Small megathread rule change

Hi y'all,

Unrelated to the other stuff going on, I just wanted to quickly call to attention to a megathread rule change. TL;DR at the bottom.

Previously all prof-specific, 'searching for friends', and non-TXST owned housing posts were directed to megathreads. This is no longer the case.

The first two categories were not as useful as I thought they would be going in. The posts did not happen often and, once relegated to the megathread, got no traction (thank you to those who pointed this out). For that reason, they are no longer megathread topics.

Non-TXST owned housing is still a megathread. People often ask the same question (how is x complex) or want to sublease. Both of these are good applications of a megathread.

TL;DR, only off-campus housing is still megathread. Everything else is not.

My cat Faye is missing!!!!

Hi San mo community I’m in desperate need of your help. My cat Faye ran away about 4 days ago (near the Thompson/ Copper Beech area the streets are MILL ST & POST RD) if anybody happens to see her (her left ear is clipped it will help identify her) please reach out to me. I’m utterly devastated over this to say the least she’s literally my soul cat and my firstborn. Please help me bring her home!!!!!

I walked on foot throughout my entire complex as well as the neighboring areas for hours every day, I’ve posted flyers posted on social media. I’ve gotten my apartment complex to post on their social media, I’m giving out my phone number to people for possible leads, but still nothing, checked with the animal shelters, and currently her bed and some food is by my front door. There’s like some wood/tree brush behind my apartment and I’ve kind of puked through there from a safe distance. I’m still trying to decide whether it’s safe enough to go in to search because train tracks run through there.

ANY OTHER TIPS ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!

Spring students housing assignment?

Does anyone know when incoming spring 27 students should expect housing assignments or have any other information about it at all?

I’ve completed my housing contract but have heard nothing from the housing department and I’m not sure what to expect.

Digital Media Innovations (DMI) major

Hi! I returned this past spring after dropping in 2018. When talking to a readmissions advisor I spoke about wanting to get into Digital Media Marketing, as I was an Art major before I dropped, but they told me TXST didn’t specifically do DMM so I went ahead with the Pre-business to Marketing path. However, I’m not sure if this is the right thing for me as I don’t think I will learn exactly what I’m looking for. I discovered the DMI major and it really sounds more interesting to me. Has anyone graduated with this major or are currently doing it? I’d love to learn more about what exactly it entails and what kind of careers it can lead to.

CHEMISTRY CLEP

Has anyone taken the Chemistry CLEP at TXST? I heard you can get 8 credits for Chem I and II. I’ve never taken CLEP before, so where do I register, how much does it cost, and what resources did you use to study?

Does anyone know if I can rent a laptop charger at LBJ? I know I may have to additionally rent the laptop to get the charger, but I won't do that if it's going to cost me money. I just need the charger for a few days.

Buy a Table.

(A random picture from a search of library tables.)

I am looking very hard to find a good (new or used) table like what we had in library/some classrooms. The ones I found similar costs $400+. I wonder if there’s any way to buy the tables directly from the university? All the (even highly-rated) tables on amazon around $100 has very thin top and legs. Some of the table surfaces are even made of two pieces. I am really looking for a table that two people can sit on with no problem. Any ideas?

Anyone around here wanna go for motorcycle rides?

Hey y’all! I ride an Indian Scout and I’m looking for some local people or groups to go riding with. I really enjoy taking back roads and just cruising around. I’m not into cutting up in traffic or riding recklessly, just wanna enjoy the ride and meet some new people.
If anyone knows of any local riding groups or wants to go for a ride sometime, let me know! :)

Advisor may cause me to graduate late

Hey everyone! So I’m currently enrolled in the AOP program at Texas State, getting my BS in Health Science. I spoke to an advisor before starting in the summer who helped me plan my courses for the entire year, structuring them around graduating in the spring. I met with another advisor today to reaffirm which classes I needed in the spring, and she informed me one of the few I have left is only offered in the summer. I was not made aware of this by the first advisor and they did not advise that I take it this summer or I would have. There is a 16-week fully distanced section for the course I need but as an AOP student I have to take the AOP specific courses. I submitted a course override and explained my situation but I’m not sure what other options I have. I’ve bounced between majors & schools and finally got on the path to graduate on time just for it to be messed up and I’m at a loss.
