Well, I wasn’t informed basically all of season would be closed off 2 hours before my shift ended. Time to pretend to look busy for 2 hours!

Why are people rushing Walmart doors at opening?

I saw a group of people eagerly rushing the watch department.

I’m assuming they’re resellers?

Managers who act like it's the end of the world when associates have one little conversation

I'm someone who loves socializing and I'm a really good conservationist. Honestly if I didn't hate being stuck in one spot all day. I'd make a great cashier probably, but alas I need movement. I work in deli/bakery and lately my managers and leads have been on me about talking too much. Like the other day I had already packed a bunch of bread. The tables were literally full so I'm printing out labels and sell-bys. While I'm waiting on the portable printer to finish loading because I just put the battery in since it had to charge. I'm talking with two of my other coworkers mind you I didn't start the conservation. I'm just grabbing labels so I can put the bread that needs to go out on the floor.

A lead comes by and makes a remark about everytime she sees me. I'm always talking to someone and I'm a little annoyed by it. Like dang if I walk around in silence all day. Y'all think something is wrong with me and will constantly ask me if I'm okay. But when I'm talking and having a good time its a problem. She mentions to me the cameras are watching, and it's like I know and I don't care because I do my work.

I do my job and I do it well. Having a five second conservation with my coworker whenever they pass by isn't hurting my production. I have been getting off late these past couple of days, but that's because we have been running out of bread in the freezer. And the truck brings the bread late so the past two days in the roll. The person doing the break out has had to do a whole bunch of extra racks of bread.

I'm responsible for doing the whole CVP for the bakery area while baking the bread. Packing the bread and making toast which can take a while because we are expected to slice all French and Italian bread instead of marketing it down to turn it into toast as well as what is already sliced, pack, slice, make garlic bread, and stock the bread all by myself. I have to take care of the disposed stuff also before I leave, and clean my area. That's a lot on one person and it's rare that someone comes to help me. Heck they will sometimes stop me to go and do other stuff talking about we are a team. But hardly anyone comes to help me when its obvious I'm not going to finish on time.

The only two times I've gotten help in the past month was when we had visitors, and the manager needed the floor stocked fast. The second time I was scheduled to leave at 10am, and the store manager told my manager that no one was allowed to stay late that day. So she had to let me go at 10 and couldn't extend my shift to 1 like she usually did. So someone else was going to have to finish packing regardless.

I just got notice that all my shifts, including tomorrow, have been modified. I checked the app and all of my schedule is gone. Is it a glitch? Has this happened to anyone else tonight?

Goodbye Walmart. I honestly didn’t hate it

• Upvotes

I might have an unpopular opinion but after 2 years at walmart I did enjoy my time. I went from Cap 2 to Hard Lines to Cap 1. Maybe it was because my teams were great to work with

I actually did enjoy working with customers.

But sadly i need more money. Walmart for me was good until pay day. And my next job is going to be worse but there’s more pay.

I really did enjoy my time.

Grand Opening

Grand opening is in 2 weeks, our SM is being really anal about every little detail but very unrealistic with their expectations as I have no associates as a grocery TL with a ridiculous amount of Thanksgiving features rolling in. My features currently look great, but my sidecounters need desperate attention (fixing) after the remodel crew. Just trying to gauge how "perfect" everyones Grand opening went? Was everything perfect for you?

Who does your 97? Cap one used to do ours and then it got shifted over to meat, so caps not responsible for it anymore. Just wondering if that’s a new thing or just my store.

Self check hosts who won't work a cash register

Neighborhood Market. Our self check hosts really don't want to run a cash register when they're needed.

We have self check hosts who are required help at the cash registers. It's a small store so everyone has to help cover the registers for lunches and busy times. This one self check host was actually hired to run a register, but she didn't want to do it. She only works self check these days. The associate will help out some, but she leaves to go back to self check as soon as she can.

This associate rang up a customer who had a large order. When she started on a new transaction, she said, "Oh crap! That other lady didn't get all her stuff. I went to all that trouble scanning and bagging and she didn't bother to get all her stuff." The supervisor was right there telling her that it's her job to make sure the customers leave with all the groceries. The associate said, "We ain't got to do all that at self check out. If they leave stuff, it's not our problem" The supervisor told her to spin that carousel and make sure they leave with all their items. Because it was really busy, the supervisor didn't do or say anything more. Talking about being insubordinate and rude! That associate was being super rude.

I'm just saying that it's unbelievably inconsiderate to blame the customer at the register. Are the customers supposed to spin the carousel? What if another order is already being scanned and bagged? I think that associate is rude and entitled and I'm going to open door this complaint.

Thank you for listening to my vent. Still really pissed about that associate's self centered lazy behavior.

New front end associate 1 week official now

Hi, Its officially been a week since I have started at Walmart as a front end associate. It took me a few hours to complete orientation and 2 days to complete all of the ulearns. I have been on the floor shadowing now for 4 days. I feel like I have most of it down like saying hi and smiling to customers checking out. Asking if they would like a bag or help bagging their own bags. I've memorized the acronyms like bob Lisa Mitch, and made a new acronym O-LINE (once locked in no exchanges), this is for remembering to never fall for cash scams once transactions have been processed. I've gotten better at looking as per the acronyms on carts, but I still struggle about sorting merchandise into bags and bagging correctly. Do you have any advice for this? I understand that we separate cleaning and soaps from food items, and we have wet food and dry food. Any tips would be much appreciated. :)

Stepping down

I've been a cake decorator for a few years now. I'm the second decorator, so my job is mostly to do the freight and help where needed. I barely get to decorate these days. The other decorators middle name is drama. I'm never doing enough, according to them, while they do less than the bare minimum. When I was doing more, they still found something to complain about so now I just make sure I clean up after myself and make sure orders are finished instead of going around and tidying up what they didn't bother doing. I have my faults, and I own up to them. Sometimes, I'm in a rush because I'm trying to get out on time, so some things aren't always finished cleaning wise. I don't drive, and I don't want the person picking me up to wait longer. I make sure I check the time to manage things, but then you have a customer take ten minutes or more with their order and end up being late, ya know?

But anyway. Because of all that, I'm thinking about giving back the decorator title. I don't know if I could just stay a bakery associate, but if so, I'd only write on cakes or take orders, and that's it. I'm sick of anxiety every time the other decorator is there because I never know what the mood will be or what I did or didn't do this time. I just want to work to keep a roof over my head.

Does anybody have advice?

Managers don't seem too concerned about any of it when I have brought it up, so I just stopped saying anything.

Warehouse Entertainment

Hi I recently got hired at one of the Walmart central fill facilities and I’m looking to see if anyone has any ideas of anything small I can take with me to keep me entertained during my shift. Think like fidget toy, pocket sized entertainment. I have 10 hr shifts monitoring the robots all night and we’re not supposed to use our phones. I considered a book but looking for something that will keep my hands busy. TIA!

Anyone here in the beauty expert role?

Today I learned my store will be merging cosmetics with apparel and hiring ‘beauty experts’ next year. I’ve been a full-time hba/cosmetics associate for 3 years now and I’m very interested. I can’t find much info about the position online. Can anyone in this role tell me more about it? The hiring process/training, pay percentage increase, schedule, any new job requirements and what a typical day consists of? No one at my store has many answers yet and I’m just curious. Tia!

1st week Food & Consumables TA Help?

Seem to always be juggling over pallets just to Vizpick off the shelf, move a pallet just for the back workers to fill the spot; yet Coach’s & ON TL’s keep asking why certain bins aren’t picked?

Usually work 3pm-10 weekdays, or 11am-10 on weekends.

Any suggestions? Lately been restacking each pallet & shuffling it to one side of the pallet depending what Bin I need to access.

In mean time i’ve been topstocking, zoning, just seem to always fight when it comes to moving pallets because I’ll move it, & someone will pull something off the floor to replace it.

Seems like from 4pm & later it is only me on the roster. No other Ta’s or any TL’s. Just a coach, & i’m stuck handling Infants, Dairy, Frozen( Reefer trailer, walk-in broke. ) Food, Candy, Health ( Gummies, Medicine, Diapers, Soap, Shampoo/Conditioner, etc ), Beauty, Automotive, Electronics, Pets, toiletries, Toys/Drawing, Camping, Hunting/Sporting, Unlocking all the cases for customers, literally only me & the only department I do not handle is “Crafts & the birthday card section “ yet I am suppose to always be rotating pallets that magically keep reappearing when I move them 🫣

& it seems like half, if not most of the items that are on the shelfs, covered by pallets, are already “scanned/picked” on vizpick ( Health report says was scanned/seen ), so someone prior to me mustve already, scanned, picked them, and just left them buried on the shelf, waiting for someone else ( me ) to move & pick everything, transferring it to the floor.

I honestly don’t mind doing any of it, or even all of it.

I just don’t want everyone to expect it everyday & hand it off to me, if it’s what their role is dedicated towards.

This is a second job, I work 40 hours as a CDL Driver, then come here full time, so obviously don’t need this little of pay, just hate sitting home & would rather be out making money or doing something.

But if F&C TA is required to do all of this, does anyone have any suggestions on an efficient or quick way?

I strive to do my best & not get points any job I work.

Any tips or suggestions appreciated.

Step Count for Cashier?

I’ve noticed that my step count is well over 5,000 steps. I’m a cashier. The most I walk is to the back for my break. Is my Apple Watch mistaking my arm movement for steps?

Maine maternity and parental leave with new state of Maine paid leave

I'm looking for anyone else who's from Maine and has had to use the new state leave program and also Sedgwick. Could you tell me if we still get the 16 weeks paid or if it's now just the 12 weeks with the new leave program? My HR wasn't very helpful with this new program and how to navigate it, and when I asked Sedgwick on messenger they didn't give me a clear answer if I'm still supposed to get 16 weeks paid or not. Thanks for any knowledge and feedback.

LivebetterU & Guild

I’m working with walmart for 2 years now. I have a bachelor’s degree from outside of USA. When I tried to apply for a degree program through livebetter U, I set up an account with workforce edge and a success coach contacted me. He said my bachelor’s degree isn’t even going to be equivalent for high school degree here. So he made me sign up for a course pathway from sophia. I just want to know is it normal? Or I could directly apply from Guild page as my degree is from internationally accredited institution and my alma maters are enrolling in graduate degrees in USA all the time. Then why can’t I even enroll for a bachelor studies? Please let me know if anyone has any idea. Thanks in advance.

Fitness pass

I recently got the walmart pass for Anytime Fitness in location 1 (let’s call it that). If I make location 1 my home club but then start going to location 2 more and more would that be okay? I heard something about it changing to my home club but I think that’s for regular members not walmart pass people right?
