Hi! I am currently applying as MS Student sa UP Diliman and DOST ERDT for scholarship. However, nanliliit ako🥺 I am a graduate from state university outside Manila, not a latin honor graduate but with GWA just beyond to become one. Wala pa po akong napublish na study to have my edge and hindi rin po related ang previous and current work ko sa kukunin kong program para makapasok as scholar🥺 Any tips po out there with the same instances like me para matapos ko ang pagrerequirements. [upd] calling all BS IE seniors/alumni sa upd, how much coding is involved sa ie?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

hello! i'm currently a bs math freshie sa upd and i'm planning to shift out kasi nahihirapan talaga ako sa coding, and i'm aware na it's something i'm not good at. i'm considering bs ie sana, pero i'm worried na baka mas mahirap or mas marami pang coding sa ie compared sa bs math.

sa mga ie students or graduates out there, gaano po ka-intensive yung coding sa program? if mahina talaga sa programming and hindi rin siya forte, would you still recommend ie, or should i consider other programs instead? i'd really appreciate your honest insights huhuhu. thank you po!

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hello, UPD community! 🌻

Do you run, jog, walk, study, work, or regularly pass through the UP Diliman Academic Oval?

We’re graduate students from the UP School of Urban and Regional Planning (SURP), currently conducting a study on how recreational runners, walkers, and the university community share and experience the Academic Oval.

We’re looking into recreational activities, perceived crowding, pedestrian movement, and campus access. We hope the findings can help identify possible improvements to how the Oval serves both recreational and institutional users.

Who can answer?
Anyone who has visited or used the UP Academic Oval within the past 3 months, whether for recreation, classes, work, or other activities. You don’t have to be a UP student or a runner!

⏱️ Around 5–10 minutes, depending on your responses.

🔗 Survey link:
https://forms.gle/u6Lh9qiCzwyhAAHEA

🎁 We also have an optional raffle for 5 winners of ₱200 GCash each!

Participation is voluntary, and research findings will be reported in summarized form.

We’d really appreciate your participation! Feel free to share this with your classmates, colleagues, running buddies, and UPD communities.

Maraming salamat, and see you around the Oval! 🌳🌻

[T1] Should I drop ECON 11 to protect my GWA if I'm planning to transfer from UPLB to UPD?

Hi! I’m currently a first-year BS Development Communication student at UPLB, and I’m planning to apply for transfer to UPD for A.Y. 2027–2028.

I’m currently taking 18 academic units, but I’m considering dropping ECON 11 (3 units) because of my academic standing. Our dropping deadline is this Wednesday, October 28, so I’m having a hard time deciding.

For context, I’m not doing particularly well in ECON 11. Although passing is still mathematically possible, I’m worried about potentially receiving a 3.00 or even a 5.00, especially since I want to maintain a competitive GWA for transferring.

I’m doing relatively well in some of my other subjects, so I’m wondering whether it would be more strategic to drop ECON 11 rather than risk a low grade.

If I drop it, I’ll have 15 academic units this semester and plan to take at least another 15 next semester to meet the 30-unit requirement.

I haven’t finalized my target degree program in UPD yet.

For those who have successfully transferred as T1 applicants:

  1. Have you or anyone you know successfully transferred with a DRP on your transcript?
  2. Does having a DRP negatively affect your chances, even if it doesn’t affect your numerical GWA?
  3. Would it be better to drop a subject to protect my GWA or finish it despite the possibility of receiving a low grade?
  4. Is completing exactly 30 academic units by the end of my first year sufficient for T1 eligibility, assuming all units have numerical grades?

I’d really appreciate any advice, especially from those who have been in a similar situation. Thank you so much!

Can I apply for UP Diliman’s MA in Media Studies with a BSBA degree?

Hi! I’m planning to apply for the Master of Arts in Media Studies program at UP Diliman. I graduated with a BSBA major in Business Economics, and I’d like to ask if anyone here has a similar undergraduate background and was able to get admitted to the program.

Is a degree in a business-related field acceptable, or do applicants need to have a background in communication, media, or a related discipline?

I’d also appreciate it if anyone could share their experience with the application process, admission requirements, and whether the program is offered at the UP Diliman campus.

Thank you!!

Can I pass UPCAT or other cets with line of 7 in jhs?

Hi! I'm a grade 11 student, and planning to take the UPCAT, USTET, and DCAT (I'm also gonna apply to other schools aside from these 3).

Back when I was in jhs, I got a line of 7 average in math. 79 in grade 7 and 77 during grade 8, but my grades improved when I was now in grade 9 and graduated with honors nung grade 10. I know grade 11 grades are important for college applications, however I'm worried that my two line of 7s in jhs would affect my chances in getting into one of these schools.

My question is, is it still possible for someone like me that has line of 7s during jhs pass the UPCAT or other cets? UP Manila is my first choice campus and I know how competitive it is there 😢 And if you guys have any tips or advices to pass the UPCAT, please let me know 🥹🙏 Thank you so much! ❤️

Where can I report this car blocking the pedestrian in UP Diliman?

It was almost like the car parked on the pedestrian lane because of how FIT it was on the markings. LIKE SAKOP NIYA TALAGA. And yung mga dumaan na estudyante napilitan dumaan over the car.

Isn’t this disregarding traffic signs? Who has jurisdiction to take action over this delinquent? Is it the university admin or LTO parin?

Is it possible to shift while having an underloaded semster?

I am currently a 2nd year student who wants to shiftout but my problem is that I have 16 units and want to drop a class due to low grades which would result to me having 12 units instead. After reading the college requirements of the colleges I am interested in, there was no mention of underloading and only a unit requirement of 30. I had 33 units in freshman year and was just worried that having an underloaded semster in this AY would view my application as inferior compared to the others.

Thank you!
