Discussion Struggling Authors: I'm UPSET!!

Hi all!

Today I found out the Sapphic author Chelsea M Cameron has to crowd fund just to pay her rent until November 16 or she'll lose housing.

October is almost done and she has only received 25% of what she needs to have a roof over her head!

If you wanna help, [🔗here's the link ](https://ko-fi.com/A356F63) .

And she is one of the relatively well known ones, I would think. I have bought her books, see her books being mentioned and recommended on Reddit, and so on.

She's not the only one! Other Sapphic authors had to crowd fund for medical bills, living expenses while unable to work, and on and on.

I follow Sapphic authors, hence I only explicitly know about them, but of course this problem affects all authors! Indeed, almost everyone!!

It makes me so angry that even moderately successful writers are one bad situation away from disaster while Amazon pays with their royalty payments rules, there is covert and overt suppression of Queer and indeed any 'subversive' content, Transaction processing companies penalize creators of adult works, while AI companies are generating trash taking eyes, mind share and money away from people.

There's no point to this other than venting. I feel so helpless and frustrated!

If you’re in the mood for a beautifully written tearjerker, this is it. But fair warning, there are LOTS of triggering topics in this one! Also, both MCs are married to men. The book is about their relationship and spans decades.

Discussion Queer Book Subscription Kickstarter

I found out about this Kickstarter, [🔗Queer The Shelves](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/qts/queer-the-shelves?ref=ksr_email_mktg_auto_user_followed_project_finishing).

Two people in UK are crowd funding to build a platform which will allow reading books as a subscription service, focusing exclusively on queer works, protecting them from the politics and vagaries of mainstream digital platforms.

Campaign closing in 2 days if anyone's interested.

I'm quite excited and hope they succeed!

What do you all think?

Discussion The Sapphic Backyard: a sapphic book club for young adults (17-25)

Hey gals and pals!

Would you like to join a small cozy server for reading sapphic books with other sapphics?

Each month, we pick a book and read it, then discuss it! Only sapphic books, mostly fiction & romance. However any genre can come up on the monthly vote. (For example, we read: "Hani & Ishu's guide to fake dating", "Last night at the telegraph club", "Like a power play", and many more).

We also have club movie nights every now and then!

This month we are reading "Sad Girl Hours".

If this sounds interesting to you and you would like to join, feel free to dm me!

Also, if you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments or dm.

See you there!<3

Seeking Recs Are there any books about a girl who likes to do erotic roleplay?

Post image

Picture is from Sadistic Beauty: Side Story A

Hey, do you know erotic roleplay? That thing where a couple acts out a specific fantasy to make sex more exciting?

Can you think of any books about a girl who likes to do erotic roleplay but is lacking a good partner to erotically roleplay with, only to later find one. Or alternatively a girl who is new to erotic roleplay and is being slowly ushered into it?

Seeking Recs Cosmic Horror but make it Sapphic

I've read a lot of the modern and older classics like the Southern Reach and A Roadside Picnic (avoiding the racist grandpa of the genre), and I have noticed a significant dearth of lesbians. Anyone able to help me out? Pretty open to any type of MC.

Seeking Recs Sapphic Books where the main character falls in love with a female historical figure?

Can you think of any sapphic books where the main character falls in love with a female historical figure? It can be any kind of scenario, alternate history, time travel, reincarnation, it can be two historical figures falling for each other, or one falling for an original character, as long as there is an historical figure who is in a sapphic romance.

Recommendation Sapphic characters over 50

This week’s Sapphic Book Bingo category features books with sapphic main characters over 50.

In many sapphic books (and books in general), the characters are in their 20s and 30s, but sapphic joy and love doesn’t have an age limit, so I made "characters over 50" one of the categories in this year's reading challenge.

You'll find a few book recommendations on my website:

Seeking Recs Kind of curious about age gap romances.

I read the first book in the series that was basically The Devil Wears Prada’s Miranda and Andy (with changes of course). I enjoyed it way more than I thought and will eventually finish the second book.

I don’t read fantasy but am open to contemporary romance. Smut is ok and welcome.

What's That Book? PopstarXcomposer/landscaper (more details in body) Help please!

Can anyone help me identify this book and/or author? As you can see I remember many details but not the ones I need to look it up! Driving me insane!

What I remember:

One MC is pop star who after a live-streamed failed proposal runs away to her beach house. She is famous but misses her roots and the freedoms of being less well known (like not having to do things only for sales). Burnt out.

The other MC is living at home after mental health issues caused her to drop out of college for musical composition. Composing is still sometimes triggering for her. Parents worry.

Her mom owns a landscaping company and she starts working there. She has an autistic brother who is also musical. When walking in the beach with her brother he ends up wondering into the pop star’s house and starts playing her piano. That’s how they meet.

Then the pop-star hires the mom’s landscaping
company to work at her house. Composer is assigned to her and her brother even helps with the tile pattern of the walkway. The MCs end up making music and an album together.

The composer’s family is super loving and even invites pop-star to the large family gathering in the park (includes a bonfire with singing around it).

The composer is named after her famous grandfather (or some other older relative) who was also a composer.

Any hint would be appreciated! Thanks!
