Its been a really odd experience with medication recently. Where when its working well I have a quieter mind and dont do and think twelve thousand things at once rapidly. And idk what I expected, but recently Ive found that periods when Im genuenly just thinking one thing at a time, and Im only thinking on the current task I am doing, and most importantly, thoughts dont flow endlessly into one another and you actually need to deliberately think something for a second. Ive found myself being briefly terrified that Im like, dying, or something. Like I thought I was having brain fog but Im entierly coherent and functional, Im just, like, not projecting into the fourth dimention. And well, I guess thats the point. I got into medication purely to help with executive disfunction. And I thought that would take the form of being able to channel those all consuming hyperfocus states every day. And well, no. I just like sit and work for a couple hours and get good work done and like, remember who I am by the end. (Partially exagerated, but I think we can all relate)
Like idk, its probably good for me. Its just not something I have any real reference for so I get kind of panicky about it. Its also ocurred that I procrastinate on certain tasks because I know I will just be thinking about said task while I do it and not something else at the same time, and that notion makes me nervous but when I get to it Im fine.
Just, weird I guess. Ive gotten so used to the usual flow of things that the second I enter a presumably stable state, I think Im having a stroke. That and I think I might have accidentally given myself some kind of work ptsd where so much of my productivity has come from 15+ hour stretches of pure unfiltered panic work, that my body and mind assume a short study session is going to be that stressful as well.
I guess reciving disability support after compensating your whole life is always jarring. Surely this has happened to others right?
