So I have been farming shuffle for way top much lately and it truely brings worst out of me.
I started thinking why it triggers me so much compared to any other mode or game.
I am pretty sure that answer is volatility:
Let’s say you are 2.3k mmr healer. That is something around top 6% of ladder. In theory you can end up healing 2.6k lobby, which is top 2,5%… or 2k lobby, which is top 12% of ladder. Ok that is some 5x population shift (2,5%x5=12,5%). Now let’s say you have really bad streak and you end up losing close to maximum 240rating in 4x games, which can happen in one hour as healer. You just fell from 2,3k to 2060 rating in just one hour, on top of that you can now end up healing some 1760 rated lobby, which is top 25% on ladder.
That is absolutely insane and no any other game I have ever played has such a volatility. It’s about equal to falling from old duelist (top 3%) to old challenger(top 30%) In one hour… Ok, your rating doesn’t fall that much, but quality of games does.
This creates insanely frustrating environment, where quality of games go up and down so fast that it’s hard to predict anything in games.
Yday I had back to back games: first games I was only person in lobby without glad mount and next game I am explaining hunter that scatter and freeze trap are on same DR (he was rly thankful for advice). That is completely insane and this kind of volatility doesn’t happen in other games FOR A REASON. Usually it can take days to get past 5% of population even with solid winrate. 2s/3s at least used to be way more steady aswell (didn’t play for long time).
No wonder people take shuffle as clown fest, when you are no even playing with equal rated people.
