 3 years, but never taken it outside the city thanks to my wife's Rav4.
Then work sent me on a course and so I took my Bolt as my wife was not coming with.
First time I've had to fast charge in 3 years of ownership, and it all went smoothly.
But, numbers:
300km trip exactly.
59.5 kwh used.
for 19.8kwh/100km, or 3.14mi/kwh.
Speed limit for most of the was is 110kph, although there is a "test" section just south of Edmonton where the limit is 120kph.
Temperature started at 5deg C, dropping to 2deg C by arrival.
Heating was on, but not really strongly, with a coat on and the steering wheel and seat heater I was quite comfortable with the heat on low.
Heavy mist to light rain pretty much the entire way. Wipers were going 90% of the time, although mostly on intermittent.
Pretty flat terrain, from Edmonton to Calgary, Alberta.
I am doing the reverse on Thursday to go home, but we are supposed to get a dump of snow (as much as 10cm) tomorrow, so I don't know the two trips will be comparable to see the effects of elevation or wind could be determined.
Red Deer is the midpoint between Edmonton and Calgary, and a major stopping point where most people stop for a break. As I'd never fast charged before, I played it safe and planned two shorter stops in Lacombe and Olds. (So three one-hour sections instead of two 1.5 hour sections.)
The first stop was a 50kw rated charger, that was okay on paper, seeing as the Bolt is only rated for 50kw as well. In reality, I only got 18 to 20kw out of it. I started the charge session with my battery still at about 60% though, so resistance was relatively high to start.
The second charger was rated for 100kw, and with the lower charge in my battery, the session started out at 45kw, but as the battery charged, you could watch the speed drop as the resistance increased.
I only charged for 15 to 20 minutes at each location though, I didn't need much honestly,
ABRP was pretty accurate. I don't have the ODB scanner, but even without it, ABRP was within 5% margin of error, maybe even as close as 2% margin of error.
While driving and looking at the KW reading on the dash, the 120kph section was significantly higher kw draw then the 110kph section. From the glances I got, the 120kph was averaging around 35kw, while the 110 section was 25kw. (The instantaneous draw number on the right of the dash.) But I only got glances, taking your eyes off the road at that speed is not a good idea.
The actual numbers for each section were not that different though, the ones I wrote down at each stop for average totals. The first section, which had part of it with the 120kph limit, was 20.1kwh/100km, while the second and third sections were 19.6 and 19.3kwh/100km respectively.
Nothing here that contradicts or goes against anything commonly accepted about road trips, but I have my first road trip under my belt and it went as smoothly as I could ask for.

How are the air conditioning and ventilated seats in the 2027 Bolt? We're thinking about getting one and a medical condition makes really cold AC a priority for us. 100+ degree days are common in the summer where we live.

Chevrolet has .9% APR right now and it had me thinking that this would be a great time to buy one. I'm perfectly happy with my 2020 and I don't care about the slower DCFC speed.
If anyone has owned both any insights as to what you like better in the 2027 besides the faster charging and the death fang delete?

Hi!
So mi tires need replacement soon (I'm at 3 and 4 rating, when 2 is the limit). I ordered the factory Michelin eco Saver SelfSeal like a month ago and today Americas Tire told me they don't actually have them because they are discontinued.
Ao I had to do some little research here and it seems people like the Hankook iON evo AS, Goodyear ElectricDrive 2 and Michelin e.Primacy.
Any advice between those 3?
It also seems none of them are self seal, which makes me worried. Do people carry a spare then?
Thanks!
Edit: I never drive on snow and rarely heavy rain, and ideally I prefer something that keeps the good range.

If my 2022 Bolt has a small refrigerant leak that occasionally requires a small can of Freon, will I eventually have to add POE oil?
Is there a DIY process for this?
The car has over 100k miles and I’m reluctant to take it to my dealership.

Love my Bolt. Just hit 130,000 on my 2023 bolt. My range has dropped to around 260 miles and no major repairs. This car is basically paying me to drive it!!!

I despise flare, novelties, and unnecessary bells and whistles. Bolt and Slate are my two choices, so I'm looking for perspective.
I also hate paywalled features, and I'm disappointed in Chevy. How painful is no android auto? I could at least mount a screen in the Slate and put whatever I want. But, I worry about overpaying for a Slate, which has no track record.
That said, the rest of Bolt's features seem very good to me. There are clear maintenance issues I see posted on this sub, but they seem relatively acceptable. I had a horrendous experience with my 2007 Chevy cobalt, so I'll just have to accept things have changed.
Anyway, I'm a fan of both vehicles but welcome and thoughts.

Hey folks,
One more quick question- is the difference between the RS and the LT worth it? I mean, I like the roof racks; we would use them. but I don't care as much about the wheel paint or the mood lighting in the car. So the question is, are ventilated front seats worth it? Up here in northern NB there aren't a lot of models to choose from, they only had an LT at our dealership, so as we look further afield it would be nice to know if the RS is just a prettier version of a great car.
I wonder if I’m the only one driving this thing into the ground 😂
Got a new job in May that requires me to drive about 90 miles a day. Bought the car brand new at the end of April, and I’m already at 13K miles. 😭
Don’t have the tech package, but honestly, this car has been a lot of fun to drive.

Happy to join the community this past week with my purchase of a 2027 Bolt RS. Funny enough, when I started to look into trading my 2022 Hyundai Kona Electric in for a new vehicle, the Bolt wasn't on my list (the main car I had on my mind was the Kia EV3).
I live in a rural town on the border of NB/NS (Canada) and had to bring my Kona in to fix the AC (covered under warranty) and decided to take a look at some new EVs while I waited.
I tried the new Kona Electric first, and while I liked it, the price and offer they gave me was kinda crazy. 5.19% and $50 more than I pay now. I had a nice option for leasing, but I prefer to own my vehicles at the end of payments.
GM was next door so I walked over thinking mainly of trying the Equinox EV. After talking to the sales person (who I might add was one of the best I have dealt with in all my years of buying vehicles – so friendly, personable, and also an EV owner), I reluctantly tried the Bolt. I will say, I didn't know about the new LFP battery or the faster charging speeds – the latter of which was a big decision maker for not going for the Bolt EUV when I bought my Kona. I tried the Bolt first and wow, so peppy and fun! While the Kona felt a bit smoother on the road, the Bolt felt like a really fun car to drive, which was one of the main things I was looking for in a new vehicle. I then tried the Equinox and honestly didn't like it as much. I HATED the steering wheel so much (way too girthy, felt like I was driving with a pool noodle for a steering wheel). It also wasn't nearly as fun. I ended up having my mind set on the Bolt almost right away.
The dealership let me take home one of their courtesy Bolt cars home for the day, which I think really helped sell the car. I went back the next day and started the buying process.
If you are wondering, I didn't even bother to go to Kia after trying the Bolt. The dealership didn't have any EVs there at all and I didn't want to be in a situation where I was waiting for months for my car like I did with my Kona. Having the car in stock was a big plus. In addition, some of the maintenance stuff from my Kona turned me off from Hyundai/Kia EVs.
The day I picked up my car, the dealership had sold two other Bolts. Someone wanted mine, which was on hold for me at the time, and another person came in and wanted the car that the other guy had put on hold for himself. Legit it seems like they are selling like hot cakes here.
Before you all ask, here are the reasons why I traded in my Kona:
1. Upcoming Battery Coolant replacement – Legit this f*king replacement is so expensive. $800 on the low end, with some apparently paying up to $1200. It gets replaced at 60,000KM and I was at 55,000KM, with some potentially long drives coming up with a trip from New Brunswick to Newfoundland and back. The Bolt has a similar replacement... at 240K KM. I have never driven a vehicle to that extent.
2. Needed to get new summer tires – in addition to the coolant, I would need to get new summer tires as mine were already on the tail end of their life when I switched my tires at spring.
3. Brakes were also close to needing to be changed - another expense. Great timing
4. 0% financing on the Bolt – great deal and with what they offered me on my Kona, if I went for 72 months financing (like I did with my Kona) my payment would actually be $10 cheaper. I ended up instead going for 60 months, which was roughly $30 more than I pay now, but would be paid off sooner.
5. Wanted faster charging speeds/more range - I am not the ideal candidate for an EV. I cannot charge at home, so am really reliant on the public charging network. Having a car that had more range or could charge faster was a big factor. While it has similar range to the Kona, the Bolt's LFP battery was a big selling point. Before any of you say I should be going with a hybrid instead if I can't charge from home, I still pay way less to charge compared to gas. Of course, it's annoying relying on the public network, but I'm hoping soon that I can move somewhere I can charge at home.
6. Everyone I know who has one loves theirs. Their only complaints were solved with the 2027 model. And all they need for service in tire rotation and cabin filter replacement (the latter I will do myself).
7. Unlike my new Bolt, my Kona didn't have Snow/Ice mode. I have gotten stuck at my parents' place before due to ice. While the Bolt doesn't have AWD, the snow/ice mode gives me a bit of a sense of relief. Will have to test it to see if it's okay on their icy Newfoundland hill.
I charged my car yesterday at the local DC fast chargers to check charging speeds and while I was there another new Bolt owner also parked to charge. She traveled from Fredericton to Halifax to get hers and had to ask the dealership there to hold a vehicle because they were selling them so fast!
Really happy to join you all and to learn all the neat tips and tricks!
Also, GM, if you are listening, I think you have an amazing car on your hands and should continue to make it. :)

Hey Folks,
We are considering buying the new bolt up here in Canada. But I am a bit concerned: since this is such a limited run, will that make it hard to get care and parts for it in the future? How has it been getting parts for the older bolts, and how are your Chevy dealerships for maintenance and parts for the Bolts. Particularly in Canada?

Took the plunge and bought my first EV Bolt right off the showroom floor. Super excited. Any tips for getting great mileage? Likes or dislikes? I got over the no-car play, as long as Apple Music is working I’m good.
I hope everyone is doing well with their vehicles.

A problem with EVplay, which works well wirelessly through bluetooth, is that it uses the phone's cell network to access the internet. I found out that a hardwired connection through EVplay to a 2027 Bolt EV's usb port SHOULD allow access through the car's Wifi network instead of the phone's cell network.
This did not work for me. The usb port did not recognize the phone wired through the EVplay.
No matter how I reconfigured just every setting imaginable this did not work, and tech support at EVplay was stumped too. They said that "thousands' of EVplay users has no problem with this on the 2027 Bolt EV.
I have not tried a flash drive in the usb port. I would have to obtain one and put music on it to try. I may or may not try that.
iPhone does not communicate with the car through the usb port. I am using EVPlay LT and and trying to use wired CarPlay.
Any help with this would be gratefully received.

Morning, all!
I've gone through the manual for our 2023 Bolt EUV and haven't been able to find out under what conditions battery conditioning happens. Does anybody have any information on this? Also, is there a way to trigger battery preconditioning before a DC fast charge? TIA!
Hi All... I'm looking for a spare tire or donut that will fit below the floor in the hatch. If you've found one, please let me know...

So I bought a Used 2019 Bolt with 65k Miles For 13.6k back in May. After 1 year of registration and Tax - It came out to be 15.5k Out the Door.
Battery was replaced 2 years ago, and I have another 5 years of Warranty on it.
I had a minivan that I was using to commute to work, and I was hoping to change some of those commute miles to electric, Saving on Gas, ETC
Increase Sale value of Both cars
They said saving miles on my Van will help the resale value of my Van in 5 years.
In 5 years I will resell the Bolt for 5500$, and 40k less miles on my Van, Will increase the resale value of my Honda by 4.5k.
So by buying the Bolt, adding another car. in 5 years. When I sell my Van and Bolt, I will make 10k Dollars.
So If I keep both cars for the next 5 years. I really only am paying 5.5k to get a 3rd car.
Gas savings vs using Electricty
12k miles on driving per year - Assuming4kw Per Mile - I pay 7cents per KwH -
12k miles / 4 kw = 3000 KWH per year x .07 cents = 210$ per year on Electricity
Van - Gets 22miles an hour
12k miles / 22 miles an hours = 545 Gallons of Gas * $4.50 = $2,454 Spent on Gas
So 2454 - 210 = Savings of 2244$ Of using electricity vs Gas
2244 * 5 years = $11,222 Savings on Gas after 5 years.
Other factors to Consider - Less Maintenance and Oil Changes on my Van, But increase insurance and registration
1) 12k miles = 2 oil changes (Synthetic) - 200$ Saving per year
2) Less Fluid Flushes - 100$ Savings per year
3) Increase Insurance of having added car - 336$ extra per year
4) Car Registration for bolt- 200$ per year.
5) Maintenance on Bolt - 100$ a year (Estimate)
Overall -$336 a year, -$1680 after 5 years
Overall
1) Increase Resale Value of Van and selling Bolt - 10k increase after 5 years
2) Gas savings - 11,222$ after 5 years
3) Miscellaneous - -1680$
4) Cost of car 15.5k
So buy buying an extra Commute car - I should be up 4k - By Buying the Car after 5 years
Reality.....
Oh boy I didn't know all the little expenses that just added up
Tint the car, I live in a hot sunny place, So I needed it - 500$, 12V batter went out, 200$, Back Trunk Lift support not good, 30$, Replace Brake Fluid, Coolant, and 2 new tires (I didn't know tires on EV go out quicker) - 700$
- So I added 1.4k in expenses in just the first 4 months.
Now the car is having some electrical issues, Where I need to Jump start the car every week. Apparently one of the brake module is causing a paracytic Drain, Its Been in the shop for the last 2 days. Since Bolts are not that common, and they don't have lots of electric mechanics it takes longer to repair. Cost - Unknown.
Other issues - Suspension - Oh boy you feel every bump on these older cars.
Do I regret my decision...
At this time NO, If the car gets repaired without any other major issues, I'm still up 2k by buying this car. And its nice to be better to the environment and not use gas.
But if all these small issues keep happening, I could be in the negative.

Does anyone know why it seems like the 2027 Bolts are missing automatically adjusting/speed sensitive audio volume? The earlier Bolts had it (as do a ton of other cars on the market), and it seems super easy to program. My commute takes me on and off the highway and it is annoying to have to manually adjust it every time.

UPDATE: Thanks everyone. I am 100% confident in my decision to cancel my extended warranty.
Hi all. I just bought a 2022 Bolt EV with just over 5,000 miles. It‘s in great shape. I have a 12 month bumper to bumper and 48 months battery warranty included.
I initially agreed to a 10 year extended warranty that ran me about $3,500, but I had huge buyer‘s remorse on the ext warranty driving home. I do know that I can cancel it with no penalty. So, two questions:
Thanks!

Owned since new with about 14 miles on it.
Currently at 93,664. Battery replaced at ~29,000. Battery warranty good till 129,018 or March 26, 2031.
Has a hitch for bikes, I used it for a dirt bike. No trailer light hookup. Tinted.
Got into a fender bender a week ago. Passenger fender is bent in a bit. Bumper got some rubber rash on it. No wind noise etc. You can get one from www.car-part.com for ~$200. I just don't want to deal with it since I just want to sell it.
Couple of scrapes on 2 wheels.
As you all know it's a great little car, I just don't have any use for it anymore.

The 2027 Bolt is my 5th EV and I would give it a solid 9.5 out of 10. It's almost criminal that this isn't the best selling car in America. I just don't understand why everyone needs a 3-ton tank as their daily.
First let's get the cons out of the way.
- Storage cubbies are super slippery and don't hold stuff well
- Center floor storage makes space feel more cramped
- Difficult to hand-wash because of many nooks and crannies
- AC knob sits too close to your right knee, accidentally turning it on/off
- Volume knob sits too far on the other side of infotainment screen
- Car is full of hard plastics that scuff easily (not really a con, this is to save on costs)
These are minor complaints in an econobox. The car is otherwise delightfully perfect for short commutes and quick trips to Costco. The motor sits in the front, which means no frunk but a lot more interior space and generous passenger space (no problem carrying family of four). It has decent physical control buttons and the AC works great.
I recently came from an Equinox EV that is ridiculously heavy and drives like a fucking boat, slow to start and slow to stop. It was going to give me atherosclerosis so I replaced it with the Bolt, which uses the same 210-hp motor but is 1,300 lbs lighter. As a result, it's very snappy and fun to drive. It's also easy to park (=a lot less stress for me), and what if someone dings it in the parking lot? Well... it's an economy car, who cares.
Mine is the barebones LT model, paid $25,551 OTD ($7k off MSRP) after dealer discount and state rebates. Where else can you get a decent vehicle for that in this economy? Also I just didn't see the need for any options:
| Option | Why not needed |
|---|---|
| Power-adjustable seat | Adjust seats manually once, done forever |
| Heated seats/steering wheels | Not needed in SoCal |
| Leather steering wheel | Plastic feels better & I always nick the leather |
| Sunroof | Waste of money on short drives |
| Evotex (faux leather) | Doesn't belong in an econobox and only serves to highlight the hard plastics |
| Super Cruise | Not needed for short drives; glitchy as hell |
...or the RS trim for that matter:
| What you get | Why not needed |
|---|---|
| Sportier look | Superficial; performance is exactly the same |
| 3D surround view | Car is small enough to park with low effort |
| Dash cam | Low res; just get a $200 dash cam |
| Vented seats | $50 cooling mat from Amazon does the job |
Anyhow, these upgrades would feel entirely out of place in the Bolt. Also consider that depreciation hits higher trim cars more.
Common complaints and my experience:
| Complaint | Reality |
|---|---|
| No Apple Carplay | Google Maps, hands-free calling, Bluetooth audio work fine. 8 year connectivity. Don't need to text constantly. |
| Infotainment angle is weird | Good visibility and I'm an average 5'10" |
| Short range | 270 miles is more than enough and honestly how many road trips are you taking annually |
| Slow charging | Doesn't matter if home charging |
| Ride is choppy | Not as bad as I thought. Won't bother you in the city |
| Seats uncomfortable | Yes after about 30-40 minutes |
| Stereo sucks | Only if you're an audiophile, didn't notice |
| Will be orphan car | Shares parts with older Bolts/Equinox; GM typically maintain parts supply for 6-10 years; EVs in general need much less replacement; older gen Bolts now in high demand |
| Too small, may get crushed by SUVs | True |
IMHO this is absolutely the right car for you if:
- You live in a city
- Your commute is less than 30-40 minutes (this negates a lot of the cons)
- You have home charging
- You don't care about status symbol and just need something to get you from point A to point B.
- You're like saving money on the price of the car, gasoline, time saved on maintenance, and low insurance rates. Yes, that extra $$$ belongs in your Vanguard account.

My 2023 Bolt was hit by a speeding driver and totaled, to my dismay. I am looking to buy a 2022 or 2023 Bolt EV for city/outer boroughs driving. Don’t love the gearshift/interior of 2021 and before. I only drive 15 miles on a typical day (commute to work), rarely have passengers, and street park, so the Bolt EV was perfect for me.
I was holding out hope that with the 2027 Bolt being out for several months now, more used Bolts might become available. Is this a pipe dream? I have 20k-ish to spend (prefer to buy cash, this is based on my insurance payout from the totaled car). Do we think I will be able to find one in the next month or so, or should I just give up on my used Bolt EV dream?
