Southern co is doing fine right now
Honestly would have been the best day of the season last year with a 2.5 foot base. Zero rocks encountered.

Got around to painting the tram. If anyone knows where I can order a Jackson Hole sticker with white lettering let me know! Last option would be using a paint pen but my handwriting ain't pretty🤣. Front of the tram car is about 4 inches wide.

Hurt my knee a while back and haven't been skiing since. Really miss it and can't wait to get back out there, but I'm also a little nervous about messing it up again. For anyone who's been through this, how was it getting back on skis? Besides PT, did you use a knee brace or any other gear that helped? I'll obviously check with my doctor before getting back out there, just curious what worked for you guys.

I've got two sets of skis bought in 2015.
One is what I consider to be an all mountain set for cruising groomers at high speed. The other a much wider and shorter "powder" ski with frame-style alpine touring binding . Both have VERY little use. The bindings are in simply excellent condition as well. I never had any issues with either set over the past ten years of very limited use.
For context I drive a 2012 Mercedes GL450 SUV and have no reason for buying a new model. It as well is in excellent condition and been trouble free. Yeah, I know - hard to believe. :-)
I'm an advanced intermediate and not allowed by my surgeon to ski black diamonds or bumps any longer since I have a hip implant. Other than that I'm in excellent condition and work out regularly.
It's been few years since I've skied but now have an Epic pass - and at 72 - the time and money to put it to good use this year.
My question: Is there that much difference between my "old" skis and new models, and ditto with the bindings? ...and yes - I can afford to buy all new gear.
Obviously both sets should get a once over by a tech along with my boots before use.
Without getting into a drawn out name brand discussion I would appreciate your thoughts! Thank you.
Also posted in ski gear but there's a lot of folks here!

I have done all of the research. All of the readings of El Niño. I am doing the trip regardless of El Niño.
Question is
Hakuba
Or
Hokkaido
I am leaning towards more of Hakuba. Now just cause the reputation but I like the village feels and I’d like to be able to take a train to Tokyo for 2 days.

are there rules for skinning resorts? do they allow it before or during grooming operations on a powder day? I want to get into it because no matter if I’m first chair all the powder is tracked out right away, so I’m guessing the skinners are hitting first?
Sent this rock mid season at Perisher and forgot about it. Run down the Leichhardt was shut but some Aussie pow came down so there was some cushion. Still couldn’t stick the landing for the life of me.
(Ignore the grunting I had an AirPod in 💀)

I feel like if I dont specify, Japan will rule this post, so avoiding it up front.
Globally, where are your bucket list ski locations, either resorts or backcountry? Why are they on your bucketlist?
Just impatiently waiting for ski season to start and I'm day dreamin on a Monday.

I go skiing more than 3 times a year, but I only ski the slopes with so-called leisure skiing. I'm not the type to go deep into the mountain or out of the course. I own ski wear, but I don't have boards and shoes, and I always rent them. Which is more advantageous, continuing to rent or purchasing as it is?

Want to replace the bindings on a pair of skis I really like, any suggestions on somewhere online people like to buy just bindings from? I’m already looking at evo. And on that note I guess, any suggestions on what to buy? I have been a broke young person until recently and just keep buying used stuff so I am not familiar with new gear tbh, I would rate myself an advanced skier, will be pushing the bindings very hard. These are for 174 k2 backlashs

I’d probably only skin up my local mtn on fresh snow days. don’t plan on backcountry.

Hi! I’m buying my first pair of skis and ski boots, and I could really use some advice. I’ve visited several shops, but everyone seems to have a different opinion, and some salespeople don’t seem to listen to what I’m looking for at all. They just show me the equipment they want to sell.
I’m not looking for recommendations for specific models, but rather some guidance on which ski parameters I should focus on. First, though, a little background:
I’m a 33yo woman, active and in good physical shape. I’ve been doing sports since childhood, but I only started skiing last year. I’ve picked up skiing on edge and controlling my skis at higher speeds (I managed to reach 70 km/h/43,5 mph). However, I still need to work on my carving technique, putting more pressure on my skis, and bringing my inside ski a little closer to the outside one.
I’d like to buy my own skis because renting doesn’t make financial sense for me. On my last trip, which lasted a few days, I used a pair of lightweight, typical rental skis: Fischer Aspire, 150 cm long, 2025 model, with a 72 mm waist and a 14,5 mturn radius.
As an inexperienced skier with relatively little time on the slopes, I was happy with them. They were easy to turn and easy to get onto their edges. However, I realise these are very basic beginner skis that might only be suitable for me for another season at most. I’m looking for something I can progress with, but I’m not sure which parameters I should prioritise.
I’ll mainly be skiing in Europe, both in the Alps and at resorts in Central and Eastern Europe (Poland and the Czech Republic), where the slopes and conditions can be quite different.
My stats and skiing preferences:
Here are the parameters I’m considering (I need your help with point 3. and 4. the most)
I need skis to help me improve my carving while being safe and comfortable at slightly higher speeds.
One shop advised me to stick with shorter skis and simply choose a stiffer model, while another recommended the opposite.
I know the best option would be to test different skis and see what works for me, but I have at least three ski trips planned, and renting for all those days would be too expensive comparing to buying used or even new ones. There’s also the hassle of having to go to a rental shop each time. Honestly, I’d much rather own my equipment so I can go on spontaneous ski trips whenever I feel like it, with everything ready to go.
Could you help me put together a list of ski specifications to look for when shopping? I want something that will help me improve my technique without becoming limiting too quickly, while still being manageable at my current level. The skis for 2-3 seasons at least.

Park skiing from last season. My local resort doesn’t have a great park so coming to LL is always sweet!
Still working on improving tricks, any tips/advice from the park rats is greatly appreciated!

For those who have done a sail and ski tour in Norway (don't care where), how was the experience? Is it worth the price?
In my head it's just this epic adventure where you live on a boat for a week, ski super cool couloirs all day, have someone cook for you and then just chill on the boat all evening.

Hey folks! I’m looking for recommendations for a good winter jacket that I can also use for skiing.
I’m a casual skier and only go about twice a year, so buying a dedicated ski jacket feels a bit hard to justify. Ideally, I’d like something that works well for skiing but can also double as a good everyday winter jacket, since I need one anyway.
My budget is around $250, and I’m 6’1” and 230 lbs. I’m open to any brands or suggestions, so I’d really appreciate any recommendations. Thanks!

I’ve never been skiing before in my life and want to try it out. What are the best European ski resorts for a beginner to visit. I’m looking for a place that offers lessons for beginners, has airport transfers and is a ski in/ski out resort!
