So I'm a closeted mtf trans ... I'm trying to learn girl voice and I have been going through DIY vocal training for a while but now I'm at a stage that I feel there's no improvement.
So could you please give me your suggestions on is it passable and what age would you presume based on the voice!?🫠🙌
THANK YOU!🥹♥️.

Audio/Video How would you gender this voice?

I'm trying a voice that's more androgynous and lower but I feel passes better and sounds less fake. How would you gender it?

I've been trying to use a feminine voice irl but I still end up going too fem a lot of the time and it sounds fake. https://voca.ro/11MCntBJdQ9u

Audio/Video Don't sound female, unsure of how to proceed with voice training.

I've been doing sessions with a cisfem voice coach who I adore, and who has helped me somewhat. My normal speaking voice is about a D#3 but I can raise my pitch pretty reliably now. I'm not sure what I'm doing with resonance. vocal weight. Here is what I'm working with.

Question How to keep my voice consistent?

Hello friends.
I was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to keep my voice at a consistent level.
I have a YouTube channel I make videos on mostly to practice my voice training but I’ve found that pretty much every recording session my voice sounds pretty different.
I’m still not really happy with it, but I don’t think I ever will be it’s just how I am. I’m certainly more happy than my previous one though. But even when I find a tone I like I can’t keep it, the moment I stop talking it goes away.
Anyone have any advice? I’d appreciate any help. MtF in case that makes a difference.
Thank you!

Question How to affirm and help a masc-leaning friend with their voice?

Hello, all you lovelies :3, I'm in a bit of a tough situation where I want to help, but I don't know what to do, so I consult your swarm intelligence.

I've made a new enby friend, let's call them Charlie. Charlie currently has an oestrogen-dominant body, and I think they want to change that, but I obviously won't ask for what exactly they want. I really like Charlie (they seem like a great person) and just need to help them be the person they are, but I kinda don't know what to do.

Charlie's worst issue seems to be their voice - they HATE their voice. They despise it, it makes them physically uncomfortable and so sad, just observing them contemplating it makes me sad. That is not just to them being trans, they also have ... trauma I cannot elaborate on. What I can say is that I felt and understood how and why their female-typical voice is such a dreadful thing to them.

So I have two major questions (and a little bonus, for fun):

  1. What kind of compliments or observations do you like to hear about your voice? They liked when I called them "handsome", but I don't think that adjective can be used for voices. I also cannot say their voice is "very deep and manly", because that would currently be a lie, and Charlie is far too smart to be lied to. So what can I say? What kind of descriptors make you feel more masculine-comfortable with your voice even when you know it's in female range. Is it "clear", "outspoken", "firm and charming" etc. I just have no idea at all. Please tell me, how can I make Charlie feel better about their voice (and give them the feeling that it isn't that feminine) without lying?*
  2. What are good (online)-resources on training for masculine voice? I am, as they are, well aware that testosterone will fix that to a large degree anyway. But again, I don't know what they want, and also getting there would take time. When affirming their current voice and making them feel less self-hatred over it is one side of the medal, helping them in shaping their voice the way the want is the other. How can they work on their voice being less of the (bad) voice they hear in themselves?
  3. What do you like to sing to feel good? Charlie likes music, and we had been vaguely talking about things like going to a Karaoke bar. They also mentioned that, when singing in school, they tried to sing Tenor and stuff. So, what kind of songs (irrespective of genre) do you like to sing along to, that make you feel good and masculine in your voice, but without them being too deep and technically infeasible for you. In other words, what songs do feel deeper and more masculine-resonanced than they actually are? How can I find music Charlie can enjoy singing along to, just let themselves be?

* And don't say "just tell them how you feel about their voice". I cannot - I very much like listening to Charlie's voice, but I find it to be pleasant, melodical and so full of liveliness. I'd tell them that their voice is beautiful, because that's how their voice seems to me. But how I feel about their voice is completely and utterly irrelevant, and giving them the impression that the kind of feminine voice they have (which reminds them of a certain other person's feminine voice) is the very last thing they'd want to hear, so the last thing I'd ever tell them.

Thank you in advance for all the help you can provide 💜

I feel like I lack the vocabulary to describe what I feel that I'm missing. I feel like I'm in a pit that a lot of trans girls fall into that's hard to get out of, but it's hard to describe exactly what the pit is. I don't get misgendered much if at all but nonetheless it bothers me.

I feel like it lacks weight but if I add weight

Criticism Wanted So frustrated (MTF)

So look, I don't want to have delusions of being able to pull off something difficult without sufficient practice. I've learned enough instruments and other skills to know how to acquire skills through practice, and how to assess myself

I'm also coming in with I think could be modest advantages. I had done some courses in the past on linguistics and specifically phonetics, I've always been good at voice impressions, and I have strong perception of vocal qualities and can often mimic things effectively. I'm not trying to delude myself thinking this is gonna give a huge advantage, but I do have these things to help support the process

At this point, I feel like I've practiced size/weight/fullness to death. I can hit a wide range of size, I can hit a wide range of weight (even if I can't always isolate weight perfectly from volume/breathiness), and I can hit consistent levels of balanced fullness, or intentional overfullness / underfullness. I am definitely not consistent/stable with it yet

I've also gone past that in Selene's archive, and the vowel/pronunciation stuff has been a bit harder to grasp, but overall I can totally mimic whatever example vowels/pronunciations are presented to me

Nonetheless, I just am at a complete standstill. I can't get anything that sounds remotely feminine. My natural voice is, to be blunt, an "impish voice". I sound like a male gnome from World of Warcraft. And I have never been able to get my feminine voice attempts to sound like anything but "Me doing some voice"

I feel like I'm hitting a wall because all I can find on the subject is "go practice size/weight/fullness" basics, and the gap between "ok i can control that independently" and "i can sound convincingly feminine for even a second" seems massive, with nothing clear to help me bridge it.

I definitely know there's a lot to apply still around vowel shift/vowel replacement, there's the subtler stuff like speech patterns, pitch smoothness/angularity

I'm totally eager to keep practicing, to learn, to be humble and not assume I am doing anything inherently correctly. I feel like my voice shouldn't even be that hard to feminize relative to most AMAB voices, but it's been at a frustrating standstill

Here's a sample

Whenever I watched timelines growing up the dudes voices would only start to have a difference at around 5-6 months in so that’s what I expected, but I guess I’m just responding well to testosterone? Not passing voice yet (I think) but have been a bit surprised to see it :^)

Audio/Video Help with voice improvement (19 MtF)

I have been voice training on and off for a few years and I now like how I sound on recording. However, I would like to get a third-person perspective on how I sound before I spend a bunch of time replacing my old voice with this one. I am aiming for more of a tomboy vibe than a girly girl vibe, but don't hold back based on that. Please let me know how you think I sound (male, female, androgynous), why you think that, and/or what I can do to improve. Thank you!

Criticism Wanted How and what to improve?

Hello Cuties,

welp, I have been voice training a little bit and I am really unsure how and what to improve. Like most of the time, I am told to just raise your pitch. So I try, but I think I sound more like a gay man rather a woman... I am not a big fan of that -.-

And I do have some difficulties to keep the voice up for a long time, but is most likely closely linked to my training duration.

Some takes and what do you think I can do to improve?

Any ideas is appreciated ^^

Question I'mm confused where to begin with after coming back after nearly 2 years

Edit: forgot to mention I'm MtF

About two years ago I tried voice training. For the first weekm I was doing quite a progress, but later I had nearly to no progress. Nothing I found on internet was giving me any results and no matter how much information I gathered, I still was confused and didn't really understand what to do.

After some time of no progress it was becoming more and more of a pain for me to even get myself to do the training, and was training less with time. Later for over a year I didn't really had a space to voice train.

I tried to come back recently since I once again have some space to do it, but I'm very confused where to even begin with, and find something that will actually work.

Please someone help

Question How can I know if my voice is good at a given time, despite dysphoria and apparently sucking at hearing my own voice ?

I've been voice training for a bit less than a year now, and I can finally say that I am capable of speaking in a passing woman's voice. Sometime.

The issue is, when I actually try to use it, despite extensive training and using it in real situations for days at a time, I can almost never tell that when my voice is good or not, despite trusted people telling me it's good a bunch of times.

How can I tell the difference between when it's actually good, and when I'm tired and it doesn't quite work anymore ? In my ears it sounds kinda the same.
