Firestar’s Quest, what if

The clan structure isn't perfect.

Clan leader's word is law (also the only voice who gets a vote/final say), so the cats has! to follow it, even when the leader is clearly wrong/not acting like themselves. They claim they value/honor the elders, but care for them is left soley in the hands of the, next to, youngest members, and if a grown up (warrior) has to do it, they're unhappy as "they were originally done with this task, and now it's beneath them". Medicine cats being forbidden from having a mate/kits. Their high and mighty "we're so much better than you. If you don't live as a clancat, you're not doing life right" mindset, while also laughing at and denying cats the opportunity to leave the position/life the clan cats looks down on (especially in arc 1). Clearly unfit/troublemaker warriors being granted an apprentice. I won't add the reliance on and overly admiration of StarClan, as that didn't become such a problem until arc 3/4 and onward. They preach about the warrior code, and views it as following it is what makes them special, but breaks it constantly. How apprentices/warriors can't eat even one piece of the prey they hunt, even when the prey-pile is well stocked, prey is running well, and there's isn't any large litter of kits, nor any illness around that would require they eat extra to keep their strength up.

So it would have been really interesting/fun if, for the part of the book where Firestar and Sandstorm tries to help the cats put together a clan, all of this was brought up and challenged. Maybe Firestar and Sandstorm could leave by the end, seeing SkyClan doing things that makes up the pillars of a traditional clan life differently, and aknowledge that that could also work (as the only difference for the first part of their story is the daylight warriors).

Then the story could focus on that, rather than the Spottedleaf drama.
