Halloween Weekend

My friends and I are coming to Detroit for Halloween and were super excited to go to Big Pink on Saturday, as the vibes look so fun online. Unfortunately, tickets sold out before we had solidified our plan and now you can’t get one anywhere.

Anyone know a way to get 5 tickets before Saturday? Or have experience waiting in line at the door day of?

Feel free to drop recs for places with a similar nightclub vibe, maybe there’s a hidden gem like it that we can go to if Big Pink doesn’t work out!

Have a fun and safe Halloween everyone!

Question re. Upcoming Visit

Hello Fellow Rust Belt Icons -

I’m headed to Detroit tomorrow from Buffalo to see The Damned on 10/29 at The Majestic.

We’re staying at the AC Detroit at the Bonstelle, which is about a 10 minute walk from The Majestic. In your opinion, is that a pretty safe walk to/from, even at night?

Note - I’m not a scaredy cat at all and LOVE Detroit. This is just a basic common sense/logistical question. There’s places in
Butt-falo where I would and/or would not walk at night, too.

We were in Detroit in May of last year, as well, to see The Damned. Went to the Motown Museum (which was excellent) and were joined on our tour by another old UK punk band, Gang of Four. How magical is that? Detroit is so legit for both art and music.

We also went and checked out the Heidelberg Project, Eastern Market, and most of the amazing public art murals. This time we are going to DIA, which we missed last May.

Also looking for everyone’s favorite for Detroit pizza! Can’t remember where we went last time - but it was good!

Thanks!

Detroit/new in town/work

Hello! I’m a personal & lifestyle assistant and house manager that is looking for a role in or near Detroit helping older adults with their day to day affairs and household needs. I have vast experience and excellent references! I’m not having any luck on these estate job boards.

I have a creative background (makeup artist) and hospitality experience as well. I can paint a face, mix a drink, plan a lavish dinner party, organize your messy closets and take care of your pets. I’m open to all needs! Anyone out there hiring?

I’m looking to connect socially and professionally. I lived in NYC for most of my life and would love to move to Detroit. I don’t know a single soul, but I feel a pull to move there….

Apartment $1500 or less

Hi all,

I’m currently looking for an apartment in Detroit but am struggling to find one without bad reviews.

I used to live at Philip Houze from 2019-2023, and even though the reviews aren’t the greatest online for it, I personally had no problems with the building at all & overall was happy. I just had to move because of work.

My top choice right now are apartments in Brush Park, through City Modern Residences.. but once again, the reviews online are quite bad, but I’m wondering, has anyone actually lived there and how bad is it truly?

I understand the risks that come with parking your car on the street in Detroit, but has anyone had actual experiences with the units?

I see the main complaint is that you can get locked out and the management company is unresponsive, but I mean they have an office in Brush Park, so I reckon I could just go to them direct.

If you all have any other apartments I should have on my radar please let me know.

The one thing I absolutely do not want to have is rats or bugs or a building with water leaks that could have lingering mold.

Trying to stay below $1500.. any advice is very much appreciated
