mod post We Built a Better Way to Find Movies (and Reward Great Reviewers)

We built a new web app that helps you find the movie or TV show you are looking for: WhatFlik - https://whatflik.com

Describe whatever you remember in your own words, in any language, and WhatFlik searches movie and TV data from TMDB and other sources to rank the most likely matches. In our current testing, text search finds the correct title roughly 75% to 80% of the time. Pro users can also upload a screenshot to help identify a movie, show, or episode.

WhatFlik is more than a search tool.

We are building a movie and TV community where people can write reviews, share opinions, follow people whose taste they trust, make friends, chat privately, and tip great reviewers directly. Reviewers will also be able to earn from a membership-funded creator pool as the platform grows.

Our mission is to build something more useful, social, and rewarding than traditional movie-rating platforms like Letterboxd.

Create a free account to reveal full search results, save searches, post reviews, follow people, and join the community. Google sign-in is securely handled through Firebase, so WhatFlik never receives or stores your Google password.

The platform is still early, and we want honest feedback on the search, community, and overall experience.

found Antagonist in the end fighting off creatures

I saw this one movie as a kid but I barely remember anything. All I remember is the main character and the antagonist fighting and the antagonist ends up trapped in another dimension which I'm assuming is hell. In the ending, it shows the antagonist on some kind of hill (If i remember correctly) doing like a battle cry and then punching/fighting off demons or creatures approaching him as the camera zooms out

searching Guy gets cut in half

As a kid in either the late 70s or early 80s I saw on TV in California (broadcast, we didn’t have cable) a show or movie or short where a guy is in a downtown of a city and some thugs catch him and hold him against a building and use a machete or something to cut him in half horizontally at the waist. Then they carry each half of him (he’s still alive!) to some grassy field and put him there. He lays there and remembers stuff about his life for some moments. I don’t remember anything else about it. Really bothered me as a kid.

And obviously I have NEVER been able to find out what it was!

found Looking for a movie based on this vague explanation

FOUND: "THE HUGGA BUNCH"

I feel like I am going insane and that I am making this movie up. Since I was in 7th grade I kept thinking about this movie I once watched as a child, and at least once a year it pops into my head and for a week straight I go insane and cannot seem to find it.

I was a 2000's baby, but my babysitter would always show us movies from like the 80s/90s/early 2000s

I don't remember much, but this is my vague description:

The opening scene, or maybe a couple scenes into the movie (or show?) these 2 little creatures, they are colorful and small (every time I think about them I think maybe they were care bears? but I don't think so) and they are hiding in hats on a hat rack (there are a bunch of hats) in this boys room. These creatures are animated. But the room, hats, door, everything else is real. The door closes (someone left the room) and the little creatures appear from out of the hats.

Next thing I remember is that they are in the ceiling or attic looking down at the humans (I think they were eating dinner) and they are trying to hide from them/escape to their world to go on an adventure.

Next thing I remember, the two creatures are on a street (I don't know if this is animated or real but the creatures are still animated) and they are now scaling a wall slowly moving down it (idk if it was a road but I remember them scaling a wall and the drop off was steep). Then, they go into a dungeon, and that dungeon has a monster in it. I think they were trying to save two creatures from the monster, but I can't say that for sure.

That is ALL I remember. I have used every AI website, I have asked so many of my friends, and only one of them said she remembers this movie. PLEASE help me. I don't think I made this movie (OR episode of a show) up. I am 100% sure that this exists.

Thanks guys!

searching Poisoning (?) scene from a 90s TV movie

I have this memory of catching a part of a random movie on TV in the mid-90s when I would’ve been around 6 or 7

The scene centers on A Guy, who gets up from a living room/den where he had been with another individual (perhaps his elderly wife, perhaps another old person who was in his care), and he goes into the kitchen, and (I think) begins mixing up pills or powder or something into orange juice to poison the other person with, before a 3rd individual enters and confronts him about it

I vividly remember:

the kitchen being a completely separate room from the living room, this wasn’t a sitcom set or an apartment where the characters would have remained in view of each other between the living room/kitchen. The kitchen had either glass windows or wooden shutters separating it from the room/hallway he had entered from

textured glass and pale yellow light, either the glasses he was mixing the drink in, or some other fixture in the kitchen, but the whole scene was pretty dimly lit

I was too young to understand anything going on, but the scene started to get very tense, like he was frantically trying to mix up this concoction, and I’m pretty sure the 3rd individual who confronted him was a woman, and she kind of “cornered” him since his back was to the kitchen door when she appeared

Any leads appreciated - thanks!

Edit: it’s possible that poison wasn’t involved at all, and I was too young to understand the idea of alcohol or painkillers, etc - so my 6-7 year old brain just figured any illicit-seeming substance would have been “poison”

Whether The Guy was stealing away to the kitchen to frantically make a drink for himself or mix something up for someone else, whatever it was, it was the main source of tension / he was trying to get away with something, before he was confronted

But the entire scene was very dark/claustrophobic and took place within the confines of this kitchen, which had its own interior window/wooden shutters/wooden screen/partition that the character had to enter into. Close-up shots of the glass and the drink which I recall being orange/yellow like orange juice, or maybe the kitchen had textured / frosted windows as well

I would have been watching this on TV around 1995 or 1996

Trying to track down the name of a movie from ages ago, the only thing I remember about the movie is there were a couple/few friends that were sort of the outcasts of the school, there's a scene where one of them gets into a fight with a bully, tells the bully to eat shit, said bully puts kids face in a pile of dog shit, cut forward to the next scene and one of them has a revolver in his backpack. I remember my teacher rented it from Blockbuster, shortly after the tragedy at Columbine, it was meant to be a lesson against bullying and violence, but once that gun appeared on screen, the movie went off.

The movie is Sticks & Stones (1996)

found Thai (?) movie about wives killing their husbands

I think it came out around 2000, the time where East Asian movies made quite an impression about original film making.

It’s set up in an apartment block where a wive kills her husband. Her neighbour friend finds out and kills her husband too (I think both men treated them like shit). It’s portrayed more as a liberation than a cold blooded murder.

More and more women start to kill their husbands. It gets quite gory in the scenes when they have to get rid of bodies.

Sounds grim, but I think that movie was quite light hearted, nearly a comedy.

Anyone got an idea how it’s called?

found Movie where teenagers refuse to swear to god as a joke and get called communists?

So I think this movie takes place in the fifties or sixties. I think it might have been about a group of Jewish teenagers like a coming of age story? The scene I recall is in a courtroom. One of the teens is testifying and the Court asks him to swear his oath to tell the truth on the Bible. But with his friends in the gallery egging him on, the teen responds, "No." The whole courtroom is aghast. Then a woman in the gallery stands up and start screaming, "COMMUNIST! COMMUNIST! HE'S A COMMUNIST!" His friends all start snickering in the courtroom over their friend's misfortune.

Anyone seen this?

searching Looking for a movie based on dialogue I remember

Ok so I was just day-dreaming today and remembered a dialogue exchange from a movie/series/game (perhaps), that Ive seen but cant remember what it is from. Its something like:

Char1: What could be a stronger feeling than love?
Char2: Grief

First I thought it might be from the game Life is Strange: Before the storm, because grief is a big central point of that game, doesnt seem like it is, I kind of feel like whatever its from is animated but I might be wrong. I was also thinking maybe Avatar the Last Airbender since I rewatched that recently, but I dont think I remember it being there.

I know its not much to go off, but anyone have any idea?

A made for tv movie in the mid 90s where a little boy falls asleep with a toy train with a rope attached. The rope wraps around his neck and chokes him to death (accident not supernatural).

Me and all my siblings saw this movie when we were kids and now as parents we have all banned pretty much anything that could pose this kind of danger.

searching Apocalypse Movie Name

I'm looking for a movie from between 2017-2022 maybe that reminds me of the Purge, the world has ended and people have gone completely rogue. There is one scene in the movie where one girl is getting shit-faced drunk inside a house/cabin while listening to loud music, dancing, then just blacking out/falling asleep in the bed. I think this girl is going through some sort of divorce or dramatic point of life. Whatever.

Outside there another woman, a brunette I think, that watches her karate-high and smiles/laughs then just moves on. I think she planned on looting the house or something originally.

In the end there is a shootout in a block of rich-people's houses, if I remember correctly.

A lot of the movie takes place on the road from what I can remember. Like some people/enemies are standing on top of "signs" sniping incoming drivers etc.

It's probably a pretty known movie and I am sorry if I am being completely retarded googleing. But I can't fuckin' find it and turned to reddit for help.

Thanks on forehand.

found There was movie probably made in the 90s or early 2000s. There were two kids, one regular boy and heavy set girl. They were making an airplane. They got into a fight and the girl finished the plane on her own. I think it's the final scene, the girl flying the plane crashes it.

I don't remember much about the movie. I most likely watched it before I was a teenager, so sometime before 2010, and it felt like it was a little older.

The two kids are friends, who build an airplane. The heavy girl makes a mistake on cutting the fabric of the wing and it leads to a huge fight between them. The boy leaves and she takes the pieces of the plane and fixes the wing.

I think it's the final shot of the movie, the girl is finally flying the plane but it quickly crashes.

(Movie is called John John on the sky.)

searching Old movie, two girls kill their mother in the woods

When I say old, it must be around 25 or more years old.

The mum was very abusive.

The bit I remember is the two girls kill the mum, they drop a coloured stone in the woods and she finds it and then they club her to death.

A bit of a long shot as that's all I can remember.

searching Asian horror movie where a developmentally disabled man eats food left as an offering at a shrine, angering the spirits being worshiped there.

I rented this from Netflix back when they mailed out DVDs. Unsure of when it was produced, but I watched it in the 2010s. Was live action, in color, and had English subtitles.

A young woman (mother? sister? aunt?) is caring for her developmentally disabled son or brother who appears to be in his late teens or early twenties. There is a shrine on the street outside the building that the live in. The son/brother eats some of the food left at the shrine. Spirits/demons then start attacking them.

searching Help me identify an old disturbing movie based on a few scenes I remember , ive been searching almost a year

I'm trying to find the name of an old movie I watched a long time ago since i was a child, but I only remember a few scenes.

Here's what I remember:

- There was a scene with a woman stripping or dancing in the dark, wearing black clothes. A deep male voice was talking in the background, possibly narrating.

- I vaguely remember a scene involving a thief, either a man or a woman, who sexually assaulted someone. I'm not completely sure about the details.

- The most disturbing scene I remember involved two women cutting off a man's penis, cooking it, and eating it.

I'm not sure about the exact release year, language, or country of origin, but it seemed like an older movie.

I know these details sound strange, but they're the only scenes I can remember. Does anyone recognize the movie?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Movie was foreign language. Watched it on world movies back in like 2010-2015 I think ? It was about a man who was uncovering a mystery I think he might have been an author. In one scene he's crawling around in an attic and discovers a peephole looking down into his friends room she's naked. And it's a real creepy reveal

searching Help me find a 2000s sci-fi/horror/adventure movie with the stream of blood arena scene

I was previously searching for this movie and confused with another movie which I found as Army of Darkness but not this one.

In the beginning guy or a group of people(maybe not in opening scene but in first 20-25 minutes) wound up in arena/colosseum and in the scene there was a flowing stream of blood. Literally, like a lot of blood poured down or something.

Fighting creatures/monsters may or may have not been involved(I don't remember much than a stream of blood in arena scene, sorry)

Should be a well known movie with a decent or higher budget. I belive it has at least several 10-thousand votes on IMDB. I've probably seen it circa 2005-2007, shouldn't be newer than 2008, and probably isn't from 90s, my best bet would be mid-2000s, then early 2000s

It is not Arena 2011 or again, anything newer than 2008

Thanks

edit:

I think movie went something like this:In the opening scene a group of people engaged in a conversation before going to a battle with creatures/supernatural beings and somewhere in the battle those beings poured down a ton of blood. The rest is blank. Perhaps the blood scene could be in a battleground setting rather than in arena/colosseum

searching Can't find this scene

I remember a long time ago I saw a scene from a movie or TV show that was live action and it was this girl that had green juice or a green shake and once she drank it jumped onto a kitchen table and said something and then a man said "youre a monster" i also think they were talking the whole time the scene was playing out and they were around their 20s to 30s both the man and woman.
