Brick had been living outside my building in Harlem for at least a few months, hanging around a pile of old bricks and construction materials. I approached him early one morning as he was drinking a puddle of rainwater out of the top of a plastic barrier around the bricks. He came over to me for pets, and I was able to scoop him up into my arms. Needless to say, Brick is a pampered indoor cat now. And he has the most amazing toe beans.
