Yesterday marked 1 year of closing every ring every day. Between 8,000 - 15,000 steps per day, 30 - 90 exercise minutes depending on workout, and around 800 active calories per day minimum.

PSA: watchOS 27.2 does NOT fix indoor run/walk distance inaccuracies

Unfortunately, the update does't address the ongoing issues with inaccurate distance calculations for indoor treadmill workouts. My standard 4 mile run took me 4.55 miles to complete 4.0 Apple Watch miles. Very frustrating.

watchOS 27.2 out. Anyone’s GPS issue fixed?

A few people including myself noticed that the GPS was off when we updated to 27.

Now that 27.2 is out, has anyone tested it out on a run yet?

Zone 5

I did a 30 minute HIIT cycling class and was in Zone 5 for 10 minutes. Does this seem normal? I don’t work out regularly and typically don’t do intense workouts.

how do you stop yourself from obsessing over the sleep score every morning

i started wearing my apple watch to bed about six months ago and at first it was cool to see the data. but now every morning the first thing i do is check my sleep score and if its bad my whole day starts off wrong. like i FELT fine until i saw a 68% and now suddenly im tired.

ive tried just not looking but its right there when i raise my wrist. ive tried turning off the sleep focus but it still shows the summary.

has anyone actually found a way to keep wearing it for the alarm and silent taptic wake but NOT see the score? or did you just stop wearing it to bed entirely? i feel like the data is making my sleep worse not better which is so backwards

How accurate is the Series 12 Pedometer?

I’ve had mine for about a month now but I’m unsure how accurate the step count is. Is there any way to check its accuracy?

Holt is now available with Apple Health integration

After long development and testing, Apple Health is now available as integration.

Holt will show your data in a nice and friendly way. You just go into settings and enable it.

Holt also has "Holt Coach" that will prepare you for your next big race. It is a deterministic engine and not some AI or ML model where nobody knows what is going on behind it. This approach ensures same output with same input which makes sure it is consistent.

Holt is a pet project of mine and something I wanted to do for a long time.

It is free for everyone, and will be. This app that you see and feature it has right now will always be free no matter what. I won't be running involuntary ads, so don't worry about that 😄

You can join Holt's Discord server and follow on Instagram (links are in the App's settings)

I see there is no promotions rule, but I thought since the app is free and I don't earn anything from it, it is okay. I am sorry if I broke the rules.

Anyway, happy training, and thanks for reading.

Age-based heart-rate zones never fit me, so I built something. Looking for honest feedback

When I started Zone 2 training, the standard “220 minus age” zones were way off for me. My Watch said Zone 2 when I was barely working. A few things that helped:

  • Setting zones from resting heart rate (the Karvonen method) instead of age alone
  • Tracking weekly minutes per zone instead of judging each workout by itself
  • Checking my live zone mid-workout so I could actually stay in it

I built a small iPhone and Apple Watch app around that, called PulseZones. It does custom zones, weekly zone goals, and a live zone on the Watch, and it pulls from any workout saved to Apple Health. I’m a solo developer.

I’d really like feedback from people who train by heart rate. What’s confusing, what’s missing, and what would make you actually use it?

To say thanks, I’ll DM a free Lifetime Pro code to anyone who comments and is willing to try it and tell me what they think.
