Not that you’d ever move through house tracks that fast but wanted to test myself, think I can probably get it down a little faster lol. Also not sure about you all but I love the sound of the beats coming together. I heard a DJ playing this weekend probably using sync the whole time and there was like no signature to his mixes it was really bland.

I usually practice at home with headphones on and am pretty happy with my abilities. However I went to a friends house yesterday for a jam and I couldn't hear any detail on the tunes and it was a bit of a mess at times, I think with hindsight he had a massive PA blasting into our faces and it was just all too loud. Is this something you need to just learn how to handle? Is this what DJs in club settings are able to deal with?

I tried to just mix in my headphones (HD25s) but it was still super hard to make out any detail without turning up the earphones to dangerous levels.

Any advice for these situations? Other than just turn the PA down?

Edit to add: in addition his mixer didn't have a Cue EQ function or split cue, which are things I usually really upon. I just had a play with my Loops earplugs under my HD25s and that actually tidies up a alot of the bass 'BOOM' which makes beat matching harder sometimes.

I hope you like the elegant darkness of english nuskool breaks:

Hey everyone, new to the Reddit community and happy to join the r/vinyldjs group. I'm sharing a live vinyl DJ set recorded in my living room, featuring some classic deep house and minimal techno tracks from labels like Playhouse, Studio One, and Perlon. Let me know what you think of the selection. It's not a perfect mix, but I hope you enjoy the analog vibes.

Working on a private practice space in Brooklyn for the community. Just had this custom booth built and installed. Custom sound is coming next 😎

Recently updated my decks from MK5 trough Black Gold M7G 55th Anniversary EDT to 1210 GR2 and I think they are keepers ⚫️🎛️⚫️

For a while I had M7G but sold them as it was to gold for my liking.

Those GR2 are really nice.

I saw an old post on here and some dude linked some DJ tech tools blog post about how to upgrade your Ikea Kallax Shelf into a DJ booth and since I just moved into a new apartment I thought it was time for a nice upgrade. I plan to build stands onto the tabletop to elevate the speakers eventually. Also probably will get some LED strip lights to make it look cooler overall lol. So far I'm really happy with this and can't wait to host some friends at my place

Looks like a tougher version to position itself above MK7

Hey vinyldjs, obviously a lot of dance music aficionados in this group - thought I'd share something I posted this morning, records I discovered at a sale last week - a variety of different genres, from DnB to prog house and breakbeat. Many didn't have clips online.

Hoped there might be something someone discovers for their next set, or it sends someone down a Discogs hole to find something they might share in return.

Cheers!

Have been DJing vinyl for a couple of years and have made good progress. I’m playing out in a month or so and want to play a mostly vinyl set.

The issue I have when I listen back to my mixes is that I find that I’m constantly having to make adjustments when in the mix (more than I would say is normal / necessary) and sometimes just clanging.

I feel I know the answer to this (practise more) but wondered if anyone had any tips / techniques / practise exercises for cleaning up my mixing on turntables.
