Discussion 💬 Is this real?

Post image

On Apple Watch Ultra 4 review video I found this comment and I am hoping it is true. I know there are many others frustrated with the AWU4 issue regarding over/underestimating distance, not because of poor gps but because of Apple’s smoothing algorithm.

Can anyone confirm that this comment is for real? Has the distance issue been resolved?

It’s improved but not fully fixed.
The inaccuracy has gone from ~2-3% out to about 1%

Thanks for the feedback. Do you know when the public release for this update is?

Probably today or tomorrow. The final build version may also change again so we could see further improvements on the two RC versions.

I hope so! The GPS seems to be fine when checking GPX file. I’m finding it’s always counting Ks early after the first 2km. I did a 10km race yesterday, so measured course GPX was bang on 10k after pulling from Strava and checking. However Workout recorded as 10.24km so called 10km well early! Pissing me off, all other runs are like this 30-240m out depending on length of run.

I’m seeing the same. Shorter distances seem ok but 5k and above is inaccurate. The inaccuracy amount has dropped in RC 1/2 though but still about 1% out, which is still a lot compared to watchOS 26 where it was accurate to within 1 meter.

Update: A lot better for me now on 27.2. Workout app 10.17k this morning, uploaded to Strava and Strava put it as 10.18k checked GPX file and was 10.18k. So pretty much spot on now!!

Has the issue with Recovery HRV been fixed?
