(Ok, so I made a little video collage for the song, rerecorded it on my VCR to VHS, and I think it looks really authentic!)

I listened to Hosono's album Sincerely Yours, including the track "Note of Mothership" when it came out, but I didn't clock until just now when I listened to it for the first time since NBM came out that it has the same instrumental as "The Pavements Light". It's not listed on Whosampled, and given how close they are in release date I'm guessing it's maybe a case of them using the same instrumental rather than a more traditional sample?

send them a DM about the shirt and they responded!! hopefully they put them on the site soon 🙏🏻

Its over a week since release. Now that the dust is settling, and we have all had a good chance to hear the record multiple times over, how are we all feeling about this fourth release?

Definitely a top 5 song in the album for me. My only gripe is that its over way too soon

I hate his annoying voice and teenager tier lyrics (he's 56 btw). I think something that went for a similar vibe in Avalanches' discography was Toro Y Moi's If I Was a Folkstar and comparing that to Cuomo is like comparing god to a toddler like Toro Y Moi is that far above Cuomo in terms of artistry and soul. Weezer had a good run in the 90s but i think its time for Cuomo to retire

It's at Rough Trade East London on 1st Nov. Google for details.

Anyway, great album.

It's very Wildflower coded in my opinion, which is my personal favourite album.

pretty fun that this gets a specia back cover! No booklet though. Plays nicely, I only wish it smelled like El Dorado too …

I was watching Succession and there’s a line of dialogue about his opponents being pygmies and it reminded me of a vocal sample from an avalanches mix I cannot remember that roughly goes “I fly over these leprechauns, these guys are Pygmy tribe I’m fulani tribe”. However I can’t seem to find it, wondering if I could get some help. Was curious if the vocal sample inspired the writer.

I have been having a look through old posts but no luck, does anyone know what happened to Darren Seltmann and are things amicable between him and Robbie/Toni?

Reading his wiki it says he left the group around 2006 when he started a family and concentrated on his own projects.... it took 10 years from then until Wildflower came out.

Obviously having a family would change things and maybe the pace of the 2nd album was frustrating? If feels like he was one of the main driving forces of SILY and was listed as a producer with Robbie and shares writing credits on all the SILY songs. In the youtube doco he seems to play the roll of front man and is the one conversing with Pav from Modular.

He never seems to get mentioned in interviews, but be interested to know the story behind the story (of there is one)!

And does anyone know where I can get iPod and 3.5 floppy-compatible limbs

I recently received my vinyl damage and I try to contact the store but I guess they use a different email for us store. The aus store stop reply after they ask me if I purchase for Australia

Somebody commented that they mixed in Wouldn’t it be nice by the Beach Boys. If anybody has a video please post it!

Is it witchcraft or are they pressing many different buttons?

I don't know if this kind of post is allowed here, but when I saw the cover of No Bad Memories, I just had to make this for a local music quiz.

I hope you like it too 😊

What an amazing night. Here’s a very cool video taken by my friend!

I was scrolling through reels last night and there was a guy that was talking about a video spread around the internet where the sound Nereid, one of Neptune's moons, has this very weird drone-y glitchy sound. Though it was fake, and the person who has made the original video actually just took this specific video where it shows MS Paint EXE file Interpreted as audio data and claimed that's how Nereid sounds like.

I listened to the whole 2 minutes of this and in certain places it sounds somewhat close to the glitchy arpeggio in the first half of Unicorn Quest™ alongside the Don't Copy That Floppy sample.

More specifically in the bit that was cropped for the fake Nereid video at 0:17 (but it can be heard throughout if you listen to the whole thing)

Could've The Avalanches use or at least try to recreate that noise? I feel like considering the theme of the album and it being related to MS Paint as well as their history of putting spectrograms or radio signals as audio in the past (like on Star Song.IMG and Weightless) there could be a slight possibility no?
