Advice Where’s all the originality gone with mods?

What’s going on nowadays? Everyone is in a dmax, bt50 or np300, and they ALL have the same stupid chrome / silver rims and the mods are all copy and paste and they all look mediocre to ridiculous and don’t at all add to any of the off-road capability of these cars.

What happened? Don’t get me wrong I’ve seen many cycles of “popular” but atleast back in my day it had more variety and people actually built proper off road rigs.

Your dmax with the silver rims isn’t original, it’s what everyone does, it’s boring

Advice Petrol 4wd (1986)

Anyone here running or ran a petrol carbureted 4wd?

Suggestions and ideas on how to keep water away from my Carby, Ign coil, distributor and spark plugs. Not doing river crossings, just to stop the splashback from mud holes and wet tracks from affecting my truck.

Looking into building splash shields using sheet metal and that thin rubber stuff used in factory wheel wells on older trucks to keep water from splashing into the engine bay.

Help? 🤣

For reference i have a 1986 Nissan Navara 1.8L Petrol

Advice Prado Flat Rack

Looking to replace my now failing Kings flat roof rack with something of better quality on my 2012 Prado (150 series), torn between ARB base rack and a Rhino Rack.

Currently used for moving around the occasional building materials and predominantly used to transport my Kayak (I just strap it down sitting flat on the rack currently).

I also have a double swag and a gazebo but they usually go in the boot - absolutely no plans to install a roof top tent, currently have a basic 2m awning but may consider a 270⁰ down the track.

There's not much point of difference between the two that make me lean one way or the other.

Thoughts on either option if you have had them both?

Preference on T mount or dovetail?

Slats North to South vs East to West?

Wind noise? (Presumably better than the one I have now anyway)

Powdercoat durability? Vehicle is stored outside 24/7

Thanks legends!
