DVD set
I have seen discussions about the best versions of the DVDs. I bought seasons 1-5 when they were first produced, but I never got season 6. I just purchased the final season in the version that (I think) matches my set, and I realized I probably should have asked first—is this a good set? (Season one’s box is backward to show the company logo in the first photo.)

Many say it's the best released set, both in terms of quality and bonus features. I have the same set. I bought them from Ebay this year.

You have the first release edition with all the extras that are absent from the next release.
I can't believe that as popular as Xena series is, that we've yet to see a Blu-ray set. I'm not ever expecting to see a 4k release.....but we need a Blu-ray set, with the widescreen format that was used beginning with Ep3 S2.

Unfortunately Anchor Bay is the one that went out of their way to do all of the bonus content and interviews. They specialized in this type of stuff for home releases which is a testament to the quality of the bonus content. NBC doesn't really care which is sad.
I too would love to see Bluray/4k upscaled versions of these shows. I don't think we'll ever get this if more popular shows like Star Trek Voyager and DS9 haven't received this.
It is so sad to see great stuff get left in the dust. Buffy TVs as well.
The only possible hope is someone gets AI to a certain point and studio execs who own the rights to these properties would have an interest in upscaling them using said process and re-release. But it is just as likely that they hide these properties under their streaming service to draw subscribers.

NBC still has the season 5 & 6 16;9 copies, and they won’t release them. They did by accident for a short period with Netflix back in 2009/10, but when it was realized they’d done so they pulled them. They have them in their archives, teasing us all with their known existence..but making it legally impossible for us to ever see them again.
I don’t care what others may say..they were not stretched, and I did not notice the camera men in the wide shots lol. Actually in season five you can tell it was shot 16:9 bc in Them Bones, them bones, you can see how the actors suddenly look super skinny and squished bc the 16:9 wide shot was pressed into the 4:3 frame.
That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it!’

When you see some of the things coming out in blu ray and 4K its unforgivable we still don't have a Xena physical HD release (and a Herc one too). But i suspect the pesky tied up rights issues are still getting in the way.

I think Universal has the rights.
Even if not, a massive writing campaign to Universal Studios Home Video should at the very least, get some response from them.

Me and my wife have 2 sets of the complete 6 seasons. We each bought our own set before we got together so now we got double the awesomeness 😂

I don’t see a catalog. But season one does still have the commemorative coin in it, so that was a nice surprise.

I have these. Haven't watched them in ages though. I have Roku and watch the Xena channel instead 🤣

As much as I love behind-the-scenes extras, I do not have room on my shelf for all this.

Yes!! Looks like your first three weee the Best Buy variants too!!! I recently got the seasons 1 anchor bay box set and was confused by the purple banner, worried I’d gotten the wrong one, but turned out there are two versions of the anchor bay box sets and season 1 being notable bc only Best Buy variant of s1 has the bonus dvd in it. Kudos for getting it when first released!!
I also got the season 6 one recently as well and it also had the gift with purchase sticker still on it!!! For the win!!!!! Amazon? Mine had a weird Walmart retail sticker on it as well. I haven’t opened it, it feels like it should be in a museum!

In terms of bonus content, yes. The newer DVDs don't include any interviews, commentaries, etc.
