Question Can someone please explain the logic behind the morning N/W skipping past the local stations??
It seems to happen quite a bit in the mornings for Manhattan bound. What could possibly be gained trom the 30 seconds it takes to stop at the (clearly crowded) station?? The most irritating way to start a morning commute

Other I pulled what every New York City hospital actually charges for common medical procedures, the price gaps are wild.
Insurers are legally required to publish their negotiated rates with hospitals (Transparency in Coverage Act), but they bury it in massive, nearly impossible to access files. So I scraped millions of these pricing data points across New York.
Interesting findings from colonoscopy pricing data in Astoria:
- A colonoscopy ranges from $2,250 to $6,794, a 3x difference for the same procedure.
- The Endoscopy Center of Queens in Astoria is listed at $2,250, while Mount Sinai Queens is listed at $6,794.
I’ve only done this for common procedures so far (MRI, colonoscopy, PCP visits, ultrasound, X-ray, etc.) on the map. If you want extensive procedure pricing data, you can use the chat on the page.
You can have a look here: https://momentarylab.com/new-york-care-atlas?metro=new-york-city&procedure=colonoscopy

Lost/Found: Animals Reddita update - Tuesday
form.jotform.comHi Astoria,
Some of you very generously offered to help out in a foster capacity. We thought we had someone who just backed out. Reddita needs a place to go - ideally tomorrow night. She will be seeing the vet at 5pm and then will be ready.
I have created my own foster app - I am not a rescue - just a person trying to help the cats in our community. If you were considering fostering Reddita please please please fill out the attached form.
Thank you!

Seeking Recommendation: Food Custom cake
Hi everyone!
I’m looking for recommendations for someone local who makes custom birthday cakes in Astoria or nearby.
I’m hoping to get a cute Miffy-themed cake similar to the reference photo, but for about 15 people.
I received a quote for $300, which is a bit more than I was hoping to spend. I’d love to find a local home baker or small bakery that could make something similar at a more reasonable price.
The party is on December 5th or 6th.
Would appreciate any recommendations! Thank you!

Other Spectrum outage AGAIN
Call Spectrum and request a service credit. I got credit for two days. ALMOST THREE DOLLARS! I can't even get a cup of coffee for that. They do credit you for the whole day for every outage of two hours or more.

Question GAME OVER signs at Tru
Did anyone happen to read what is written on the multiple signs newly plastered on the old Tru restaurant on Ditmars? I was in the bus so I couldn't stop, but I saw one read "GAME OVER" in all caps. There's gotta be a story there.

Hey guys, is there a vet other than bond vet in Astoria that you recommend? I had a horrible experience at bond vet and they’re expensive for no reason.

Question Does anyone know of an old restaurant in Astoria with wooden booths like these? (Reference photos)
Hello all,
I'm an independent filmmaker currently searching for a restaurant or diner location for a short film I'm preparing to shoot on black-and-white 16mm.
I'm looking for a fairly specific kind of older restaurant interior, similar to the reference photographs attached.
Specifically, I’m trying to find somewhere with at least 4-5 wooden booths along a wall that have this sort of modest, pre-war art-deco style. I wish there was a name for this precise style, but there doesn't really seem to be.
It doesn't necessarily have to be a diner. An old-fashioned restaurant, luncheonette, café, tavern, lunch counter, former soda fountain, social club, bowling alley, etc. could work just as well, as the important things are the old woodwork, booth layout, and a place that still feels relatively unchanged.
I'm not expecting anyone to know of an exact match, but if these photographs remind you of somewhere in the area (or beyond, no matter how far) I'd be very grateful for any suggestions.
Thanks so much!

Question Best places to buy soup?
Ideally I’d wanna buy it in quantities of around two pints from the grocery store to heat up at home, but open to suggestions on carry out or cheap sit down restaurants.
Recommended soups must be hearty and have lots of chunks in it.
If you think panera makes good soup don’t even bother.
