They like to make music videos to their songs. Izzy says Johnny Marr is her favorite guitarist of all time and Kareem says Morrissey radiates coolness and is his idol. I don't think these are controversial opinions at all. Links below if you're intrigued :) let me know which one is your personal fav and if you have any suggestions for our next video!

When the single "Ask" was released, some countries—such as Germany—decided to sell a version with the same cover art but a different tracklist, replacing the original songs. On the B-side, "Cemetry Gates" and "Golden Lights" were dropped and replaced by "Frankly, Mr. Shankly" (from *The Queen Is Dead*) and "The Draize Train" (the original B-side to their previous single, "Panic"). As for the A-side, "Ask" was replaced by a track recorded a year earlier (in 1985)—"Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others"—which would go on to serve as the poignant closing track for "The Queen Is Dead".
The German edition’s cover differed from the original in that its background was a dark pink rather than a vibrant yellow.
To mark the 40th anniversary of "Ask" (which took place last week), I created an alternative cover for "Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others," using the photograph of Yootha Joyce that appears on the back cover of the aforementioned single—a choice made to avoid any confusion.

Ok this is not my rating, I’m a big smiths fan, but I didn’t know people thought this way about the band, am I the only one who finds their music more diverse? Idk

The photo you see on screen comes from one of The Smiths' final photo sessions, many months before they broke up. This same picture was later used as the cover for a promotional edition of the single "Shoplifters of the World Unite."
I’ve tried searching for a high-quality version, but I only keep finding poor-quality ones. I could try using ChatGPT, Gemini, or Meta to enhance the version I found, but I’d rather not—there’s a risk they might alter the faces or even remove Andy (you can see a bit of Rourke’s face in the shot).
So, I’ll put the question from the post title to you all: Does anyone have this same photo in high quality? I’d like to use it to create another cover for the aforementioned single.

It's just a bunch of young people riding bikes and wearing glasses.
It basically has no storytelling plot apart from maybe the message about being hipster, the fashion, the glasses from the NHS, the seemingly working class, red brick houses and quads, and Morrisey being Morrisey. Clumsy, shy and his own persona.
Apart from the visuals, does the music video hold a specific meaning?
Maybe about being against the current system? The clever youth being the future? What exactly then?

The one with only one photo is the one on streaming, and seems to be the default for all international versions of the record, while the one with the 4 panel photo seems to have been used for the North American releases only (the ones with How Soon Is Now Added)
Which one is I guess the “original” cover, or the one the band designed?

Went to my local record store today to purchase Meat is Murder on vinyl, been there a few times very good reputable shop- anyway, they have a clear vinyl edition of the album so I decide to purchase it as I always love a different look of each vinyl I buy and I just think it’s cool but upon getting home I open the vinyl packaging and pull the vinyl out of its sleeve. A side is Meat is murder (as expected as with the standard A side tracks) and B side is the queen is dead??? My player is currently broken so can’t listen to check but any clues on if this is a misprint or some tampering or maybe something else. There seems to be a sticker beneath A side Meat is Murder sticker, so maybe the queen is dead sticker for an A side- but obviously the outer sleeve and one sticker is labelled as Meat Is murder. Wish I had a working player to check but as I said it’s broken so I can only wait and see :)
A and B side with sleeve in photos and a close up of the double layered sticker- I guess the previous owner just peeled off their meat is murder sticker and put it on The queen is dead, then slipped it into its original meat is murder sleeve?

I had this theory explained by a guy who is a huge Oasis and Smiths fan, and he has this theory that says that people in their youth listen to Oasis because it's more about freedom, not giving a damn, being rebellious and rockstar, while in their 30s they are disappointed and tired, so they feel more solace by listening to the Smiths
They keep listening to Oasis, but they don't spiritually relate to their music as much as they used to.
While they relate almost every single lyric to the Smiths
Is that true?
Then I feel like I might have had a case of accelerated ageing, because I am starting to like more the smiths than oasis... Because I'm very tired inside.

I’ve been on a Smiths kick the last month or so, and I think I can call myself a fan now. My dad has been a longtime fan, so they’ve always been on in the background but I decided recently to dive deep into their discography. So far I’ve listened to all 4 studio albums, and skimmed through the compilations. Do you have any song suggestions that would be missing from this lineup?
