Application Question Am I behind if I'm not doing Early Application?

• Upvotes

Literally everyone I know is submitting apps by Nov 1 (early application) and I am doing regular for all my schools. The more people talk about it the more I get worried that my chances will be lower and im making the wrong decision. Is anyone else doing all regular? Im kinda scared now since i dont know anyone who is doing regular this year.

Advice Going to college in mid 20s after not going fresh out of high school.

• Upvotes

Hey everyone I’m looking for some advice on how to go about finding a good credible online college that are good with people who work full time and is fairly affordable. I am wanting to go back and get a degree in business administration. I didn’t go to college right out of high school so I’m very nervous as this is a big step for me and I’m planning on starting in August of 27’. I’m also curious about the best way to start applying to these places and getting the stuff I need together to be able to apply and kinda how the process usually works. Thanks in advance everyone.

College Questions Best In-State Colleges/Universities in Texas for Merit-based Financial Aid?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone, I'm a prospective ME student in Texas trying to apply in-state colleges right now. My family doesn't meet the need-based requirements for FAFSA (annual household income >200k), but said that they aren't willing to pay for tuition unless I go to some fancy out-of-state private university (which I probably won't get accepted into). Any college/university with an ABET-accredited program is fine for me, as long as I get my bachelor's with <100k in debt. I would prefer if the college had good programs and opportunities, though.

My stats are: 3.96 UW, 102.4 W(100-point scale), top 10%, 1540 SAT, and decent ECs(NIETOC, TFA, UIL, SkillsUSA, etc).

I'm currently looking at:
UT Austin
Texas A&M
UTSA
UTD
U of H
Texas Tech

Any recommendation would be greatly appreciated.

College Questions should i submit 1430 sat to USC EA?

• Upvotes

so my gpa is not the best (3.75 unweighted school doesn't weight grades), 8 aps total (ones i have taken are all 4s and 5s), but i would say my ECs and essays are quite strong -- should i submit this to USC or go test optional or is that a bad look???

Application Question Applying with terrible grades

• Upvotes

Got 2 C's every year, some B's, and A's otherwise. I procrastinate until it's too late every time. All of my classes were honors or aps though except freshman year when I had some normal classes. My weighted gpa was right around 4 and I'm wondering if I'll even be able to get into schools with a 50% acceptance rate like UCI. I got 4 or 5 on every AP though, and a 1520 SAT. I was always good in tests, I just couldn't keep up with my work.

Application Question Should I submit test score UMich Ross

• Upvotes

Hi,
I currently have a 31 composite (29 math, 31 English, 35 reading) and I'm wondering if I should be submitting or going t/o for UMich Ross. I have a couple strong ec's including a business I've been running for 5+ years with 100k+ rev and multiple internships but my essays are solid, not amazing. I'm also applying EA. Any advice is amazing! Thanks

Advice Should I submit my 32 ACT to Duke?

• Upvotes

As the title suggests, I’m on the fence about whether or not to submit my ACT score to Duke. For some context, I got a 31 on math, 34 on science, 33 on reading, and 33 on english. I am applying early decision to Pratt for ECE. I come from a low income family and am enrolled in an early college program. My notable course rigor currently is Calculus 1 (A) and Discrete Mathematics (my only B), but by graduation I will have completed Calculus 3, Physics 2, Chemistry, C++, etc and have around 70 credits worth of classes. I have a 3.97 uw gpa and 4.69 w gpa and am in the top 10% of my class. Currently anticipating an A in Calc 2 (I have over 100% in the class) so I was hoping strong grades in university calculus could make up for my low math score. I‘m worried if I go test optional that admission officers will assume I scored way under what I actually did but I also know that my math score is a red flag for Pratt.

Any insight helps!

Application Question are college counselors needed

• Upvotes

My school college counselor and I just don’t have a good relationship, she seems to dislike me and is never that excited or supportive whenever I accomplish something. It’s just very awkward and I don’t find her comments on my essays helpful either. I just want to make sure — have others succeeded and gotten into good schools without using their college counselors/having one? Thanks.

College Questions Barnard College Supps + help

• Upvotes

Hi! I'm applying to Barnard college ED and needed some help for the supplementals. First of all, how abstract are you guys going for the trailblazing women prompt? I'm choosing a fairly controversial figure in social media rather than a historical one. Although I believe I have a good stance on the topic, I was unsure of the standard for this prompt. As for the questions one, I do not understand how to format this at all!! We only get 50 words---do i list one question and give a brief explanation?? Do i list a few and opt out of the explanation? Either way, the space is limited and there isn't any previous example to look at that appeals to this word count!!

Additionally, if anyone has ANY advice for applying, please feel free to share. Barnard is my dream college and I would love to have any piece of advice that could benefit me!

Application Question washu applicant

• Upvotes

i was wondering if i should submit my sat (1500 superscore; 720 reading and 780 math) to washu as a ed applicant. it sits right on the 1500-1570 range but since many people just go test optional and get in, i cant decide if that score is going to help me or not.

Application Question Can I list an award I got summer after 8th grade?

I received an award the summer after graduating middle school, but I think it was signed off to me in middle school. I don’t even have the certificate anymore, so I’m not even sure if I’m recalling this right, though. Is it okay to list?

Application Question college apps and grades

how important are ninth grade grades? I got 5 A- : in pe both semesters, 1 in spanish and 1 in video production that I brought up to an A second semester, and in AP bio second semester. I maintained all A's in 10th grade and have gotten a 5 on AP bio, chemistry, euro, and psych.

I don't mean to be a stickler for grades I just want to know if it makes a huge difference for top schools?

Financial Aid/Scholarships College recommendation

My SAI score is very high (above 15,000), so I do not qualify for need-based aid. I was wondering if anyone knew of any colleges in Virginia or West Virginia that offer good transfer scholarships, or if it would be better to attend a public university without one. I have a 4.0 GPA at my community college, and I want to earn a bachelor’s degree in finance.
