Politicians arguing about whether transgender women can become pregnant??

So, I just saw something on my socials shared by a family member on their story and it was a video from LNP Senator Michaelia Cash going after a Sex Discrimination Comissioner for worrying about trans women being discriminated against in the workplace for "potential pregnancy" (*If you do track down the politician's account, trigger warning for blatant transphobia*). Am I missing something? Transgender women have, so far, not been able to get pregnant because there's never been a successful uterus transplant for trans women? Unless they're arguing over an intersex trans girl who was born with a uterus? I saw something a few days ago about politicians arguing about the right term for people who breastfeed and some arguing that woman is the only "correct" term (which is obviously BS). Are they just confusing trans women and trans men? Or they could simply just be ragebaiting and straight up making shit up about trans women becoming pregnant? What is going on?

Advice Needed for Almost 18yo Trans Man Getting ID'ed.

Asking for my daughter's Bestie, who is going to Melb soon for his 18th bday but might not be able to get ID with his real name on it in time.

So, he's stuck with Birth Certificate and Medicare Card with DEADNAME on it, and photo ID where he was pre T and looks quite different.

It's not so much that he's worried about not being able to get into a club, it's about feeling okay about it all.

I've advised he have a Plan A, B, and C and be ready to move on if feeling uncomfortable or anxkious or if Security doesn't believe his credentials.

Does anyone have any advice on how to handle this situation so as to best avoid being Deadnamed or feeling gross about it all?

Thanks in advance.

Any trans/queer hangout spots in Melbourne?

Hi hi everyone. Question is basically the title. I was wondering if there were any places to meet more trans people in melbourne.

I'm trying to break out of my shell a little. Most of my current trans friends are online/in other countries. And I'm constantly hearing about how they can hangout and do things together. And I'm honestly a bit jealous 😅, so I'm trying to be brave and be productive with this energy while I have it.

(NSW) How to avoid getting Centrelink Youth Allowance payments cut off/delayed when changing legal name and gender?

hi all. i'm a 2nd year full time uni student who has been on Youth Allowance payments for over a year now, and my new birth cert and docs came in the mail today. i was just wondering what the optimal route is for changing all legal things without causing disruptions? as i think i have heard people say that if even one detail mismatches between your uni/centrelink/tfn/IDs etc etc it can instantly cause YA payments to be cut off without warning. i don't know how true that is but i do want to be on the safe side because these payments are pretty important for me

any advice is appreciated, especially if you are/were a uni student on YA payments while changing their legal details. and also in general i do just wanna change all my legal stuff ASAP. thanks!!

Trans fem How do I report/make a complaint about a GP that I think is medically negligent and should not be offering GAHT.

This is a doctor both me and a friend have been to based on recommendations I got from this sub. Without going into too many details, I do not believe they have the experience level to be offering gender affirming care. Delays, refusals on dose changes when levels are dangerously low, and just generally being completely uninformed about transition and informed consent.

I recently switched doctors and it's put it into perspective just how bad they were, and watching my friend struggle with much worse care (to the point of medical negligence) is pretty heartbreaking.

Just wondering where I can complain and if it's worth it, or if anyone else has ever done something similar.

I can share more details in comments and DM me if you want the doctors name, but I would rather not state it in a post.

Trans fem I don't want to begin hrt until I've frozen sperm, but I've never masturbated so am worried I won't be able to

So I have my initial appointment booked at the start of December, to begin the process of getting on hrt. Despite the persistent whispering of self doubt in the back of my brain, I'm almost certain this is something I want to do, and will be better for doing.

But I also want to preserve my fertility. Which normally would be a simple process, but I have never masturbated before. I'm 99% sure I'm asexual. I don't think I'm sex repulsed, but I've never liked touching myself, and whenever I tried to I would get squeamish about pulling the foreskin back (I've been able to do so slightly, to clean it, but not much more than that). I'm not sure if this aversion is somehow linked to dysphoria in any way. The term is still relatively new to me, and my dysphoria manifested more as apathy and depersonalisation, rather than an intense discomfort with my physical body.

I've heard of procedures involving a needle being used to extract a sample from the testicles, but only in the context of spinal injury. I couldn't seem to find much online info from Victorian clinics about it either. I was hoping that maybe there were other people who found themselves in the same boat as me prior to transitioning, and how they handled it. Because I want to be excited at the prospect of finally taking my life into my own hands, but this is stopping me from feeling that.

Thank you in advance for any help!

Lib+On majority in Victoria, what anti trans laws are coming?

it’s guaranteed at this point that Victoria for the next few years will be ruled by the cookers that are libs+On, both extremely anti trans because they can’t really create policies to improve people’s lives so they ll go for culture war points.

what laws are we going to see? are they going to try ban trans people from bathrooms?

sometimes I can’t decide if I hate libs more or Labor for being such sellouts and putting a lib dressed as labor as a candidate, no surprise nobody liked him and this is the result.

What extreme laws do they expect to pass? worst case scenario because there’s no point preparing for best case scenarios

Possible Trigger Hi, from the UK

I just wanted to say I hate it here, I'm 26 and feel like I'm actually 50 after the last few years.

After all the nonsense that has gone down here the thing that pisses me off the most is that no one in my family, even people who have seemingly accepted me, has spoken to me about any of the awful shit that's happened here. Oh and also a new Harry Potter series...

Anyway, I couldn't bring myself to look at that cesspit of depression (UK sub) so I'm ranting on here, sorry. Wish I lived in Australia fml...

SA Specific Places in Adelaide for face to face MTF voice training

Heya! So I'm a trans woman living in Adelaide and after a few years of transitioning I've decided I need to finally lock in on voice training if I want to start living without constant dysphoria. I've tried a couple of voice training YouTube videos but I find them difficult to really focus on and so I want to try something a bit more personal and face to face. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with Adelaide-based vocal coaches and how much they typically cost? 👀

Thankyou in advance 🥰

VIC Specific Questions about MtF HRT and how to get it

  1. Can a GP, as in just any random GP, prescribe HRT stuff? Could I go to my normal doctor and come out with a prescription for estrogen or anti-androgen stuff?

  2. Is it worth starting anti-androgens as a 19 year old without going on estrogen? Are there any more significant effects to block at this point?

  3. If GPs can't prescribe hrt, how do I get it? Do I need a diagnosis? A specific kind of doctor? How do I get a diagnosis if I need one?

  4. After starting HRT, how long can I realistically hide it before it's obvious? Is there anything I should do before starting HRT?

Any answers are helpful! Also any general advice for a girl that has no idea what she's doing. Thanks!

WA Specific Bad experiences with RPH gender clinic

I'm wondering if anyone else who goes to the RPH for reandron has had bad experiences?

Iv been going there since January/February and its been horrible the entire time. Firstly i was at the childrens Hospital on the monthly dose, and when i was referred to RPH, my endo specified that my second reandron shot needs to be 6 weeks after the first one so my levels dont plummet. And they didnt do it, they made me wait the whole 12 weeks and were surprised when my bloods showed extremely low levels. (Yes i reminded them about my endo saying it needs to be 6 weeks).

And they kept me at a 12 week gap for the next dose too and once again were surprised my levels are too low. So they TOLD me they were going to change my dose gap from 12 weeks to 10.... they actually made the gap 13 weeks.

Am i just unlucky or is it like this for everyone at RPH? Im fed up with feeling like shit for 3 weeks before my next shot, iv nearly been on reandron for a year and they still havent gotten my dose right.

FTM 17 yr old steps to top surgery

Hi all, I am trying to get information on the best way to navigate getting my little brother top surgery. He is about to turn 17 and I know that in order to be eligible for top surgery he will need at least 6 months of documented gender dysphoria.
The problem is we live extremely rurally. About 4 hours north of Cairns QLD, in the middle of nowhere. Does anyone have an online doctors/psychiatrists who specialise in transgender patients?
Any tips, advice and resources are welcome! Thank you so much!!

NSW Specific Advice on taking time off work for SRS - 3 months

Hi all, in mid February I will be having SRS in Thailand with Dr Chettasak. I will be staying there just over a month or so in hospital. I've been advised by a lot of people to take around 3 months off work. Everything is paid for including flights etc but I have yet to tell work.

I work at Bunnings, I am Fulltime permanent and I am an SDA member. I currently have around 1 week of sick leave currently + 4 and a half weeks off annual leave (by the time surgery rolls around). So 5.5 weeks total. I am then going to request an extra 6 weeks of leave without pay, which I am saving up for. Plenty of people at my workplace have taken Leave without pay for long periods of time too.

I have a GP appointment tomorrow, and I am going to get a letter stating that I am having surgery etc but not mention what surgery it is - as I am stealth; so work does not know that I am trans including management as far as I am aware, and I'd much prefer to keep it that way.

I am quite nervous to notify work. Do we have legal protections in general if I give a GP note? Or do we have any extra protections if you're trans? (which I'd much rather not have to disclose).

Has anyone else done this? Any input would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Trans fem Am I underdosing? Sandrena gel satchet users?

For context; saw trans friendly GP, seeking feminising HRT but with a request to also use SERMS until I felt comfortable enough feminine presenting to develop any significant breast growth.

I started on 3 months of 1 x 1mg/g sandrena gel satchet/day, and have been moved up to 2 gel satchet /day, with corresponding 100mg spiro and evista.

I’m maybe 5-6 months in, and while I appreciate this is a marathon, not a sprint, I have probably seen more nipple/areola/breast development than I’ve had hoped for trying to stealth, and beyond some softer hair, haven’t noticed any perceptible changes.

I have my blood test this week to provide a bit more clarity on where I’m tracking. Just hoping to ascertain from other sandrena users what dose/stage they’re at, and whether this is just the usual experience?

Any advice for dealing with bad dysphoria?

I have an exam tomorrow, have not done as much study as I wished to do party because of dysphoria and am stressing out. Every time I want to study I have to stop and slow my brain down which gets me thinking about everything I’m trying to ignore so I just keep distracting myself from my dysphoria and studying both.

It definitely doesn’t help that my family are all assholes to me especially now that I’m talking to them about uni’s and being very open about wanting to gtfo of the house as soon as possible.

I have to get into the best course of either Melbourne or Monash in my preferences and they’ll pay for my accommodation and I’m so incredibly stressed. I need to get over it and be able to study as well as I can but it’s so difficult.

ADHD definitely contributes a bunch but most of the time I don’t study it’s the result of dysphoria distracting me (or getting horrid sleeps because of it). Any advice/tips is greatly appreciated!!!

NSW Specific thank you!!

Hi everyone! 💗 I’m currently living in Sydney on a Working Holiday Visa (subclass 417) and looking for advice on finding well-paid work.
I have experience in hospitality, front office, guest services and customer service, including experience as an Assistant Purser on cruise ships. I also have my RSA, White Card and Food Handler Certificate, and I speak four languages.
I’m hoping to save money for some future personal and gender-affirming procedures, so I’m particularly interested in casual jobs with good hourly rates, overtime and plenty of shifts.
Would you recommend any particular industries, recruitment agencies or employers in Sydney? I’d really appreciate any advice or recommendations. Thank you! 💕

Does anybody have recent experience with wait times between initial appointments at the TG Health Clinic in Melbourne with Dr Brownhill?

So my initial consult with Dr Brownhill has been confirmed for the 2nd of December, and having to wait over a month for the first appointment has me worried that I might not be able to start hrt until some time next year. I understand that the initial appointment is an hour, so it would be harder to fit into his schedule than follow up appointments, but still.

I plan on getting a hormonal blood test from my regular gp beforehand, just to speed up the process. And any other tips that can help fast-track starting hrt would be super super appreciated.

But if anybody could share their recent experience with wait times at the clinic just to give me an idea of what to expect that would be great. I know I've already waited 22 years to start this process, but now that I know I'm ready, this month long wait feels like agony.

Edit: In case anybody else seeing Dr Brownhill stumbles upon this post and is thinking of getting blood work done beforehand. I just had him confirm via email that getting bloods done early won't speed up any part of the process.
