Article The Beach Boys Cancel Yet Another Planned Comeback Concert
rollingstone.comThe Beach Boys were supposed to return to the stage Oct. 9 at the Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington, Illinois, after gradually canceling all of their dates over the past three months as Mike Love takes time to “recharge” following an unspecified health ailment. But they’ve just pulled that show as well.

Article Add Some Music - Beach Boys fanzine / Vol5 No2 1982
galleryAdd Some Music - Beach Boys fanzine / Vol5 No2 1982
Back with some more fanzine pictures!
I included some articles at the end that are interesting. A music update that reflects on the state of the band in 82' and general musings/updates - as well as some concert reviews. The reviews were pretty brutal, with one even stating...
"When Dennis left the stage the remaining group was not the Beach Boys. They were perhaps 'Mike Love and The Endless Summer Beach Boys', but not the band that fans have grown to love in over twenty years. A spirit, as well as a large part of the talent, was missing."
😬
Happy reading!

Article The Beach Boys And John Stamos Are In Hot Water Over Upcoming Gig
uk.news.yahoo.comThe Beach Boys and John Stamos are facing major backlash ahead of their upcoming SeaWorld Orlando performance, with animal rights activists calling out the group for supporting the controversial marine park.
Ahead of Sunday’s concert, demonstrators from PETA and the Animal Rights Foundation of Florida are set to rally outside the venue, holding signs reading, _“Wouldn’t It Be Nice… if Orcas Were Free?”_
The protest is aimed directly at The Beach Boys and John Stamos, who activists say are helping promote a facility they believe mistreats marine animals.

Article ‘Kokomo’, a “missed opportunity” and Brian Wilson’s big Beach Boys regret
faroutmagazine.co.ukFor a band with as chequered a history as The Beach Boys, a few regrets, missed opportunities, and forever-destroyed relationships are par for the course.
In fact, it’s a wonder that Brian Wilson and the gang ever found time for recording sessions in between their various vicious disputes, legal battles, and long-running feuds.
Yet, they somehow not only powered through the turmoil, but did so with great proficiency.
Pet Sounds, for instance, only came out in the spring of 1966, yet it was already their 11th studio album.

Article ohn Stamos says Beach Boys legend Mike Love is facing 'serious health challenges'
I know how some of you feel about Fox News so I reposted part of the article to read here but it DOES answer some questions that have been kicking around this sub about Mike.
Sure sounds like he's going to take some time off.
John Stamos performed with the Beach Boys on Sunday at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.
Before the show, the actor was overcome with emotion talking about Beach Boys legend Mike Love, who is facing "serious health challenges."
Stamos, 63, shared a carousel of images on social media with his "musical hero and mentor" before admitting he was "struggling" to put his feelings into words.
"My beloved friend, father figure, musical hero and mentor, Mike Love, is facing serious health challenges," he wrote. "We hope he’ll be doing what he loves for years to come, but we don’t know what the future holds. We have tonight."
At Tuesday's Hot Cuisine fundraiser for the Scleroderma Research Foundation (SRF), Stamos told Fox News Digital it was his mission to get Love to the Ryman Auditorium for a performance of a lifetime.
"Our goal was to get him up at the Ryman this weekend. He wanted it," Stamos said. "I've been spending a lot of time with him, you know, quiet time. We've been listening to music. … Doo-wop. He loves Doo-Wop.
"And I said, ‘You gotta tell me, do you really think you can do these shows this weekend?’ He said, ‘Yes, and I really want to.’ I said, 'We'll make it happen.'
"Everybody told him not to — doctors, his family — but it was something he wanted to do. He's made all my dreams come true and all my wishes. So, I had to fulfill his wish, and we made sure that he got there and did a good job."
SRF presented John Stamos with the Bob Saget Legacy Award, recognizing his steadfast support for scleroderma research and his commitment to following in Bob’s footsteps by shining a spotlight on scleroderma and raising funds toward a cure.

Article Adult/Child saga: California Girls
hildebrand.landLast week, my boots-on-the-ground adventures took me inland to Cerritos from coastal LA to see Al Jardine and the Pet Sounds Band on October 11th. Along the way I stopped off in Hawthorne at dusk and went to visit the hillside leading up to the freeway that was once the site of the Wilson family home. Nothing remains but a strange harmonic resonance now, landing somewhere between “Two Step Side Step” and “Surfin'”.
Eventually, seemingly innumerable side steps later, I made it out to Cerritos Center For Performing Arts, catching up with a fun little busking tribute to The Beach Boys outside the venue after a pre-game safety check. Sufficiently stoned, I sauntered into the poshy but mellow-vibed venue and assumed my position in a primo nosebleed seat, ready to enjoy the Al Jardine and Co. show.
Looking back now, it's impossible not to compare Al's headlining jamboree to the sad, honestly pitiable state of Mike Love's throne in The Beach Boys. On the same night as Al's show, Mike occupied a tall stool with a milk crate for a foot rest, looking more like an elderly scion of a crime family than a rock star. But will his idiot kids be able to keep The Beach Boys Circus going without him? After what sounds like it will be his final show, we'll see how far twirling drum sticks and monkey dances take them from here…
Mike's show had the John Stamos experience, but Al managed to get Mike's former sidekick Bruce Johnston out of the retirement home and give him the full spotlight treatment, going from afterthought to highlight in the fresh context. His spirited tribute to Dennis Wilson summoned some of the late-great drummer's legendary magnetism, which he kept going with another deep cut banger from his early tenure, after recalling bearing witness to the song's almost spontaneous creation in the studio.
David Marks also brought some great OG energy to proceedings, and the youngest of the Hawthorne kids from the early era still has that youthful charm and vigor. It's no wonder Dennis took the young lad under his wings as a teenage troublemaker...
I've mostly kept my concert recap in the blog post to the first set, giving me room to dig into some corners of trauma and reckoning in the Beach Boys Family and Friends saga, ultimately trying to appreciate how the best of vibes and the worst of vibes can come from the same places.
