šŸŒ I'm dumb šŸŒ Checksum from the future?

If you were to guess a 12-digit hexadecimal hash, it's about 1 in 281 trillion that you will get it right. I believe a time traveler should be able to do it.

theory / question What are your thoughts

Post image
22 Upvotes

I really need to talk about this topic.

Past – Present – Future

Topic 1 - travel to the past

Let’s say we are on Timeline 0, and you travel back in time to 1955. You end up killing someone in 1955, and after that, you return to the present day. However, it isn’t your original present anymore because you have entered Timeline 1.

By travelling back in time, you have split the timeline into two separate universes. Timeline 0 and Timeline 1 now exist simultaneously. But this means that, in Timeline 0, you have vanished from your own life, and everyone thinks you have gone missing.

Topic 2 - travel to the future

Your present is Timeline 0. You decide to travel to the future. Let’s say you travel from today, 2026, to the year 2045.

This means you have vanished from everyone’s lives for 19 years. But whatever you do in the future doesn’t matter to your original timeline because the future hasn’t been written yet.

Now, let’s say you decide it’s time to return to your present, which is 2026. However, by doing so, you enter Timeline 1. Why? Why can’t you return to Timeline 0?

Well, it’s because you created a new timeline the moment you vanished from everyone’s lives. That timeline still exists, even after you return to the past.

theory / question If Time Travel is possible and real than there are limit?

For an example, let's say now you are 50 years old in this year 2026. Time Travel back means you only can travel back till 1976. Because before 1976 you don't even born yet come to this world. Next if go back lets say back to 80s. You will be 50 years ? see yourself in younger days? Or in person ? If so you will not be 50 years old. You will be back to just 8, 9, 10 years old depend which year you plan to go in 80s.

Whereas for Time Travel to the future, You don't even know which year you will RIP.

theory / question Time Traveler Video from 2018

Does anyone remember the video from maybe like 2018ish of a super creepy looking old man standing outside the mcdonald’s? He looked like he came from like the 1800s and he came up to the car and looked soo confused. The people in the car were like laughing and asking him if he was good. I literally cannot find it anywhere and it’s driving me crazy. I might be making this up in my head but people were saying he was a time traveler.

theory / question time travelling is confusing as hell

cuz like, f i wanna go back in time to see myself a few days ago, it would already have happened to me that day with another version of me appearing in my room

but theoretically, i would have to experience going back in time for that to happen, because i would've randomly chosen to do the travel, BUT, the thing is, it already happened, cuz i was already in the chosen time future me teleported to

it's like an infinite loop, since (let's say) the appeareance of future me caused me to go back in time to do that.

but what caused it first? what's the origin? we can never know because the timeline cannot be changed. that's like asking where a circle begins.

im bad at explaining lol

theory / question What if every historical figure is a time traveller

I was just sitting in my living room thinking and o thought what if every historical figure is just a time traveller and there not the original person so for example there's been so many Considines in history like Christopher Columbus finding America whilst trying to get to India if Europeans were already sailing to Asia your telling me no one decided to go west and Christoper Columbus just found it one day also I did see a Reddit story similar to what I thought about but it would be confusing because if time travel exsists it always has and we just haven't reached the point

theory / question Grandfather Paradox another level

Imagine a next-level Grandfather Paradox involving two friends, X and Y. They decide to travel back in time to a point before they were born so they can see what their fathers looked like as young men. However, while in the past, Y deliberately kills X’s father. Since this doesn't affect Y's lineage, Y’s existence remains secure. But because X’s father is now dead, X should cease to exist. If X never existed, how could he have traveled back in time with Y in the first place?

šŸš€ sci-fi: art/movie/show/game/book Time and all quantum logic is reversible. Made all quantum logic visual

Hi

This is about Quantum Odyssey, my love letter to everything Quantum Computing and the fundamental logic blocks everything in our universe seems to run on. I want to update you all on the fact that the latest patch brings the game into an almost complete status. All that's missing is translations. Thank you Reddit community for receiving the game so well, without you I wouldn't have the funds needed to complete my life's work.

If you are remotely interested in deep diving how differently quantum computers work compared to our transistor-based and also the algebra behind in a fully interactive way that teach computer science from scratch, oh boy this is for you. I am the Dev behindĀ Quantum OdysseyĀ (AMA! I love taking qs) - worked on it for about 9 years (3+ during PhD, the visual method I developed ended up being my thesis, it is a complete Hilbert space visualizer), the goal was to make a super immersive space for anyone to learn quantum computing through zachlike (open-ended) logic puzzles and compete on leaderboards and lots of community made content on finding the most optimal quantum algorithms. The game has a unique set of visuals capable to represent any sort of quantum dynamics for any number of qubits and this is pretty much what makes it now possible for anybody 15yo+ to actually learn quantum logic without having to worry at all about the mathematics behind.

This is a game super different than what you'd normally expect in a programming/ logic puzzle game, so try it with an open mind.

Stuff you'll play with

  • Boolean Logic – bits, operators (NAND, OR, XOR, AND…), and classical arithmetic (adders). Learn how these can combine to build anything classical. You will learn to port these to a quantum computer.
  • Quantum Logic – qubits, the math behind them (linear algebra, SU(2), complex numbers), all Turing-complete gates (beyond Clifford set), and make tensors to evolve systems. Freely combine or create your own gates to build anything you can imagine using polar or complex numbers.
  • Quantum Phenomena – storing and retrieving information in the X, Y, Z bases; superposition (pure and mixed states), interference, entanglement, the no-cloning rule, reversibility, and how the measurement basis changes what you see.
  • Core Quantum Tricks – phase kickback, amplitude amplification, storing information in phase and retrieving it through interference, build custom gates and tensors, and define any entanglement scenario. (Control logic is handled separately from other gates.)
  • Famous Quantum Algorithms – explore Deutsch–Jozsa, Grover’s search, quantum Fourier transforms, Bernstein–Vazirani, and more.

theory / question If you time travelled to November 13, 2015, would you like to stop the IS (Islamic State) from bombing the Paris?

On Friday, November 13, 2015, in Paris, France, and the city's northern suburb, Saint-Denis. Beginning at 9:16 PM, three suicide bombers struck outside the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, during an international football match, after failing to gain entry to the stadium. Another group of attackers then fired on crowded cafƩs and restaurants in Paris, with one of them also detonating an explosive, killing himself in the process. A third group carried out another mass shooting and took hostages at an Eagles of Death Metal concert attended by 1,500 people in the Bataclan theatre, leading to a stand-off with police. The attackers were either shot or detonated suicide vests when police raided the theatre.

theory / question My psychological solution to the Bootstrap Paradox (The Writer): The Cosmic Antenna and Schizophrenia

Hi everyone. I want to share my own theory to solve the famous Bootstrap Paradox (the loop where a writer receives his own book from the future, leaving the story with no clear original author).
To me, physical time travel never actually happened. The paradox can be completely solved by removing the time machine and combining neuroscience with psychology:Conclusion: The book does have an author (the young writer, who acted as the physical channel) and the information does have an origin (the universe's cloud of knowledge). The temporal loop disappears because the time travel was just a psychological delusion to cope with an extraordinary gift.
What do you think about this psychological/quantum solution to the paradox? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

theory / question Why time travel (without teleportation) would be one of the worst superpowers.

Time travel would be a terrible power due to the fact that the Earth is moving around the sun at 67,000 mph (107,208 km/h), the sun is moving around Sagittarius A (the center of the Milky Way) at 514,000 mph (828,000 km/h), the milky way is moving through space at 1.3 million mph (2.1 million km/h), etc. etc., meaning time travel would likely dump you in the middle of space, causing a death most likely by asphyxiation, although you would freeze and boil as well.

Edit: I have realized that my argument is wrong. There aren't any absolute points in space and the hypothetical time traveler would still keep the momentum of the earth.

theory / question Dark series makes me interested in TIME.

In recent days I was unhappy and don't know what I should do and what makes me happy. I was trying to watch shows like Modern Family and the re-watch of The Office but nothing calmed my Mind. Netflix gave a suggestion of DARK series and now I am into the valuable thing called TIME. My curiosity increased after each episode and looking for concepts like Wormholes, Time travel nd all goes back to Maths and Physics, the subjects which I am afraid of and tough to understand.

What are your suggestions is it study maths / physics from foundations will help me more in understanding of the time concept or research about the history of time traveling?

physics (paper/article/question) 🄼 A new hypothesis on time travel...

Most discussions about time travel eventually end up talking about going faster: relativistic speeds, approaching the speed of light, wormholes, warp drives, enormous amounts of energy, etc.

I started wondering about the exact opposite.

What happens if instead of making matter go faster, we find a way to make its relevant motion approach zero?

The starting point is the de Broglie relation, Ī» = h/p. As momentum approaches zero, the de Broglie wavelength increases without bound. That by itself obviously doesn’t give us a time machine, but it raises an interesting question about matter, localization and the physical meaning of time.

The idea I’m exploring is that time may be fundamentally connected to oscillation and physical change. If the oscillatory processes that define the evolution of matter could somehow be coherently slowed toward a limiting state, could matter undergo a transition in its relationship with space and time?

I’m calling that hypothetical transitionĀ The De Broglie Shift.

The machine I’m developing for the thought experiment uses a harmonically tuned rotating disc and standing-wave resonance to drive matter toward this state, followed by controlled relocalization. One consequence I’m exploring is that reappearance would be endothermic, producing a sudden drop in temperature as the material state is restored.

And there’s a stranger implication I want to explore. If the limiting state really did mean losing ordinary localization while physical time ceased to have its familiar meaning, the object wouldn’t simply be ā€œsomewhere else.ā€ In the extreme version of the hypothesis, it would have no unique position in ordinary space and no ordinary progression through time.

That starts sounding suspiciously like language humans have used for thousands of years: outside time, everywhere and nowhere, omnipresent. I’m not suggesting that physics proves anything supernatural. I just find the conceptual overlap fascinating.

There’s a lot here that goes beyond established physics, and that’s part of the point of the book. I want to start with what quantum mechanics and relativity actually say, then clearly mark the point where my own hypothesis begins and see how badly conventional physics can beat it up.

One interesting connection I explore inĀ The De Broglie ShiftĀ comes from the ending of the 1979 filmĀ Time After Time. H. G. Wells sends John into infinity, removing him from the physical world with no apparent way to return. That scene reminded me of the de Broglie relationship: as momentum approaches zero, the associated wavelength grows without bound. Could matter, under extraordinary conditions, lose its ordinary spatial localization and become inaccessible to our familiar world? Established quantum mechanics doesn't predict such a disappearance, but the parallel raises an intriguing question at the heart of my book: what if the key to time travel lies in understanding what happens when matter approaches absolute stillness?

If anyone is interested, I've been working on this book for a while, and just released it on Amazon. Be advised, there are a few chapters that require a mathematical understanding of graduate level physics.

theory / question Why I think time travel isn’t possible (into the past)

travelling back in time likely isn’t possible because if it was possible then surely someone from the distant future would’ve come back to our time by now. imagine humans thousands of years in the future with advanced technology and nobody has ever come back to see us. you’d think at least one person would’ve done it by now, though travelling into the future, that’s a whole other story.

Say you invented basketball somehow with all its components: hardwood floors, laced up ball, backboard, springs, shot clocks, etc.

How could you even make the game into what it is today?

For that matter, let’s say it’s the year 1850, and basketball isn’t invented until 1891 by Dr. James. Could you do this?
