Politics Columbian doxxes trans child

• Upvotes

Im not going to repost the article. Im just going to ask anyone with a shred of empathy to reach out to the Columbian and let them know that what they did has caused harm. John braun is currently using this reveal to further his campaign of hatred, and the result has been harassment and threats of violence and death for this child and their family.

Discussion Want more and better parks and trails in Clark County? Take the County Parks system plan survey before Nov. 1!

Thumbnail clark.wa.gov
50 Upvotes

Clark County is updating their 20 year parks system plan which will enshrine the community’s priorities into actionable framework for improvements.

Public feedback about priorities —> written into plan —> what’s in the plan used as roadmap for improvements.

Want better or more trails?

Access to natural areas and bodies of water?

A county owned old growth forest?

Off leash dog parks?

Better park amenities like restrooms?

While parks updates are subject to budget constraints and capital improvement plans, what the public says they want for our parks, trails, and open spaces will be used to write the system plan, which will then be used as guidance for county wide projects and improvements. (If it’s in the plan, it will be easier to make happen once the money to do it is available)

Clark County has rich environmental and recreational resources and our communities are healthier when folks have access to nature and parks. That’s why your input is needed!!!

Take the survey by Nov 1.!

Politics The Columbian’s recommendations recapped

I'm a little concerned about posting their articles here. But I think that a this excerpt of the article on their endorsements is probably acceptable. For each of their recommendations they've usually posted a short paragraph on the reasoning behind it. You can find those on their website.

Original text here. You may need a subscription to see it.

The Editorial Board suggests that ballots should be dropped into an official, secure drop box managed by the Clark County Elections Office or dropped off in person at the elections office.

To assist with that process, The Columbian has provided news coverage of numerous local races. Meanwhile, the Editorial Board has interviewed dozens of candidates, providing unedited videos of the interviews and recommendations designed to inform the public.

BestAround? Locally owned stores?

I bought an amazing blanket online years ago, and I'd love to get something similar as a Christmas gift for my brother.

It's a cooling blanket.

The fabric wicks the heat from your body and keeps you cool.

I'd prefer to spend my money locally if anyone knows a local business.

Police Activity FYI to anybody near the mall tomorrow morning.

There will be an active shooter drill at the mall tomorrow morning. That’s what’s going on if you see a huge emergency services presence.

I’m sure this won’t alleviate all the “what’s going on at the mall?” Posts but maybe there will only be 10 instead of 30.

Question? Which markets sell stewed prunes?

Which markets sell stewed prunes? I want to add more fiber to my diet without using supplements (and I can’t stand the taste/smell of psyllium), plus prunes have good vitamins and minerals. However, I can’t stand dried prunes, but prunes in juice are easy to eat. I haven’t found them in Fred Meyer or New Seasons, though.

Discussion Weird experience at Rocky Horror last night, 10/24

We went to the Kiggins for Rocky Horror last night and one of the guys in the crowd added the F-slur to several of his callbacks, of course he was the loudest person in the room. As far as I saw no one did anything aside from some other audience members being uncomfortable. Everyone in my group has been many times and never encountered something like this and it made us all deeply uncomfortable. I love the Kiggins and the Delinquents but this experience was pretty off-putting and I'm hoping someone talked to him about it. Was anyone else there last night?

BestAround? Ideas for a kids birthday party?

I’m trying to plan my son’s birthday somewhere around east Vancouver area for late November. We just moved to the area a few months back and just don’t know what’s out here.

I was looking at Big Al’s but I’m trying not to drop $400 to rent a place. Trying to find like a pizza place with arcade games?

Any suggestions would be amazing!!

Politics Vote “No” on I-645. Do not repeal the tax on people making over $1M a year.

Don’t buy the “slippery slope” or this will “trickle down” to the middle class argument. THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN. It would be political suicide for democrats, and have widespread support to get repealed.

This tax impacts less than 1% of households in Washington, and goes to education funding.

The richest 1% in Washington spent A LOT of money gathering signatures and spreading misinformation to try and get this repealed (remember the people sitting in front of every Walmart?). Don’t believe the BS

Question? Rehome lab mix help (repost due to updates)

Thumbnail gallery
96 Upvotes

This is Rover.

Rover is my late mother‘s dog and we are unfortunately unable to keep him. Our other dog has PTSD and is aggressive to him and it’s simply not fair. We have tried and tried to go with training and work with a trainer on both dogs to get them to mingle, but it just isn’t working out. We have exhausted all our resources and have decided to rehome Rover. We don’t want him to go to a shelter. We want to find him a loving family who would be willing to give us updates! ❤️ This boy deserves so much love.

-90 lbs
-Lab, Rottweiler, Great Pyrenees mix
-Birthday is on Christmas of 2020.
-He’s good with outdoor cats, not sure on indoor cats.
-Vaccinated
-He is great with other dogs.
-Good with older or no kids.
-House trained
-Neutered
-Big cuddle bug, loves to smoosh his face right on your lap.
-Loves to go on walks and smell all the trees.
-Can sit and shake
-A lovable drooler
- Gentle giant
-$75 rehome fee
- we need to meet you to see if its a good fit

A big thank you to the people that posted on the last post with responses and considerations of adopting him!

Reposted due to more pictures and updated info.

We would love suggestions and help!

Edited (10/26/26): included rehoming fee and that we need to meet you to see if it’s a good fit. Added these two because people have been asking.

Question? Looking for input on Propositions 12 & 13

I’m trying to understand these two props better so I can make a more informed decision. I’d love to hear from people who are more familiar with them.

I’m not opposed to improving jail conditions and making things safer for both inmates and staff. My main concern is whether these proposals address the underlying problems.

A few things I’m curious about:
- Is there any information about the actual condition of the building that shows how urgent these improvements are? I can’t seem to find much beyond the fact that it was built in 1984 and that it’s currently at capacity.

- Why is the jail at capacity, and how do we know we won’t be back at capacity in a few years after these proposals pass?

- What other funding options were considered besides the proposed property-tax increases?

- If these measures fail, could the county come back with a more detailed plan or a different approach?

I’m genuinely undecided, so I’d appreciate reliable sources, data, or perspectives from people who’ve looked into this or even from people who work there. Thanks!
