Courses Is anyone ACTUALLY happy with how KINE 1001 is being run?
Seems like every person I talk to regardless of section hates how it’s being run.

Hi everyone,
We’ve updated r/yorku’s AutoModerator settings to make them more balanced and less disruptive.
The goal is simple: clear spam and unsafe links should be removed, but normal student posts should not be hidden unnecessarily.
AutoModerator should now be less aggressive with things like surveys, URL shorteners, Reddit links, crossposts, long titles, and comments on older posts.
It will still act on known scam/tracking links, affiliate spam, heavily reported content, and other obvious spam patterns.
For surveys/forms, AutoModerator may ask posters to provide basic context so students can tell whether the post is legitimate and relevant.
We’ll keep adjusting the settings if needed. If your post or comment gets removed by mistake, please message the mod team.

How is gym at YorkU? Is it convenient? How crowded is it? Are there shower rooms? How is the overall experience?

This is definitely a vent because there’s a girl standing directly behind me talking loud af on the phone. PLEASE take your phone calls elsewhere?? I can’t believe this even needs to be said. It is not appropriate to stand in the middle of the library and talk on the phone. Please have some respect for the people around you, this is not high school

Has anyone with SAS accommodations dealt with a prof who won’t share their slides? This prof has a stick up his ass n teaching an even more bs course. It’s too late to drop, my accommodations say I can have access to course materials. How do I go about dealing with this it’s a year long 😭😭

i’m 19, a psych major, and I go to York. I have like two friends and I really wanna make more. I’m extroverted, but for some reason I’m incredibly socially, awkward and bad at making friends with people and keeping them long-term. I’d really like to make friends with people, preferably in my own major because I find it fun to study with other people! So if anyone would be interested in hanging out around York and studying as a collective, or even just hanging out in general please HMU!!!

York’s site says each required course (ENG4U, MHF4U, MCV4U, SCH4U, SPH4U) needs a minimum of 70%. If my Advanced Functions mark sits in the low 70s (like a 71-74%), but my overall Top 6 ends up in the mid-to-high 80s (because of strong marks in physics, chem, english, and electives), do they care that the math mark is close to the cutoff? Or is clearing 70% enough as long as the total average is competitive? Past Admission Averages: For current Lassonde Engineering students (especially in Civil), what overall Top 6 average did you get accepted with, and around what month did your offer come in?
Just tryna figure out everything about York and what averages you can get in with

Hi everyone! 🦷☺️
I am a dental hygiene student currently completing my final semester of dental hygiene school, and I am looking for clients to help me fulfill my clinical requirements in order to graduate!
I am especially looking for:
🦷 Clients who have not had a professional dental cleaning in 5+ years
🦷 Clients with visible buildup/tartar on their teeth
📅 Appointment Times:
• Thursdays: 8:00 AM–12:00 PM
📍Location: 28 Vanley Cres, North York, Ontario
⏰ Appointments are approximately 4 hours long, as they are completed as part of my clinical training under the supervision of licensed dental professionals. Complete treatment may take anywhere from 4-6 appointments.
If you or someone you know may be interested or in need of a cleaning, please feel free to reach out to me! I would greatly appreciate any shares or recommendations.
Thank you so much for helping me on my journey toward becoming a future dental hygienist! 🦷✨
*Please note: There is a screening process required, and not everyone may qualify depending on their oral health and the requirements of my program

Group of protesters in front of the York University subway station protesting the experiments on monkeys.
These people are harassing students and making rude comments, and commenting on peoples' appearances if they don't scan their QR code???
Genuinely what are these guys motives? Verbally harassing and bullying random students?

First of all, I’m asian. I moved to Canada almost 6 yrs ago. Most people think I’m Chinese and nobody really think I’m scary person because my face is much like typical baby asian face. Whenever I talk with someone, I feel anxious because obviously I’m introvert. But the problem is, it’s really hard to talk to white people. I’m not trying to be racist but I’m very serious and want to fix this. Especially those girls with all makeup and long nails, I get scared talking to them.
I do have low self esteem, because I don’t think I’m pretty all the time.
People judging by appearance is something I’m scared of, but I’m also scared of people thinking like “oh that Chinese girl talk to me lol” and giggling with their friends.
Plus I get scared because english is my second language and sometimes I don’t understand what people say… (This kinda made me introvert)
I really don’t like thinking this way and wanna ask for advice for anything that can help :(

Has anyone applied to the PAcc program for winter 27 and heard back?
Also, is anyone looking to finish the Gdip in April then continue studying to go straight to the September 2027 CFE? I want to do that, but it would be nice to meet some folks looking to do the same from this program so we can do debriefs together to prep for the CFE.

I find myself often learning a chapter, doing in chapter review questions, getting them correctly, but then during the exam or if I so textbook questions I start getting things wrong. And then I have to sit there learning how to do certain problems, and it feels like im learning something totally different
Does anyone else have this dilemma or am I just slow..
r/yorku • u/ryan77999 • 1d ago
If all goes well, I should graduate this coming April. However, I have found it difficult lately to enjoy anything extracurricular I've been participating in, because I'll just be distracted by thoughts of "Make the most of this while it lasts. These opportunities are going to end soon. This is 'easy mode' for socializing and forming connections, and you're still not making the most of it? You'll be cooked once you're out in the Real World™, especially in terms of finding a path in life since you still have no idea what you want your career to be. Cherish every second. Why are you not cherishing every second? CHERISH IT!".
I'd be lying if I said this mindset isn't at least partially colored by my experience of not participating in anything in high school, followed by COVID-19 snatching away my final semester of Grade 12 just as I was resolving to be more participatory and outgoing. I suppose I just want to avoid looking back on university with the same regrets as high school.
Things I have done:
Does anything else come to mind that you think would be worth trying out?
