Might be our best rookie since steph, klay, and dray

He’s better than rookie Klay and dray for sure. Do you not remember Klay ups?

I’m more speaking about potential career rather than immediate impact. Not willing to put him on their level yet till we get some more run out of him. But in terms of immediate impact, he’s got a chance to match or beat Steph’s rookie season for sure depending on how he builds on this hot start

Again with the pointless comparison, podz was drafted like what 13-15? How many rookies became a consistent contributor in that range? Yaxel fell off the lottery not because of his talent but his age he can easily be a top 5 pick if he was younger.

12/13 free throwing. With how much he gets fouled, that’s basically free points

The Luka stopper 💪

It will be interesting to see how his game adapts to changes in teams’ scouting reports. Things are looking really promising so far though.

The question is how are teams going to game plan for him though? He has a very impressive handle at his size and withstands ball pressure very well from similar size defenders and even smaller pesky defenders. He's a pretty damn good spot up three-point shooter and it's not like he is going to fall in love with off the dribble shots either. And if they tried to collapse on him when he drives, well, defenders are already doing that by instinct and considering how incredible he is at garnering contact: those are free points at the line. do maybe try to guard him straight up? Force him to the middle? He's got a huge body and is strong as hell tho. He's just gonna get more into a floater range and if anybody peels off to help he's giving it to the open man. His weakness isn't on offense. It's more on defense.

He’ll be mentored by Steph, Dray, and Jimmy so I feel pretty optimistic

His ROTY odds just jumped from 15 to 36 on Umderdog. Now #1.

He and will are good friends for sure

His +/- is even more impressive given how much he played without Steph.

Imagine if he didn’t go 1-8 from 3. Holy.

Honestly was Steph this good his rookie year? I personally don’t think so.

I remember Steph was putting up numbers and constantly getting put in those “hasn’t been done since” stats all the time, and the names would always be MJ/Kobe/other greats.

Pace of play/three point shot volume wasn’t nearly as high as it is now either. Tyreke Evans winning ROTY is hilarious now but it wasn’t even that controversial to us as Warriors fans at the time. He also didn’t have his own Steph/Draymond around him either.

All that being said I’m hoping you’re right lmao, He looks incredible.

ROTY was between Steph and Tyreke.

Regardless, Monte was still tryna get his and hating on Steph on the low so imagine almost getting ROTY with someone actively tryna down play you?

Steph and Dray doing the opposite for Yaxel. They encourage him, mentor him, and also Yax in a spot where the team needs him to play big minutes because so many players are injured.

So Yax in a pretty unique spot and could take ROTY if he continues to play his cards right.

The guy is 24 though

Even if he never gets better from here, a guy who can get us 31 and 12 is a massive hit on the draft pick.

No doubt, just not a good stepping comparison is all.
