I can’t weigh in on the Summitcone brand but 88mm is pretty narrow for the backcountry.
Right around 100mm is my sweet spot, but if you were only BC then I’d go even wider.

Hard disagree. Backcountry in the east can easily range from boney white chalk, to shiny grey ice, to 3 inch crusts on corn, to mashed potatoes, to heavy wet "powder," to sintered styrofoam, to actual powder. Never seen cold smoke, except maybe blowing across the road.
It simply rains, and thaws, and sleets, and ices too often on every mountain at any time of year. Often storms have all those conditions in one, especially when they are Nor'Easters. Heck the last time I was at Jay peak, they had three+ feet of old sintered pow that proceeded to get rained on for 2 days strait before tapering off to snow as a below zero freeze set everything HARD. The only places that had powdery snow were in the trees on the lee side of open or wind effected areas, consolidating the few inches of snow at the end off that storm into powder stashes. I skied those saturated, waist high, mashed potatoes in the rain one day, and the boney white chalk/"pow" stashes the next day. I skied it on one set of skis. This was in an unusually cold winter.
Every winter when I head up to Willoughby, to visit family around Presidents weekend, the snow is usually just boney chalk, or rain crust on ancient corn. I've very seldom gotten lucky and got nice fres snow.
IMHO Volcano Skis kinda rule the day out here. Low 90's up to 100's are pretty typical. High 80's certainly aren't too narrow as the conditions are some kind of manky stiff nonsense more often than not. 110's and up are really only for the good days.
You know this all already, your opinion surprises me. I don't own a pair of skis wider than 96 *sorry, I forgot my soft snow 103's.
Edited to add 103's

I purchased the Blitz 88 last year. It has been one of the best East coast skis that I have used. Resorts, bumps and corn, it does great in all those conditions. If you want a backcountry ski, you may look at a little wider Summitcone.

I had Blitz, a reletively light ski that skied well in all conditions. It is a Swiss Army knife of skis. Still in the fleet is a Vagabond 88 with Switchbacks (not X2s) driven with Svartisens. The Vagabond from what I can tell, is an Outcast 88c with a fish scale base and considerably "stiffer" and a little lighter than Blitz. Based on your criteria, Blitz might be the ski. Fey Brothers will point you in the right direction. I grew up skiing the Icecoast and now Intermountain West.
