I'm writing and don't have a title. I'm also on my phone lying in bed thinking of what I'm feeling. None of it good.
I'm married forever to my wife. She has a son. That boy is an adult with his own kids. He was just a little boy when we tied the knot. My grandchild is graduating college next year.
When the grandchildren were little I came out as Trans. It was a shock and a lot of emotions and understanding was shared between my wife and myself. However, I was ostracized by my stepson and my grandkids dropped me immediately. Blocked me on social media and blocked me on there phones. It hurt a lot!!!
That was almost 10 years ago. In that time I have not had any contact with any of them. And really I have partly put it behind me. However, they still want to have contact with my wife. I mean why wouldn't they, she's their grandmother.
I left my home state and my wife 3 ½ years ago. Partly because my state became fascist and I wasn't safe. My wife couldn't live without me so she followed me here to my new home 3 months after I arrived. I love her and she loves me.
Here is my delima, her son called to talk about my grandkid's graduation. For the last few weeks I have been excited to go see them. Partly because I am fucking gorgeous!!!!! But also I miss them. But after my wife's phone conversation I am sad and just so empty.
I wasn't prevy to the conversation, because its not my place to lord over someone while they are in conversation. But what she relayed to me hurt deeply. Not just from her son but from her take on it. Basically it was this: they don't hate me. But I'm always political and if someone doesn't believe how I believe then they are wrong. I'm not going to defend myself over this because yes I am political, but to the point of I don't believe my rights are any less than anyone's else's. No more but no less. One side doesn't want me to exist. That's not political in my opinion. But I've always been a social warrior even before I transitioned. So that statement hurt. What hurt more is when my wife didn't defend me. Just let that statement hang in the air like it was fact and context doesn't matter. The other part of the conversation was my grandchild blocked me because they didn't understand me. Again she didn't defend me or push back on that. My grand kid came out as ACE. So having that much of a foundation on LGBTQ + and saying they don't understand is weak tea. Plus, again my wife didn't push back. It hurts so much to supposedly have your soul mate allow me to be harmed. I say harmed, I don't know if that's correct. It feels like I was harmed, maybe neglected. All I know is I wasn't being defended.
I don't want to go now and I feel hurt so much that she doesn't see what she did or rather didn't do as a slight to me. I know she doesn't want to upset her son. But I'm hurt as well. She's in a tight place. It's hard.
When this stuff happens...and it's happened before. I shut down and cut people off completely. Right or wrong it's my M.O.
What I am wanting to know is how do I get past this? Because part of me wants to have her go to graduation and tell her not to come back. I know that's not rational or correct behavior. It's childish and selfish. Like I'm a hurt little baby not liking that the world isn't fair.
It's hard for me to even be in the same room. She knows something is off. I tell her it's because of the news from her conversation. Her response is that it's actually good news that I am welcomed with conditions. That I'm too this or that and that I'm the reason we are close because of my stance on human rights and how fascism is somehow wrong.
I'm ranting and sorry about that. I'm yelling into the void. Life will go on. Just not content with my lot in life. Carry on
