Discussion Seems like "just write" wasn't so true after all

• Upvotes

About a month ago I made this post. I was so excited that I finally wrote 500 words again, and posted about it for immediate online gratification. Ever since then, I have written perhaps 50 additional words.

So... I guess it's a lesson in not celebrating anything too early.

Discussion Ian Fleming's writing schedule

Has anyone seen this about how Ian Fleming sometimes wrote - https://www.reddit.com/r/HistoricalCapsule/s/gegDM4HLHS

I cannot imagine writing 2,000 words in a day. They'd be absolute dog shit. Obviously the first draft will always be terrible, but if I had to write that amount I'm not sure there'd be anything of value to edit.

That said, the snorkeling and gins between writing sessions sound rather nice...

It does make me curious as to how many reasonable words others can write in a day?

Discussion Magical realism and fantasy, where do they cross over?

I write both, though not high fantasy, and I wondered how close they are, in terms of describing your work? My magical realism is set in realistic, modern worlds whereas the fantasy involves world-building but is still realistic, or plausible in a real world.

I've been feeling like my genres are combining in my latest book but maybe they're just two sides of a similar genre?

Discussion It’s interesting to look back at a less experienced “you” and see how far you’ve come

This came about as I looked through my old posts and questions. In this server even. Now I would like to hear other people’s journey in the realm of noticing their own improvement. There’s something seriously intriguing about that.
If you were to look back at where writing maybe stumped you before, what would you say to yourself now?

I hope this post can also help give perspective for other people. Have a nice day or night! Peace ✌️
