We absolutely LOVE our Miss Pixi, but she’s going to be the death of me! I know our previous WFT had a puppy stage where he grabbed things in the yard and ran, but she’s taking it to another level!
Last weekend we had a mushroom incident - thank goodness for some wonderful redditor who recommended a facebook page that has members who can identify poisonous plants and mushrooms - she’s okay and it wasn’t a bad one. But holy cow, she grabs anything and everything in the backyard!
Now she’s not allowed to run about off leash. She’s too short and too fast, and by the time either of us bends to grab her, she’s long gone with whatever is in her mouth. I’m training her to trade for a treat, but I think she’s caught on and grabs things do she can get the trade-in treat.
Pixi is 9mo - when will this stop?!?! Does anyone have a tried and true training tip?
Our first WFT learned ‘drop it when I threw a can of pebbles as he ran with a bird in his mouth. It landed about 6’ from him, about a second after I yelled DROP IT. Ever after, he promptly dropped whatever he had when I hollered those magic words. Pixi is unfazed.

Could be an advert for dog toothpaste.
While you are all here - how tall is your pup and how much do they weigh?
Mine is tall (42cm) and 9.8kg vet says he is healthy but seems BIG for a fox terrier. Neutered and KC registered so I know he is full WFT. Just a tall boy lol

The “ding” in his leg is where he got shaved for a canula about a month or so ago. It was his first professional groom aged 3 and I’m advised he was very well behaved. Proud momma 🥹
And second bath of the day having rolled in poo only this morning… sigh

Hi everyone - I'm excited to share that American Fox Terrier Rescue (a 501(c)(3) rescue) has put together a calendar featuring some of our wonderful rescue dogs. Every calendar sold helps cover the foster and veterinary care that make these rescues possible, and it also helps spread the word about our work so more people know where to turn when a Fox Terrier needs help.
Calendars are $20 each and will ship December 1, just in time for holiday giving. Preorders are open now at https://www.yearbox.com/aftr/. Thank you for supporting our Terriorists!

AKA Bumble, AKA Bibi... will be coming home with us in just a little over a month! We just lost our previous dog last month and the house feels so empty without her. She was 16 years old, so we'd been in the senior phase for quite some time (she was also another breed). Looking forward to all the fun and shenanigans this little girl will bring to our lives! 😄 We have never had a Fox, but have had other terriers, so we know we're in for a wild ride! 😂

This was our first dog, think we chose wisely. We had such fun with him as he was full of charm and character. We lost him at eight to kidney cancer, just months before losing my wife to breast cancer. We’d spoken that Wilson and me were to head of in the motorhome when my wife died as we all loved being in it, but it just didn’t work out.

Miss Pixi likes to make sure I can’t leave while she’s sleeping. At our house we call this ‘a bad case of FTP’ (Fox Terrier Problem)…😂🤣😉
She’s 9mo today!

Sarge is our 8yo WFT. When I first put up the curtains it was frustrated that he couldn't look out (which was the plan) but he figured out soon enough. Now he can see who's walking by and know who he's going to bark at!

I know this has been covered before but when does the first heat happen after puppy stage and how soon after she has it do you schedule the appointment for spaying? “She”meaning Cecelia Ann. Sister of fellow redditor’s Scout.
She is 13 weeks today!!
