My usual weekend brunch at the Japanese-style spot downstairs

There’s a little Japanese-style brunch place right downstairs from my apartment, and this is what I end up ordering pretty much every weekend, plus a coffee ☕

The steak is the best part. It’s got a lot of marbling, so it’s super tender and juicy!!! And the green sauce on top cuts through the richness. Then there’s a soft egg with a sprinkle of chili, broccolini, quinoa, corn, edamame and a handful of pumpkin and sunflower seeds. Breaking the yolk into the quinoa is the move.

I logged it once out of curiosity. It came out to around 850 kcal with about 55 g of protein, which feels pretty balanced for how filling it is. Lots of veg, whole grains and protein. The fat is on the higher side, mostly from the steak, seeds and sauce, but honestly that’s also why it tastes so good lol

Southern dinner | 582 cal | 63g protein

2 large, 1 medium chicken drumstick (being conservative with size), nearly 1.5 cups deskinned and deboned with some cartridge still. Debone and deskin after boiled.
Thaw, boil in salt, then pan fry until crispy. I added garlic powder and 4 tsp of ranch powder seasoning. 362 cal for chicken, 50g protein, + 40 cal seasoning. Boil chicken for 20 mins and pan fry for about 12 mins on medium heat while stirring a good amount.

Vegetarian baked beans, 1/2 cup, 110 cal 6g protein.
2.5 cups raw collard greens 25 cals, 1/2 tbs of imperial butter 17.5 cals, 25 cal 5g protein diced ham slice, and a 3.5 cal stevia packet. Add onion powder, garlic powder, sauté ham, then add butter and stevia. Add collard greens, seasonings, then mix, and steam for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Full cooked volume, 2 and 3/4 cup.

I had a serious craving for Walmart ranch chicken wings but wanted a cheaper choice. The ranch seasoning was only $2 and everything else was at home! Waaaay lower fat as well.

Is 1500 calories reasonable for me?

I currently am a 265lb male age 21 5’8, I want to reach 240lbs by christmas.

My end goal is 200lbs, I plan to move to NC sometime next year or the year after. I am considering becoming a Deputy or maybe look at the Marine Corps since I am moving nearby.

I was wondering if eating 1,500 calories a day is optimal for me at my current weight. I also am curious about macros and how much protein, carbs, fats, etc I should be eating during it.

How to eat healthy when you love to cook?

I'm really struggling with staying committed to healthy, low-calorie eating because I absolutely love to cook. A recipe that takes hours is my idea of fun, and my perfect Sunday is sharing a bottle of wine with my husband and hanging out in the kitchen all afternoon making some elaborate sauce or soup or pasta. I recognize that I want and need to eat healthier, but the idea of putting my cookbooks away and just throwing together a basic protein/vegetable combo everyday is so underwhelming.

For those of you in the same boat: how do you balance it? Do you give yourself one fun meal a week, and the rest of the week is just sweet potatoes and ground beef?

[Almost] no calorie savory snack!

As an occasional sufferer of the munchies, I’ve started amassing a list of bingeable volume foods.

Tonight I discovered one I really enjoyed. Celery and Greek yogurt dip made with lemon juice and spices of choice (I did lime juice and everything but the elote seasoning). It’s “carrots and ranch” but even lighter.

3 meals and no snacks?

Has this been helpful for anyone with weight loss or just feeling satiated? I do find it easier to plan for and aim for 3 balanced meals. I am a snacker so it is very hard and I’ve never had great body awareness of when I’m actually full or hungry. I like to snack a lot and it’s too easy to overeat. Looking for people that have had success with this method?

Reminder to weigh your food!

Post image

This one always stumps me. This isn’t a one off, but every pack of this that I get is like this. Definitely a packing error of some sort. Whether the pack should say 280g instead, or they just love to over fill it. I think the former.

And, if you track calories, this is why it’s important to weigh your food.

Package weight = 180g

Nutrition calculated = ~1/2 pack

Actual weight (this is extra firm tofu, no liquid, and yes I did tare the scale to bowl under the tofu) = +280g.

The salad is just lettuce, cucumber, and tomato with salt and pepper topped with a chopped up Just Bare spicy chicken patty and I split the cottage cheese between the salad and spaghetti on top. So good and I don’t feel like I’m missing out on good food

So impatient to buy new clothes

My weight loss journey is going well which is great, but I find myself so excited to buy new clothes now that my body is changing!

I still have more weight to lose so I don't want to buy pants that will then be too big a month later but I'm dying to!

I have let myself buy new tops as all of my weight stores in my middle so my top size doesn't change.

Anyone else like this??

What do you think of this snack for a cheat day?

If you're going to snack on something during a cheat day, how does this look?

The taste seems right up my alley, but I'm wondering if it's actually a better option than regular chips in terms of calories and overall nutrition.

I'm still pretty new to eating healthy, so I'd love to hear what you guys think. Is this a decent alternative, or is it not that different from regular chips health-wise? 😅
