Recently, my interest in the Chicago NorthWestern railroad has seemed to skyrocket because my late grandfather worked on that railroad for 30 years and he died in 2015. Since I was eight years old then, I couldn’t do much to serve as a tribute to him but now, at the age of nineteen, I know I can do something significant to honor him so I decided to try my hand at reskinning again. Initially, I was going to do a fictional ALCO (American Locomotive Works) RSD-7 wearing the CNW livery but I ran into an issue that didn’t let me do so (basically, the texture files were not in the TGA format, which I will fix at a later point in time to complete that reskin). Instead, I decided to go with the MLW (Montreal Locomotive Works) RS-18 since it is the Canadian equivalent of the ALCO RS-11, which was used on the CNW.
After up to eight hours of meticulous work (including a handful of instances where I had to fix some small mistakes on my end), I did manage to make an exceptional reskin! Since my reskinning abilities are not yet top tier, I’m sure there’s more that I can do to fully improve on this reskin and I will be sure to work on that!
But right now, I hope that this serves as a good example of my dedication to making an excellent tribute to my grandfather and of my determination to improve my reskinning skills!
Be sure to give me some honest feedback on this because I almost guarantee that there’s room for improvement on my end! Feel free to also rate it on a scale of One to Ten if you want to! I cannot stress enough how much I appreciate any feedback and tips from those who are much more experienced and talented at reskinning (which is more than likely most of you guys) than I am!
P.S.: I will definitely be sure to share my RSD-7 reskin when it’s done but I would like to get some more practice in by completing a few more reskins before then!
